`Quantum of Solace` trailer release date set for July 2nd

With the title announcement and teaser poster announced, and filming well underway, the next big item on the James Bond fan calendar is the trailer for "Quantum of Solace".

It has long been expected that Sony would hitch the new James Bond trailer to a big summer tent-pole movie form the studio.

According to a theatre manager source of AICN, the "Quantum of Solace" trailer will be attached to "Hancock" - the forthcoming blockbuster starring Will Smith... from Sony Pictures.

"Hancock" - and the "Quantum of Solace" trailer - is set to open on July 2nd in the USA and UK.

Teaser trailers are just that. Short scenes edited together to get you in the mood for the actual film. If you cannot wait for the teaser trailer it's going to make the film seem even further away once viewed.

I'm okay with the wait, because I want to actually see something in the teaser trailer. My concern is ... HANCOCK? Of all the big summer releases to attach the trailer to, why pick a flick many of us hadn't even heard of until reading this news this morning? Yeah, INDIANA JONES and IRON MAN are coming out too soon, but there are no other higher profile releases in June?

Maybe the reason it's coming out much later than CR's is because they wanted to get audiences used to Daniel Craig in the role the first time. Now that everyone has accepted him, there's no need to get one out early.

Perhaps we'll get more that one teaser trailer? Like we got with Die Another Day. Maybe... just maybe AICN accidently confirmed the date of trailer number 2. Teaser 1 might be coming sooner. Just a thought.

I don't understand why they don't just repeat pretty much the same schedule for advertising that they used for CR... it must have worked pretty well back then... so why not again?

Ah, I have to agree with the Colonel. The article at AICN says the TRAILER will be released July 2 with HANCOCK. Teaser style trailers don't usually show up with movies, just the theatrical ones.


Maybe we'll still get a teaser in a month or so.

Hancock is Sony's big summer movie (Will Smith, 4th of July weekend). Indy and Iron Man are both from Paramount.

As Casino Royale was a new beginning with a new Bond, perhaps they wanted to get the ball rolling that bit earlier?

This is from AICN so it's not written in stone and it's not officially confirmed. If true it's a somewhat poor choice by SONY as Hancock has some bad buzz. Iron Man or Indiana Jones would be far better choices to debut the teaser with.

And being from different studios doesn't always matter. Remember trailers for TWINE and DAD were attached to New Line's Austin Power movies.

Watching the Casino Royale teaser trailer again it occurred to me that it contains footage solely from the first half of the film. Do you think that they may be waiting to film some more of the footage from the first half of Quantum before they release the trailer? It seems to me that it some ways they are shooting this film back to front (probably to fit in with weather etc in certain locales) and that much of the South American stuff will be making up the later stages of the film.

Maybe they would prefer to use clips from early on in the film as to not give too much away. Just a thought.

Agreed. I expected to see three trailers for Casino Royale at the time.
