Most of the seasons have proven entertaining (while the third disappointed slightly, the fifth achieved an epic height) until the sixth season, which (despite a promising opening quartet of episodes) very nearly drove the show into the ground.

I always thought season 4 was 24 big opportunity to renew itself. We had Jack leaving CTU and working for Secretary Heller, so they could've easily moved the setting to another US city. They could also have introduced a bunch of new characters (which they did, but in the second half they just took back the old one's). And they could have made the threat not something big with catastrophic consequences (again, they did have the Heller-abduction, but they went back to the formula in the second half).

I saw the trailer on FOX for the upcoming season of 24- Jack is in Africa trying to save kids from a civil war, and it showed our new Lady President as well.

I won't say more than that, but 24 does look shaken, not stirred!

Jack is back!!

Well, there are two trailers floating about; one for the seventh season, which was released before the season was delayed until 2009, and one for 24: Redemption, which was released just this week.

True, but the 24: REDEMPTION trailer has been floating around online for almost two months, and was shown at Comic Con (back when it was still 24: EXILE).

Really? Was it the same as the one now on the official site?

Yep, pretty much exactly the same, although this new one seems to have a couple of additional scenes with Jon Voight and Cherry Jones (plus a proper voiceover). Great stuff.

I've been calling for Bond to close up shop after the Craig era

Ditto.

Glad to see someone else is with me on that one.

It's a US Embassy official in Sangala called Frank Tramell, played by Gil Bellows.

WOW! At first I wasn't sure if the trailer was as good as it seemed or if I was just suffering from two years of 24 withdrawal & that made it better than it actually is. After watching it a second time, it's definitely that good!

The new trailer looks great. I think the show has gained from the break, it has given the writer way more time to plan for the whole season. But I want more Bill Buchanan in the trailer!

What grabbed me most about the trailer is how relaxxxxxxed Jack appears in some scenes. This is new--at least to me, still not having seen season one. I'd been getting weary of the world-weary, exhausted, angry Jack. Oh, I don't want ticked-off Jack to disappear completely. I'd just a glimpse or two of a more laid-back spirit. Before all hell breaks loose again.

Fortunately, we get it merely a single day later over here in the UK! We've got a better deal than you guys got with QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

Completely disagree with that; IMO Day 3 is the best season by a long shot, being the only one with a properly structured plot that is well maintained over the twenty-four episodes. The first two seasons were great when on-form but the first runs out of steam after Kim and Terri are rescued and the second suffers from all the completely irrelevant and often daft "Kim in peril" stuff. Four starts out well but quickly becomes a complete mess, lurching from one disparate plot line to another (the idea that nuclear meltdown can be achieved via computer hacking may be credible but seems completely ludicrous when presented on screen and the less said about the PC "patriotic Asian-American shopkeepers" the better).

Day 5 is probably the most consistent after 3 but isn't truly exceptional and as for Day 6, well.......

I've seen some incredible reviews for 24: REDEMPTION. Very exciting.

There's less than a week to go now, with the first broadcasts being on Fox on Sunday 23rd November in the United States, and on Sky1 on Monday 24th November in the UK.

The official Fox site for '24: Redemption' includes some behind-the-scenes videos which can be accessed in anticipation of the movie.

Just read the first review of 24 REDEMPTION. I speed-read throught the spoilers. Was interested to read, in McPaper, that they rated it higher as a movie than as a long episode of 24. The keynote for me was the revelation that we do get to see Jack emerge from his overdone angst--and show a few sparks of the old Jumpin' Jack Flash. If that's true, oh boy oh boy!

I would like to see another 2 hours added to Redemption. In the 3rd hour, jack would deal with the Car Industry, and in the 4th hour solve the sub prime mortgage mess with nothing more than some jumper cables and a towel. Come to think of it, he could solve Detroit's problems with only a towel...

But tonight is going to kick @$$!
