Well I have a wide taste in music and I like it!! :( And its NOT hip-hop...its more R&B style.

I know. I was just trying to be sarcastic.

I heard the song again, from the boombox link, and I have to say that 'mix' missed this whole verse;

Another tricky little gun giving solace to the one that will never see the sun shine
Another inch of your life sacrificed for your brother in the nick of time
Another dirty money, heaven sent honey turning on a dime

I really liked those lyrics. The mix I heard skips that part and jumps right into the 'Another girl with her finger on the world' part of the song.

Just to respond to what was said in the other locked thread..

Well, I wouldn't place it up there with LALD, but it's certainly head and shoulders above Goldfinger. biggrin.gif

That's hilarous. Dosen't even come close. John Barry's wonderful, jazzy music and Shirley Bassey's inspired singing compared to Jack White and Alcia Keys. Jesus. rolleyes.gif That is one of the definitive James Bond songs and you pick some un-inspired, wannabe Bond song of today ?

Well if we were comparing the instrumentals it would be a different story, but Bassey's shrill voice just kills it for me. I'm not aloud to like a "today" song because others prefer a lauded classic?

Yes, as a pop song but as a genuine classic, GF is in the top 3 Bond songs. AWTD is pop fluff.

As a song is all I care about. I couldn't care less which is more liked in 20 years time, I could be dead by then. And 'pop' and 'fluff' are two words which couldn't be further from accurately describing White or Another Way to Die.

What exactly am I digging up? Your original post is dated 'Today, 01:09 AM'. I am simply responding to what you said. I don't see what the 'hell' the problem is here. :)

I had thought it was "another player"... But, having given it another listen, I guess it is "blinger" (rhymes with "trigger finger").

I like the essence of the song; I'm just not a fan of the "scatting" in the middle of it. I'm sure it will grow on me, though...

the best mix so far is at http://www.theboombo...o-die-new-song/

Interesting.

Pro - More edited (for the better) than the BBC 1 version. Less muddled than the all-over-the-map BBC edit.

Con - Now there's only two (instead of three) sweet-as-honey lines by Keys. Shame.

I have a feeling they are going to rework the final edit. This song needs work. The BBC 1 version will not even make the top 40 as a pure stand alone single, in my opinion.

If they want a hit, they need to re-mix and re work that version released to the BBC.

As far as the Main Titles sequence, i'm sure they'll come up with something "good" out of the ideas (muddled though they may be) on the BBC edit.

I ALSO HAVE A FEELING THEY WILL HAVE AT LEAST FIVE DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF AWTD WHEN IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE:

1) An Alt Rock/Jack White version in his style.

2) A 'pop' version for 'Top 40' radio.

3) An R&B/hip-hop~y version for the 'urban' types.

4) Main Titles edit.

5) Instrumental

I don't for 1 second believe that BBC 1 edit was anything other than a "rough cut"/"trial balloon". In my opinion.

I've always thought of Bond fans as decent folk. Above average and intellectual people who can agree or disagree, without lowering to unhealthy argument and abuse.

There's a right way to put your point across and a wrong way. Why are we seeing the latter from some well clued up and interesting posters?

Whether your opinion of this song is good or bad. Why let someone else's opinion bother you so much? If someone disagrees with me, that's no problem to me. But. What's the point of getting wound up because another member doesn't share the same opinion.

Come on, chaps. Please respect your fellow posters. :(

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks for this link, mario007. I, too, think it's the best mix we've heard so far - much tighter than the BBC Radio 1 version. Hope the version over the credits is something like this.

Too right, fellas. Listen to the smart man. Nothing hotter than a guy who has his head on straight.

Anyhow, I'm sure that what we see playing over the main titles in November will be more "prettified" than what we heard, which is still okay. At least it's not "Tomorrow Never Dies." I love Sheryl Crow, but am not a fan of that song.

Anyone who disagrees and calls me "a ignorant bitch" will have to go through Bondian.

Laterz....

The mix is pretty solid there, and it plays better as a shorter song. Could still do without some of Alicia's oh's in the bridge section, but hey, you can't win 'em all.

What is it with there not having been a decent Bond tune in 20 years! The only good recent one was Surrender and they were too :(ing stupid to use it!

Yep.

This song will become dated in five years time.

It was dated before it was even recorded. It simply isn't 2003 anymore.

Cubby in his final years made sure the songs were spot on. I think maybe it's time Brocolli and Wilson passed on the producer reigns to new blood.

This seems to be the part most people hate, but I think it's the part I like most. I can see how it might not work in the context of the usual title sequence, though.

True, but that's her thing isn't it? Oh's in the bridge section. I think Jack White played it to a mate.

- His mate said "There's something missing"
- White replied "What?"
- "....what is it...I know! You need to put some "Oh's in the in bridge section!"
- "Oh's?"
- "Yeah, you know, Ohhhh....oh...ohhhhh"
- "Stop that!"
- "Ohhhh....ohhhh....ohhhhh"
- "STOP IT!"
- "Sorry"
- "Where am I going to get some "Oh's" at this late hour?"
- "Keys, mate".
