Here's another vote for the classic gunbarrel. I would, however, like a few others, like to see Daniel Craig wearing the three-piece suit from the iconic final moment of Casino Royale.
Along with hat, I hope...

I'm another hoping for a regular gunbarrel with Daniel Craig entering from the right and shooting the hell out of the camera! Quite happy with the blood effect from CASINO ROYALE though. Then perhaps the gunbarrel can open on to a nice panoramic of Mr White's lakeside villa.
I couldn't agree more. Although I prefer a more vibrant shade of red for the blood. My cynicism tells me that the projector bulbs were too dim in the theatres I saw CR in, and therefore the dvd looked richer. Perhaps instead of the circle opening into the pre-titles sequence, it could shrink and disappear a'la Bob Simmons?

Maybe something like the reverse of this?

May as well just throw it back on the beginning for the cool, nostalgic effect, and then start the movie from there. Dan's films take alot of influence from 'early Connery,' as everyone has said, and 'early Connery' was what made that opening gunbarrel iconic.

Why do we always have to stick with "traditional"? Why can't we be innovative?

It would be interesting if there was no music untill Bond shoots. Imagine it; total silence, the only thing you can hear are the sound of Bonds footsteps then the Bond theme kicks in after he shoots. Bond then lowers his gun and walks out of shot leaving an empty blood stained gunbarell to open up on the fist shot of Bond 22.
Pretty cool, no?
Hey, that'd be awesome! I've always wondered what a "footsteps" gunbarrel would sound like...

Maybe I'll try to whip up a Youtube video like that...but what part of the gunbarrel music should start when the bullet fires?
How about the guitar portion? That'd sound awesome! Just think:
You see the scrolling dots, with the vibraphone portion from Dr. No backing it. Once the gunbarrel opens, the music cuts out, and we hear only the determined, quick footsteps of Bond, who then turns and fires! There is a pause, then...
"Der-deh-der, deh-dah-dah der-deh-dah-der..."

I like it!
Really? I suppose it was a bit inspired by the YOLT radio spots:

"200 angry ninjas..."
"...faced up against James Bond..."
"...they... don't stand a chance!"
...
"Der-deh-der, deh-dah-dah der-deh-dah-der..."

Can't decide if I'd switch to colour though or keep it black and white?

For my moneysworth.....keep it the same as CR, just move it to the beginning of the pre-titles as opposed to the end. No walk across, just the turn and shoot following straight on from the MGM and Sony logos......Bang! Short, punchy and very effective I would think and have the 007 theme play as the blood runs down.
Can't decide if I'd switch to colour though or keep it black and white?
God No! Are you doing drugs

God No! Are you doing drugs. We need a 'proper' gunbarrel. Craig walking, turning and shooting. The only reason that Gunbarrel was used in Casino Royale was to show Bonds first kill.
Good one Mharkin

Just kidding. "Keeping the tradition alive" is my motto, however, I am liking the CR GB look at the moment.

The bond theme arrangement from the end of Casino Royale should be used with it, that was excellent.
