I knew this was going to happen. The CR marketing campaign totally spoiled us, due to 2 factors: 1, the release of DaVinci Code as a Sony summer hit in late May as opposed to early July, and 2, the fact that there was SO much bad press against Daniel at that point that Sony knew they needed to start turning the tide ASAP in the marketing campaign and start getting people excited.

It totally made sense for CR, but the wait for the QoS trailer is almost intolerable now:). Much more in line with the traditional Bond approach of recent years - I can remember the DAD teaser showing up in July or so (Goldmember, I believe it was attached to) with trailers falling later in the fall as well.

Guess we just got bad luck that Hancock was released in July as opposed to June sometime. But it's a Will Smith superhero movie, so those two factors alone mean it will open big, and Bond will get his usual exposure.

It's hard to be really anticipating eagerly something when you don't know a whole lot about how it's shaping up - for me, there's still a big question mark as to whether or not QUANTUM's going to deliver all that's expected of it.

But the trailer does sound like good, if typical, Bond trailer material.

I agree. If the trailer ends up being what has been described in this thread, then it should be a good trailer, if a bit predictable. Hopefully they'll come out with a trailer that is truly amazing that will spark some interest in the film, but I'm not thinking that what has been described would do that for me.

I don't feel it that much either. Even after this trailer, Quantum of Solace is still so far away. It doesn't help that one of my other beloved heroes, Batman, is in its path. It's hard for me to maintain a high level of excitement for that long. In the meantime watching the other films and reading the books ought to suffice.

I also don't want to set my hopes up too high. It's going to take an awful lot for Quantum of Solace to exceed or even match Casino Royale for me. At least with Casino Royale I knew it couldn't possibly be worse than the last two. Quantum of Solace doesn't have that luxury.

Same. I'm looking forward to seeing Craig's gunbarrel, if they re-use the great realistic style of CR and the vertical blood drip. The gunbarrel arrangement involving the 'Q' will be just for the trailer I presume. I hope Craig retains his dramatic spin and shoot style in the walking version of his gunbarrel.

Don't want to get anyone's hopes up further (is that even possible for some of you? ), but from past experience, anytime I've read shot-for-shot trailer descriptions on the net, its usually only been a matter of days before the real thing shows up online. My guess is the first sighting of it will be of the blurry/grainy camcorder variety.

Guess I'm in the minority: I expect QOS to easily eclipse CR. Better director, same character arc w/Haggis. Plus very similar villain/girls IMO, at least sight-unseen they "feel" that way to me. Wouldn't surprise me for CR to be viewed as the more - even slightly so - laborious of the two. The awesome moments like we had in CR will still be there, just within a tidier and more streamlined storyline. That's my expectation anyway.

CR is the best Bond film since OHMSS (IMO), but doesn't mean it can't be bettered, even if it's just by a smidge. Wait for it, peeps. I got a feeling it'll be worth it.
