  • The rumorted title is SHADOW OF THE BAT.

SHADOW OF THE BAT is a good title, although I think that there are better titles out there.

I'd like to see them using this one:

BATMAN: NO MAN'S LAND

... and perhaps develop a new trilogy based on this series.

What it lack is the punch of titles like BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT. Those titles, whether you like 'em or not, have a memorable, striking quality about 'em. SHADOW OF THE BAT feels mighty bland in comparison. We need another memorable Batman-centric title for the third. And that's not easy to come up with.

Don't see why that should happen here if we've got the same team sticking around.

Bale is signed for one more, Nolan isn't... my guess is he won't be back.I'll try to keep away from spoilers about the villains because I think most of you don't know what happens in TDK yet.

How about DAWN OF THE BAT?

Reminds me of DAWN OF THE DEAD. I dunno, I'm not crazy about it. I'd put it on the same level as SHADOW OF THE BAT.

Spoiler

Yeah, I get the reference, but dawn is a hard word to work into a title and still make it sound punchy. Especially when you're dealing with Batman titles.

Who else thinks that David Tennant would make a brilliant Riddler?

I think that he would be a good Riddler.

My choice for the role would be Casey Affleck. I saw his name come up on another message board and thought that it was a brilliant idea. He was great in GONE BABY GONE, and I think that he would be an actor who would be able to come in, bring somehting new to the character, as well as be able to hold his own with the other actors in the cast.

I hadn't even considered Casey Affleck. That's a wonderful choice. Loved him in THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD. Now that he's in my mind, I'll be disappointed if they don't cast the chap. He's just that perfect for it.

That was exactly my thought when I saw his name mentioned. I haven't seen JESSE JAMES yet, but he was quite good in GONE BABY GONE as well, and I too would be disappointed if he didn't get the job, assuming that we see the Riddler on screen sometime in the next film or so.

And depending on how well she does in QUANTUM, I wonder if Olga Kurylenko could fit the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman. There was a playfulness to her character in HITMAN (mediocre film, otherwise) that I could see playing out in the character very well.

Let's hope King Tut, Bookworm, and Egg Head fill in the villainous slots for the next Batman film. Really, what other good choices are there?

Hmmm...I wonder if the third film will be inspired at all by "The Dark Knight Returns"? The story has a goldmine's worth of interesting ideas and a very apocalyptic atmosphere (which would be fitting if this does turn out to be a trilogy). Of course, because Nolan is dead-set on keeping this franchise grounded in reality, there would be no
Spoiler

Perhaps since
Spoiler
the Bat could adopt a new Batmobile even more like the tank-like juggernaut from "TDKR." Maybe instead of having Gotham overrun by mutants as it was in "TDKR," you could replace the mutants with Joker copycats. This could tie in nicely to both "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Beyond."

Also, in case anyone's interested, here's what Catwoman and Batwoman/Batgirl might look like in the Nolan universe: http://fc03.devianta...ephcaesarsd.jpg

If they really wanted to end it as a trilogy, how about something like THE LAST VIGIL.

Or instead of tdalton's suggestion, how about SHADOW OF THE DUSK. The pure darkness motif would seem lazy to me, and playing up the duality angle is a must if Two-Face really is the villain.

Also, for those familiar with the blue hour phenomenon, how about THE BLACK HOUR. I'm probably beating this theme to death.
