Supposedly, Cate Blanchett has joined the cast. Spells quality, no? Even though I think she's a bit overrated, and positively wooden in BABEL.
I love Cate Blanchett. Her being in this film is incentive enough to get me to see it (and I thought she was great in BABEL - one of the film's bright spots, of which there weren't many).

Plus, hasn't Ford said numerous times over the years that he wouldn't approve a new Indy movie if Indy's supposed son was involved in the story? Seem to recall him saying that the only father/son story he would allow would be the one between him and Sean Connery.
And nice work on the Indy posters there, Gobi-1, especially the "Avalon" and "IV" teasers.

It seems like I might be one of about six people on this board who would be interested in seeing Indy IV.
Not at all. I for one am looking forward to it.

Yeah. It's like Craig and the CASINO ROYALE script - Blanchett's just about the most respected A-list actress there is, and I seriously doubt that she'd have signed for INDY 4 unless she thought it was going to be very, very good indeed. No disrespect to Karen Allen, Kate Capshaw and Alison Doody, but Blanchett's simply in a different league.
If they announce that Connery will have no part in this film, that would be another excellent sign.

I think that even if it sounds like an awful movie, I'll see it. I can't pass up Indy.

Though I'd love to see Marion Ravenwood return, I do look forward to Cate in the film. Anybody besides me think she looked her "hottest" as the redhead in Bandits? Just me?
No, I agree.

Just imagine the hilarity when someone refers to "Dr Jones" and we find out - wait for it - we find out that he's actually talking about Indy's son!!!!!!!!
Just hope that we never learn that Indy also has a granddaughter who also goes by the name of Dr Jones - Christmas Jones

As soon as I heard this I immediately thought of the "Willie" Scott character that Kate Capshaw played in ToD.
Don't really know why, but I did.
Errr....obviously.

And Stromberg, I don't think Indiana Jones has eternal life because he drank from the grail. If I recall it's effects only last in the temple, but once the person had gone past the seal it wears off - "The price of immortality" - as it seems.

I'm also one looking forward to seeing it, I think it's in good hands and am interested to see how it is handled. If the movies bad, well, always have the other three to fall back on.
This is my outlook as well. Right now I'm hopefully optimistic. I'm willing to give it a shot. We'll see.

Indiana Jones and the City of Gods
I find it interesting, but without knowing what the plot is, the title really doesnt mean anything.

Yeah, EMPIRE reported that the title was being tossed around, but I was hesitant to make a big deal out of it. We've had a lot of rumored titles for INDY IV, and all of them were either unsubstantiated rumor (INDIANA JONES AND THE LOST CONTINENT, INDIANA JONES AND THE GARDEN OF LIFE), fan screenplays (INDIANA JONES AND THE SONS OF DARKNESS, INDIANA JONES AND THE SWORD OF ARTHUR), or abandoned screenplays that had been rejected (RAIDERS OF THE FALLEN EMPIRE, INDIANA JONES AND THE SAUCER MEN FROM MARS, INDIANA JONES AND THE MONKEY KING). On a side note, I've read most of the scripts that actually exist. Pretty interesting stuff.Apparently this film has a title now, it's going to be:
Indiana Jones and the City of Gods

Anyway, INDIANA JONES AND THE CITY OF THE GODS may be the real deal. It's not the catchiest title compared to the others in the series. I suppose it could be a reference to Olympus, but considering this film was supposed to take place in jungle locales (that's what the DOP said), that doesn't seem to fit.

Yeah, Olympus/Greek gods was the first thing I thought of. Indy fighting a minotaur, anyone?

Anyway, I found an absolutely fantastic piece of fan art for INDY IV by a chap named Paul Shipper, and felt like I had to share it (it's one of those that are so good, you'd swear it was official): Indy IV Fan Poster.

The Hollywood Reporter has placed a report that Ray Winstone (The Departed) has been cast as Indiana Jones' sidekick. Fine by me.

Yeah- I love that one. Made me want to have a bash too, although I haven't quite decided on a compostion yet (click on thumbnail):
Ray Winstone sounds like fun; can't be bad.
And as for Cate Blanchett- well she was good in Hot Fuzz!

Interesting. Hope he sticks with his own voice, though - in THE DEPARTED, he does some of the worst accnt work since Dick Van Dyke in MARY POPPINS.

Well, I'm just glad they didn't go with some young 'un for the sidekick. To balance out Indy's age, that would seem the natural move, but also the more cliche option.Interesting. I have to say, I'm very intrigued about INDY IV all around. After years of limbo, I'd imagine the script has to be fairly interesting to get everyone excited and happy (to drag this aging franchise out of mothballs would really require something darn good), and then there's the inspired casting of Blanchett.

Well, Shia LeBouf denied the rumor about being in any way, shape, or form connected to INDY IV. So that's entirely debunked and invalidated, and Lucas himself personally denied the rumors about Indy having a daughter.I read in the Bond 22 thread (you know, the one where we are also discussing Indy 4 ) that this film will feature no Indy offspring. Just curious where you all heard that from?
And going back a year or two, Frank Marshall said about INDY IV re: the offspring: "We're sticking with Indy on his own. He still gets around pretty good." We have no reason to believe that's changed at all.

But 2008 has some movies I'm pretty fired up for:
Bond 22: waiting for hard news...drool.
IRON MAN: Surprising good cast attached. Terrence Howard, Gweneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges and oddly, Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man. I'm excited for this one.
The Dark Knight: Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent and Heath Ledger as The Joker just totally kicks @$$. Now if they just get a decent leading lady...

I'm not thrilled about this one.It should have been made 10 years ago...if at all.
I agree 100%

The character of Rachel Dawes was recast with Maggie Gyllenhaal (Katie Holmes isn't reprising the role). So there's your leading lady. The Dark Knight: Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent and Heath Ledger as The Joker just totally kicks @$$. Now if they just get a decent leading lady...
