Just found this recently posted video on YouTube:

Most of this is not really new now, BUT one thing struck me: at about 4:20, among the series of Aston Martins and Alfas, we see an aubergine-coloured BMW that reminded me of the one seen in an official behind-the-scene video, a stunt rehearsing sequence with Daniel Craig getting out of the car from the passenger's seat.
What do you think? Is it the same one? I can't remember the mention of a BMW involved in the Lake Garda chase.

Addendum: found this too (for whatever purpose it may serve), Raymond Benson playing a piano version of the Bond theme during the Quantum of Garda event:

Hi MkB

I mentioned this when these videos started appearing and suggested that the M3 convertible was indeed the same car and that Adam Kirley (the CR Aston stunt driver) mentioned when interveiwed that they had real problems when trying to unsettle the DBS in order to get it to roll and that they had practiced with BMWs to get the roll right etc so I suggested that that was perhaps the reason for it being there in the sense that it possibly has similar charactertics etc to the DBS1

Not sure how they really stack up in terms of their similarities and which model BMW is closest but it seems more than coincedental that the car that DC is obviously practicing stunts in also turns up where the actual stunts are being performed! It's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to get it out of shape in a BMW, even a new one, than a DBS and so if they were using it for practicing runthroughs and mark hitting that would make a lot of sense too.

Why pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a new car when you can go for crashed one? :(

For the record: Maurizio Piffer, the Italian policeman who took the guy out of the lake after said crash, has just been given an award for this act.
