After a not-so-friendly encounter, I became a fair date for Bond, but ultimately went to pieces.

Sounds to me like Saunders, TLD.

And again you score, trs! Tense first meeting, obvious; "fair date," they had a rendezvous at the fair; "went to pieces," well, ouch.

Over to you!

It took three bullets to turn this man's evening from better to worse.

Another good guess, but not what I was thinking.

Perhaps another clue:

These bullets were not the cause of my death.

GOT it!! Dimitrius! The three "bullets" were the three aces Bond beat him with at the Ocean Club, causing his evening to go from better (winning) to worse (not so much)!

Hats off, trs, that was ingenious! I confess I went back and checked the scene to make sure they were in fact aces before posting this . . .

I wasn't aware your expertise included poker terminology. And yes, I'd say worse: loses money, car, wife and eventually life. That night had to suck!

Well done, Major B.

You've raised the bar pretty high. I hope I can live up to your high standards . . .

I was tired out from my first encounter with Bond, but you could say that what did me in was someone's excessive courtesy.

Jill Masterson? On the bed = tired (I suppose) and being painted in gold could perhaps be excessive courtesy!

OK, major, my offline presence and carelessness lost me Tracy's Cougar.

However, as it has been several days:

Tilly Masterson--tired from the first encounter meaning the "double blowout"; and the excessive coourtesy of Oddjob taking his hat off to a lady.

Well, you might've thought that a vacation in soggy New Jersey might've freed up some brain cells, but I don't have anything more than a guess about this one: Could it be Boris "Invincible" Grishenko? He briefly holds the Goldeneye key, but much of the film he's clowning around.

Ah, the neighboring state of NJ. Good guess, but no.

Nope.

And since it has been over a week, time for an additional hint:

"Although I would have the key to success. I spent most of my time hamming it up. My ultimate fate, however, was not unqiue and someone else died the same way before me!"

Chris Walken.
He did "ham" his performance, and he fell to his death. So, unfortunately, did one of his business "partners."

Good guess, but not addressing the "key to success" bit.

Anyway--Walken (Zorin) is not the answer.

Wow, this one's a killer. I would guess Kamran Shah in Living Daylights, since he got the key to his cell from Bond, but he only hammed it up while in the jail, which wasn't most of the time.

(Continues to drum fingers, waiting for inspiration to strike...)

Keep waiting, Major. You missed the new part of the clue---someone else died in the same manner. Unless you have a new Director's cut of TLD, he said smugly, yet in the spirit of hearty competition, I cannot recall Shah's demise in the film.

So, reminder to all: this character was dead by the end of the film.

Thinking...
Wait a minute! Largo? He was shot by a harpoon gun, and so was Vargas!

If not, then it must be Jaws (TSWLM) because he was thrown off a train, and so was Tee-Hee in LALD.

Nope, not Largo. Don't forget, a three part clue: Hamming it up, key to success and death was same as other character in film--so know we also know this person died AFTER the previously mentioned same manner of death.

Nope, not Jaws--he didn't die.

Wow, I totally overlooked that post with the extra clue. Could it be Hans in YOLT? He had the key to the destruct button, and if what he fed the piranhas was part of a pig, then he kind of fits, since he died the same way Helga did. My only reservaton is that he didn't seem to spend most of his time feeding the fish.

Major, you never cease to amaze me. That is correct. Yes, I might have been too liberal with the word most, and take any B)-kicking anyone else who felt they were robbed might deem worthy. In retrospect, the word "some" should been used instead of "most".

Over to you......

Holy smoke, that was a devious one, trs007. I'm glad you gave the extra clue. I had to guess at the "ham" part--never would've come close otherwise.

Okay, let's try this:

I took a nasty turn in a booth and was a caged animal before all was well for me--which is when I died.
