JUNE : all work stop because holidays are coming next month
JULY : half the country on holiday
AUGUST : the other half on holiday. The july people are back, but it takes them a month to get to work again.
SEPT : everyone's back, but since the august people are taking a month to get into work again, the july people also lay low and slow.
OCTOBER ; work starts again.
It should be pointed out that in december, all work stop, and january, is the month to get into it again, and that in may, what, Cannes, lots of national off days.
It leaves only FEB/MARCH/APRIL and OCT/NOV to do any work in France, and there goes your whole year. Records are released in either of those months. You miss one of those windows, you're done. One year wasted.

Of course.Well it always amuses me when I see a post that says "Should Bond movies be released in summer again?" and I always reply that they are always summer movies here in Australia. Casino Royale and Happy Feet were the big hits of Summer 2006-7.
The effects of globalisation.
Hadn't thought of that.

We all pick a day, and whoever wins gets the begrudging admiration of the rest of us!
I say 21st
Marketto says 28th
Pick away.......

You would've thought they would've started at the other end...

Glad to see some workmen with a sense of humour, or possibly just no sense.

Will's wife must be pleased. It seems he has a hugh cock!
Indeed.

12 more days untill Hancock. So I guess we'll get the trailer quite soon.

Sony will likely release on a week day, no real news comes out from the studios over the weekend, even they need to relax, so don't expect anythin on Sat or Sun. The likelihood the trailer will be out this week have slimmed out ALOT, if it does it will come out GMT tonight or early tomorrow morning, if it dosen't then don't expect to hear from the studio untill next week.
But from Monday onwards its fairplay from Sony, they can release it any point up to there. I seriously doubt they will wait past Friday. If they do, I will be very surprised.
BUT.....there's a 'quantum of solace' in there somewhere, we can still hope for a leak which could come at any time of the day or week.

Mind you if we weren't all so keen to see it and unless we thought that we might get to see it early we wouldn't be populating this topic in such large numbers and awaiting every snippet of info with such anticipation!

Or do you know when cinemas get copies of the film in? How many days before hand?

Wow. That's more than I'd ever have expected for HANCOCK (which is poised to be a disaster as far as reception and word-of-mouth is concerned). But it does mean good things for awareness regarding QUANTUM OF SOLACE.One encouraging note - the early tracking numbers for Hancock place it out of this world - (pun intended) - with a $140-$150M opening holiday weekend. This will surely place the QoS trailer in front of a lot of eyes come July 1st.

Good for Bond...bad for...er, anyone who plans to stay to see the film. Here's a review of Hancock, with many spoilers. I had to do a double take reading about some of the things that happen in this film :

How does this tracking work, by the way? Do they poll people who have seen it and estimate grosses from there?

No, they do random surveys and ask people, Have you heard of this movie, How interested in seeing this movie are you on a scale of 1-10, is it your first choice of movie to see in the next few weeks, etc. I have no idea how they interpret that kind of info into how much it'll make on opening weekend, but that's pretty much all it is.
