From the sound of it, all the best bits were written by Barry anyway. With a dash of Mancini's Pink Panther Theme thrown into the mix for good measure. It's not a John Barry song sung by Shirley Bassey so it must be crap

I was skeptical of Winehouse for a while. Maybe she could have turned out something better but I am not sure.
I don't think we will get to hear it before the end of the year. It would probably involve Winehouse getting organised and releasing it, promoting it and then peforming it.
I don't even remember why she couldn't it. Was it because of her public image ?

I think it was because they didn't manage to record it in time, or give to EON in time.

The beginning could use a bit of trimming, and there are a few spots where the guitar riffs are a bit too erratic (perhaps an indication, intentional or not, of Bond's mindset; rage over Vesper's death that he's constantly trying to keep in control), but the chorus and vocals by White and Keys more than make up for those somewhat small missteps, I think. These two have some pipes on them, and they've put 'em to pretty good use here. On my second listen, it really reminded me of Live and Let Die, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I'm happy with the way things are progressing, frankly. Roll on November.
But I'm still anxious to hear Winehouse's ditty.

I agree with you. I think the vocals are good, and the whole sound is very Bondian. I wouldn't mind hearing Winehouse's song but I would rather hear it after QOS has been released because I don't want it to detract from the actual theme song - this one.

Exactly how I hear it. To me. It sounds like they've incorporated stuff from the past that they think would make a classic Bond theme. I would have preferred it if they gave the song more thought and come up with something unique. From the sound of it, all the best bits were written by Barry anyway. With a dash of Mancini's Pink Panther Theme thrown into the mix for good measure. It's not a John Barry song sung by Shirley Bassey so it must be crap
Just adding a few notes from the Bond theme doesn't mean you're onto a hit.
IMHO. EON should do away with choosing some random 'pop' band to compose the main theme. Leave it to the main composer, and stick the 'guest' composer over the end titles.
Tonight was the first I've heard this song in it's entirely. Have to say it's like a 'bridge' from 'YKMN'.
Definitely not a tune for millions of Bond fans who used to be able to leave the cinema/theatre with a song in their head.
It's down to David Arnold now to make something of this mess. Kudos to him if he can decipher anything that hasn't been already pinched from previous songs.

To tell you the truth it's been stuck in mine as well. It's almost as if this song was checked by a hypnotist before it's release. There's so many elements to hypnotise us. Typically the piano riff incorporating the Bond theme (and some Vic Mizzy). The opening 'YKMN' motif, and a load of other nods. We've heard this all before, but not mixed up in this blend.Definitely not a tune for millions of Bond fans who used to be able to leave the cinema/theatre with a song in their head.

This is a fanwank pastiche, but with pepperoni.

Please, is it just me or does Keys voice sound bad over the music. And I dont mean bad like a bad singer, I mean like it was recorded badly. Her voice just sounds bad
You're right but I think that's intentional. C'mon, it's Jack White! Most of his stuff sounds like it was recorded on used jumble sale equipment. That's what he's known for. If it sounded any other way, the Stripes fans would be scratching their heads.

It's the same in my book as well, Darren. Along with 'YKMN'.Hate it. I think this must rank as the worst of all the Bond themes.
BTW. Great to have you back, my good friend.

Did you get the email I sent you a couple of weeks ago?
Please send me a PM here, buddy.
Cheers,

Well, I liked it They can carry a tune. It reminds me a bit of the early 70's style of music. It will work very well with Daniel Kleinmen's visuals.
Daniel Kleinman won't be doing the visuals. It is MK12 who are doing them for this movie.

? Surely you'd need the man ; )
True, that. Ha-ha. Seriously, the music's fine. Just find the "blinger" reference kind of jarring. What? Is Bond going to pull up to the Eco-fund raiser in a tracksuit, with chains thick and wide enough to skate on draped around his neck? Is Jinx going to pop out of the crowd, bum-rush Camille, and bellow: "Bitch, I know you ain't creeping around with mah man!!! Nobody better be dissin' Giacinta Johnson. I already buss a cap in that cracker hussy Miranda Frostbite's

Then Jinx would turn and see that Fields is walking away with Bond and go - as Chrissy Jones would say - into "instant catastrophic meltdown", and yell, "I see you playing around with mah man, Carrot-Top. You want some? After I beat the

Anyhow, decent song. Just hope they don't use any more words like "blinger." Rhymes with "unimaginative singer."

Well this is for the QoS theme not for Jack White fans. So if they intentionally did that then thats just terrible. I'm a filthy critter who has no music taste what-so-ever and who has been raised by MTV, since he was ten.
No one with a wider range of music taste would love this garbage.
Damn that hippity-hop and the frikkin MTV!

How is that fun? It just sounds like garbage. If they enhanced her voice to make it sound better like most songs do, then this wouldnt be half bad
