Its a bit out there, but I was thinking maybe they could move the gunbarrel to the beginning but still have it in context, as in, Craig in the outfit and with the same gun as at the end of CR (just because I think it would make an interesting twist) walking in, shooting, and then it opens up to reveal that he actually just shot someone in the context of the scene. That way it would keep the best of the old but retain CR's new way of doing things.

I think thats a joke page...

I'm gonna be conservative on this...the Gun barrel is a cinematic sequence that can never be repeated or copied...it represents what a bond movie is. It signals that there is a great film coming. Casino Royale's was an interesting way to integrate it into the myth of James Bond as restarted...but It should go back to normal now.

PS the blood dripping down looked like [censored]...that is my one major turn off about CR. I'm a filmmaker and can recreate a blood drip with some fake blood on glass and it would look better then the CGI monstrosity I saw. What is this a slasher film? Yuck!

Cheers

Ah who cares about the page, btw Vilain I think your idea is very original but they will most likely stick with the normal walk. Another thing I wonder is if the Gunbarrel will be in a trailer or released on the net?

It's time for Craig to take the walk at the beginning of QOS. I'd like to see a gunbarrel similar to the one used in Brosnan's films. I just prefer the look of that to the one in CR. The latter has still to grow on me.

I'd prefer to see a return to a gun barrel sequence that is similar to what we had during Brosnan's first three films.

I actually prefer that as well, as a standard. I liked the clean and "glossy" look of Pierce's gunbarrel. GE is one of the best IMO. My favorite is CR however (as a one time deal), yet I would like to see them return to a more standard bunbarrel. CR had WAY too many grooves however.

You, know, I wonder, just wonder, if they made the grooves more obvious to remind the typical movie goer that the Bond opening IS a gunbarrel. I have met several who thought it was a camera lens following Bond.

I haven't seen it myself, and I can't find the story online yet, but apparently in the special James Bond edition of 'Total Film' magazine, Michael G. Wilson confirms that the gunbarrel will be back in its traditional position and format for QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

I hope that it's true as well. If the sequence is going to be in the film, it has to be at the beginning, IMO.

That's a really cool idea. Like you said, it would have the classic Bond feel, but have a little twist to it. However, I'm still hoping for the return of the classic gun barrel, perhaps with just an updated look.

Great news! I really hope that it's true. I suppose only time will tell. Like I mentioned in another thread, nothing beats sitting in a cinema and hearing the Bond theme start as the dots go across the screen.

That being said, I wonder what music cue David Arnold will use. I wonder if he'll go for something like he did for Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough, where it jumped to the end of the theme as soon as Bond shot his gun, or if he'd do the traditional gun barrel, with the main riff being played after Bond shoots. Perhaps he'd go for something completely different altogether.

As crazy as it sounds, I'm actually extremely excited to see the gun barrel return. Both to see how Craig looks performing the walk, and how David Arnold handles the music for this era of James Bond.

Well...

On the subject of the gunbarrel sequence, which was changed for Casino Royale and did not feature as the opening shot of the movie, Wilson said, "we'll probably go back to the traditional style"

The gun-barrel sequence should follow the CGI image that characterized Brosnan

Funnily enough, I had a dream about the Gunbarrel last night. It started off in complete darkness with the sound of a rifle being cocked then a white circle appeared in the center of the screen and the camera zoomed towards it the the gunbarrel appeared, Craig walked onto the scene wearing black trousers, a white shirt a black jacket and an undone bow tie he turned, his jacket flicked and he shot then the blood appeared, when it was flowing down the screen, Craig walked out of the shot leaving an empty gunbarrel. Pretty cool, No?

I'd like to here, for the Bond theme, a sort of cross between the Goldfinger, Thunderball, and Casino Royale Bond themes.

Anyone else?

The gun-barrel sequence should follow the CGI image that characterized Brosnan’s era but Craig should maintain the pose he has adopted in CR. That would be a remarkable blend of the old with the new.

There wouldn't be much "new" about it. It would be the same old stuff just with a new pose... not exactly a refreshing new gunbarrel for a new era.

If anything, I hope Kleinman can give the gunbarrel some depth. Even when he re-did it in '95 it still felt flat. Make us feel like we're looking down a gunbarrel, not at some iris.

An exact replica of the 1977-89 gunbarrel, with Craig wearing a normal suit and tie, please.

Something which oozes with modern style but reminds of the classics. What the gunbarrel was to Craig
