The conditions aren't exactly looking great there!
Yep, it's been raining cats and dogs during the first day of filming. They'll use CGI for that too, I guess

Well, looks like this video confirms that the Aston Martin Bond uses is NOT the same one as seen in Casino Royale (not that that was ever a possibiliy; that car was written off) because the Astons all have identical regstration plates, which are not the same as the one in Casino Royale. An awesome, just addded new video of the Aston Martins on set (some already have bullet impacts

Most likely it's either some kind of camera mounting so they can get shots of Craig driving, or it's some kind of rig that has been set up for stunts, like the compressed air cannon used for the car roll in Casino Royale. So what are those strange bits underneath the car and the odd attachment we can see under the front bumper? Are these more camera position mountings or gadgets for the movie? Hard to tell.

The only thing I don't know is what is the weight bias on the DBS. Does anyone know?

Apparently it's 1695 kg

The 159 is (I think) around 1740kg, although I think that depends on the spec (this is the V6 of a couple of years ago-not sure if they still make it but if they do I guess the Bond team'd be using the top of the range)

It's a mark of the filmmakers' professionalism (not to mention the size of their budget) that they've got rescue and medical teams standing by, prepared for all sorts of contingencies.
Indeed, Major Tallon!
According to the last news, the pilot, named Dan Frey, has been incredibly lucky. The car is said to have fallen down 20 metres before hitting the water, and sinking down 55 metres! Fortunately, he managed to get out of the car before it was too late.

Good heavens- that's quite an accident. Glad to hear he's okay- this'll be making the papers big time, I'd imagine.
Not convinced about those figures, though- there's no way it sank 55 metres into the lake otherwise they wouldn't have retrieved it, surely? Although you do say that he's in a hyperbaric chamber, which seems odd- he can't have stayed in the car while it sank deep enough for that, can he?

I wonder if they caught the accident on camera?
