THE DARK KNIGHT is shaping up to be a complex, awesome film that will blow every superhero film out of the water. BATMAN BEGINS seems like slim pickings in comparison (on pretty much every level). Seriously, this is one film that's going to knock everybody on their rear end, and not just Batman fans.

Well, I think BATMAN BEGINS is slim pickings anyway, but I've got a good feeling about THE DARK KNIGHT.

RAIDERS and TEMPLE OF DOOM were adventure films with comedy in them; LAST CRUSADE was closer to a comedy with adventure in it.

Agreed, and it's largely for that reason that I find LAST CRUSADE the weakest of the bunch. I'm getting a DIE HARD 4.0 vibe from INDY 4, i.e. elderly hero and teen male sidekick on a wisecracking outing that borrows the basic plot, structure and feel of part three, hitherto the worst in the series. Still, at least it's Spielberg rather than Wiseman, and some aspects of INDY 4 do seem interesting.

Sorry to interrupt the DK/Indy 4 banter :cooltongue:, but as to this "Aston Martin car chase" segment, I know it's just the newspaper and they're not totally privy to the sides for this sequence, but somebody catch me up on the details of the current deal between EON and Aston. Last I heard (and that was a good several months back and I can only vaguely remember), there was no deal as-of-yet to use Astons again, and so we were all speculating as to whether Bond would use a Jag or Lotus or what have you. I can only assume the local paper is sensationalizing the story just as with the "climactic sequence" bit. If I've missed something huge, please tell me!

Anyone who sais that Bond would glorify horse abuse is insulting the people who watch the movie by calling them gullible, stupid and naive. I am neither of those traits, so I am annoyed at these fools.

I suppose some spoilers are ok but why would anyone want to know the ending?
I want to see the film knowing as little as possible.

Some filming to reportedly take place this Thursday

I've been studying the article from Il Giornale in more detail, and you may want to have a look at the Bottini - a series of underground tunnels in Siena. That may very well be the setting for Bond's confrontation with the villain...

Also, I found no indication in that article that this is necessarily part of the conclusion of the movie.

Just to be clear, there is no evidence that Bond rides a horse! The horseriding serves as a backdrop to the chase across the rooftops.

Some people do, some people don't, that's according to personal taste.
Advise to those who don't want to know any spoilers: Stay away from articles or forums that say "SPOILERS" in big bold letters. It helps.

"Bond rides a horse again since AVTAK" already happened a few years ago. The movie was called "The Living Daylights" :cooltongue:

I've rushed through the reports and gather:

I like the part where Bond is chasing the villain with a car(Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lotus), the part in the aquaducts, and the rooftop chase part, but I am a little bit sceptical to the part about Bond riding a horse. But nothing has actually been said about that happening at all. :cooltongue:

I am all for that sequence and I almost cant wait for Bond 22

I agree with Stromberg: we're in the early stages of pre-production, and the fact that the scene is set in Italy (like the end of CR), make me think it surely looks more like the PTS than the finale climax.

I don't think anyone's going to scream 'Bourne ripoff' particularly, as we see that the chase involves the Aston Martin, streets, and these bottini thingies also, the rooftop bit will be a small part of it, I'm sure.

I made the statement mostly in jest, but then again I wouldn't want to underestimate... :cooltongue:

A chase scene in some form, but not necessarily a rooftop chase, and the mentioning of the 'bottini' doesn't speak very much for rooftops. ('rooftop chase', something that Bond fans became somewhat obsessed with ever since the one that never made it in OHMSS :cooltongue:)

My impression from the article is that the confrontation in the 'bottini' may not be the conclusion of the rooftop chase, but a separate scene. There is mention in the article of someone seeking refuge after the chase in one of the town's palaces - although I struggled to translate that particular part of the article entirely accurately.

And now, since it is confirmed that the article doesn't mention it as being the climax of the film, dare I suggest that it will in fact be the PTS?

Good call, Dino. That sounds highly possible. :cooltongue:

Bingo! Like I said, look at the last date seen in Casino Royale. It's Aug 4, 2006 on Vesper's cellphone. This race takes place in mid Augaust in Italy to top it all off. It can't take place that long after the events at the end of CR. I like it. Not too overt of a direct contiuation that a battle at White's estate would have been. Perhaps we may get that too. Maybe they will once again cut it like the CR PTS with this chase intercut with White's interrorgation or something.

The confusion over whether the sequence is the climax or not reminds me of the rumors surrounding The World is not Enough.

Some CBners may remember that the chatter on the Internet prior to the start of work on The World is not Enough was that the climax would involve the Millenium Dome in London.

I remember that. Bond was supposed to stop the Dome from being blown up, and was going to be congratulated at the end of the film by Tony Blair and Peter Mandelson. :cooltongue:

It makes the film we actually ended up with seem quite good by comparison!
