To tell the truth, Righty, we know practically nothing about BATMAN 3, and odds are Nolan and company don't really know where they're going with it at this point, either, with Ledger's death throwing a wrench in the works.

You're welcome, old chum.

Anyway, I also think it's highly speculative that BB3 would come out in 2010. Given the time-table between BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT, I'd say it's more likely that we're looking at 2011 or possibly even 2012.

I wanted to put that year so people didn't think I was referencing Batman Forever.

That makes sense.

Just to put a couple of rumors out on the table regarding BATMAN III, which may or may not have any validity at all, but you can chew on:
  • Nolan has been said he wants Catwoman to feature in part III.
  • The rumorted title is SHADOW OF THE BAT.

Shadow of the Bat would be an inspired choice. I really like that title.

It comes from one of the many comic titles to feature Batman. To be honest, I'm not all that crazy about it. I don't think it fits well with the first two titles.

The next logical choice for title would be 'The Caped Crusader', I guess, but it doesn't sound all that "dark". Just the next-most-common nickname for Batman.

I'm pretty fond of the Riddler, myself (though not the OTT living cartoon that was Jim Carrey). I liked what they did with him in the animated series. Although most of the Riddler plots from that series are a little too far-fetched for a feature film, I'd relish seeing an interpretation of the character that's as true-to-roots as Ledger's Joker.

I LOVED Jim Carrey as the Riddler!! One of the few good things in the Joel Schumacher films IMO..

Yeah i'm already stoked for a 3rd Batman film.. Christian Bale has said he would love to do it, so depending on how good The Dark Knight is (and I think it will be great) I think we can count on a Batman 3..

Meh. There a better titles than SHADOW OF THE BAT, to be quiet honest.

While hardly the most captivating title, DARK VICTORY could be a nice and fitting one, I'd say. Especially if the are taking influence from it, which they are. Not to mention that, I think, it's Bale's favorite graphic novel.

But for whatever is worth, though, if the third film will feature the duality theme as the core aspect of it, as it seems -- considering the involvement of Two-Face and, possibly, Catwoman/Selina Kyle -- then a title that is able to feature the duality sense might be more apt.

Didn't the original cast (Batman Begins) all sign for 3 films in 2004/2005? Do we know if Nolan has expressed an interest in returning?

Will be very interesting to see how that progresses. Would be amazed if it eventually topped Michelle Pfeiffer's phenomenal performance in Batman Returns.

Agreed. I think that it's an awful title that wouldn't fit very well with BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT.

I also think that it will be interesting to see where they go with the third film. I'm assuming that Two-Face will be featured quite a bit since Harvey Dent is in THE DARK KNIGHT, and after the Joker, Two-Face is probably the biggest Batman villain of the rest of them.

I know that it's not a realistic expectation for BATMAN 3, but what I'd really like to see from the franchise is a film adaptation of BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL. Hopefully, at some point in the future, that will get a film adaptation.

Halle Berry wasn't Catwoman, she was a catwoman. Warner Brothers just wanted to screw with us and make us think we would get a film about THE Catwoman.

Yeah.

Given that the next film has to do with Two-Face (in all liklihood), the title I'd suggest is FACES (taken from the graphic novel of the same name). Unique and original.

Do we know if Nolan has expressed an interest in returning?

Well, we know he had the intent to make a trilogy, and there have been comments to the effect of taking the franchise to an intriguing place after THE DARK KNIGHT from a lot of the cast, but nothing official.

I'll say. It'd be a title so bold as to make QUANTUM OF SOLACE look as lazy and safe as CASINO ROYALE 2.

Trouble is, you'd get a lot of "witty" AICN fanboys writing it mockingly as FECES. Also, there have been a fair few films already called FACES, notably the well-known John Cassavetes flick.

What's more, it would surely be unthinkable as a stand-alone, because no one who didn't know the comics would ever connect it with Batman (unlike with THE DARK KNIGHT, which is as obviously Batman as THE MAN OF STEEL is clearly Superman). BATMAN: FACES might work, I guess.

Glad you think so. While I believe that it's too bold for Warner Bros. to swallow, it's definitely the title I'd pick.

Fair point. BATMAN: FACES could be the way it's written in print, so people would identify it as relating to the character, but in the visual advertising and the film itself, it could just have the title FACES (superimposed on the Bat-logo, of course).

I'll toss this out to be chewed up, and spat out...

Title: Batman: In The Pale Moonlight

Two-Face will be prominent.

Riddler will make an appearance (and I thought JC did a great job- almost as good as Frank Gorshin's).

The Batmobile will destroyed, and there will be a new one.

The circus will be town, but Robin does not come into being.
