What, no encrypted back-ups? Your slipping, Bryce.Well folks, the countdown continues, but there was a slight computer woe that cost me a few chapters. UGH!

Yes, my fingers are almost blistered, but the end is near.
I'm pulling double duty with notions for the second story. It's just too much fun with the idea I've had and, in consulting with Joyce on her latest work, I spilled the beans and she's over the moon about it.
It will meld the lines between my universe and the films though. Let's just say that it will involve a former Bond and former Bond girl. You'll "know their name".
Now, back to the major final revisions of "None Shall Regret". My poor printer is cranking out pages now and probably needs a break and some more ink.
Thanks again for the support, feedback, critiques and praise along this nearly six month labor of love.
I *might* post chapter three just because I feel I owe it to the fans.
I said...er....typed "might".

Would begging help turn that "might" into "YES!"?
I second that emotion!

Who are the other two 00 agents who are as good pistol shots as Bryce? I assume Bond is one. Is the other Joyce Carrington?

Bryce was Royal Navy but then went into 18 months service with the NSA. It was after his wife's death that he was approached by MI6. Bryce has been a Double-O for 14 years. The annual re-cert with the SAS is something I "borrowed" from Gardner's Role of Honor.
He still is an RNVR Commander. Sub school (two tours on the HMS Revenge) and certified in helicopters and props and jets. Rated at 1000+ hours in the Harrier Mk IV.
Holds a black-belt (Okinawa) in Judo and Aikido (Seoul). Speaks, reads and writes eight languages. He has friends and allies is the Italian SIS, MOSSAD, CIA, NSA, FBI, DEA, MI5, GS-G7, Japanese SIS, Interpol and various police agencies.
Skilled in knives and swords and one of the Double-O sections finest CQC marksmen.
He's a tough bastard, but not a hard man....Only a hard man to kill.
He's battled the KGB, Yakuza, various terrorists, splinter factions of the IRA and the odd meglomaniacal psycho....and been slapped by a few ladies - OK, a couple of those were deserved.
Meet John Bryce - 003.

If only there was more information available on this Bryce character, for instance a book of some sort?
Yes, indeed... But I think I've heard that this John Bryce: The Authorised Biography by John Pearson was soon to be reprinted, fortunately...

Having finally had a chance to read the most recent chapter, I have a question:
Who are the other two 00 agents who are as good pistol shots as Bryce? I assume Bond is one. Is the other Joyce Carrington?
Well, in my universe (at present) # 007 is open and no one holds it. There is a previous holder of the number who has since retired to the tropics. He's nearly eighty, but a charmer and living under an assumed name and identity. One of the few Double-O's to retire rather than being retired.
Joyce is the youngest (32, right babe?) to hold Double-O status both as of age and being female. She's rated enough to keep her to MI6 standards, but yes, O'Shawnassey is the one of the other of the section. It'll be mentioned that the rangemaster takes some action during each months qualifications between the two amongst Q branch techs. The third is a chap named Caldwell - 0013. He's a Yank (and a wank) but a trained US Army Ranger/Sniper of nine years of service. He's been a Double-O for six years.
All shall be revealed soon enough. Not as soon as I would have liked, but soon.
Hey, I walk out the door with him everyday and he's been a part of my life for 27 years. Introducing all to him now is going to be something else.
Thanks for the interest.

Well, it depends... where in the timeline we are... and which timeline you're using. I almost got mine screwed up. Anyway, Joyce was born on October 3, 1973. That makes her 34 at the time of this post.

I did feel a certain obligation to respect your character and time-line.
Fan-fic can be so complicated.
Anyway, enough of this. Myself and the lovely Miss Malice West are decking ourselves out and dancing the night away at Guido's for New Year's. No cars, cabs or parking. Just a stroll down the street. Yeah, you'll see Bryce and Mal. There will be pics.

Sounds like the Brioni will see action one more time in 2-007.That's right. I recall (hazilly from our all-nighter) you giving that date. In Off Balance she's 30 when she gains her Double-O status and 31 in the first novel.

Have a geat time!
Mrs Double-0-7 and myself will follow our usual tradition of watching a few Blockbuster movies and jumping over to Dick Clark's party around 11:30ish. Not very exciting, but it keeps me out of the DUI examination!

I've been working on three scripts:
- "The Ravengers" - Matt Helm returns!
- "The 28" - No comment.
- "I Like To Clash" - The daughter of Honey West makes her debut.
As to NSR - It's done. I just am trying to format it in .pdf and it's a bitch (for me at least) and went through some changes - not bad, but last minute. Kind of like how they put FRWL together if you've watched the SE-DVD doc. I am proud of it though. Also, I'm working up some cover art as well.
Mister Asterix - I'll be needing your skills at some point. Watch your PM's.
It may end up being my Valentine to CBn.
Trust me - None Shall Regret
Lastly, thank you all for the continued interest and comments.

I guess patience is a virtue, and based on the early chapters this novel is well worth waiting for.

At the behest of our own Joyce Carrington and a few others, the notion that I write a full on original John Bryce adventure has been put forth.
It's quite the task, but based on my ToF (Touch of Fleming) bits I've done and posted and others I've written just for a few around here, I'm tempted to go for it.
I have been toying with the idea for a few months now and finally hit upon the title I want to work with.
So, my question is: What does everyone think? Would CBn'ers enjoy a John Bryce adventure as fan-fic?
I'm quite flattered that he will be turning up in the last installment of Fenna's Circle Trilogy and we have been steadily trading emails as to how he'll be represented, but it may be time for this old spy to finally let him fly solo.
So I put to the masses.
Is everyone ready for "None Shall Regret" - A John Bryce 003 Adventure ?
Thoughts please.
Sounds good! I'd read it.
I'm having a similar dilemma, with a character I've created, who doesn't exactly fit as fan-fic though very much inspired by Fleming's novels and the world of Bond. I just finished a full length novel and I'm waiting for my writer partner to do some polishing. I write pretty well alone, so does my writing partner but together we fill any gaps. But anyway, when I have writing downtime like this I like to tinker with short stories as ideas I may use later, but have no place to put them. I used to put them up on an online journal, but my circle of friends weren't interested in spy adventures, or Bond in general, so I got little to nothing from them. I hadn't thought about it until I saw this post.
