None Shall Regret - Discussion

Yes, the flashback to the rooftop confrontation was based on a notion I had discussed with Joyce and Matt when we were in Monte Carlo last year. I think I had mentioned in our posts that I found the city to be very modern but mixed with old world regal. The building is one of the tallest around and loomed in the background over the hotel's rooftop pool. One can only imagine the view from it's roof.
It would certainly lend itself to some great cinematography.
Revisions continue - up to Chapter 12 "Change of Seasons" now. A few new characters turning up. A stunning platinum blonde dressed in blue satin named "Summer" and a curvy brunette in red linen named "Winter".
Yeah, Bryce is in trouble.
Thanks again for your feedback good sir.

An odd coincidence... I know a Summer, who is a statuesque blonde and an impressive poker player to boot.
I eagerly await the remainder!!! My compliments Maestro!

The first 16 Chapters are done and I'm happy with them.
Now we're getting the meaty part and the world threat.
One last tease. Just a line.
009 (Joyce) has just single handedly pumped the slide of an assault shotgun and leveled it at certain culprit.
"Get away from my boys you son-of-a-bitch!"
That's my girl.

Seriously, I'm glad you're taking the time to get it down and get it right; but it is a terrible anticipation of great things that each of us carries as a heavy burden, having read your snippets and the first chapter, along the way.

Then I'm taking a break for London, although I have a feeling I might be writing more on the plane, but I'll probably opt to read some more Fleming instead.
Thanks again everyone.

That's excellent feedback to have, being a pro in the field, Zencat! I am all the more eager for the whole work to emerge.Hey Bryce. I read those first 6 pages that you gave me and I think it's excellent! Strong sense of character and atmosphere. Wonderful details. Very much puts you in that Bryceina world. Very good stuff. I look forward to more.

Praise from Caesar!
Thanks buddy.
Actually though, read the posted chapter. The print out I left you with was missing a few details (earlier draft), but the work continues. But the last chapter has been drafted. As promised, it will really deliver a "YES!" moment that should have everyone cheering better then (or at least as good as) the ending bit of CR.
Both the Admiral and Quartermaster, over our ribs and pints, were given privy to a few parts of the story. Expect quite a few "CBn" cameo's. You'll know who you are.
I've been enjoying wandering about seeing bits of London that are the "Bryceian" (BTW Zen, thanks for that term. Love it. ) spots and I'm sure ACE and I will cover a few more....Well, Pubs that is.
Now, with Lava visiting friends today and that's it's nearly 1pm, time to venture down to Trader Vic's off the hotel's lobby for a Mai-Tai and some shrimp.
Yeah...I know...Sucks to be me.

Oooh, the London Hilton on Park Lane.
What a Bondian life you really do lead.

I apologize for not making my own deadline, but extending my stay in London created a little more catching up on other aspects and you'd be amazed how many calls and emails I've been getting with the Writer's strike on. Everyone's looking for free-lancers and I've taken one, two or even three meetings everyday this week. More development and outline work than writing. No, Eon has not called me to do a final polish on Bond 22...yet.
Also, I can't stop tinkering with the damn thing. Anyway, soon enough and thanks again for all the continued praise and support. This may be the best birthday present I could give myself though and it's actually been quite cathartic as the big 4-0 looms ahead.
I promise that, as author, I'm still sticking to Bryce's three rules:
Never quit.
Never leave anything unsaid.
Never drink blended scotch.
Give me two weeks.

....I find myself saying, what I'm sure Bryce has heard many women say in the past: "More....I want more!"
It's tough work being a spy.
and Pam, true, so true. Miss Sterling, Miss Bellucci, Flicka, Gala, Joyce, Miss Chase, Nurse Schlott.....and always a new surprise about every corner.
Story of my life.
Thanks Pam.

Who is the impertinent young lady in "Story of my life"?

I would certainly have to describe her as a bit of a "vocalist". Very dedicated to the task at hand.

and yes, a little more "happens" in this one.
Start slow, move fast.
Chapter 2 of "None Shall Regret" - "It's Chinatown, Matt" is out there...or is that "in here"?
Enjoy everyone...I hope.

It was strange, but while reading NSR, I was picturing two chaps I met on a mission this summer. Much the same way I picture Connery while reading Thunderball.
A nice taste, I am looking forward to your birthday present to the rest of us at CBn!

Don't worry...I'm not dead yet, but as I've revised and polished, some new ideas surfaced.
Hence, there is already (in literary pre-production) the second John Bryce adventure.
John Bryce 003 returns in "The Finer Details" - January - 2009.
Thanks again for all the comments and critiques and suggestions both in this thread and from those of you that have PM'd me. Greatly appreciated.

Not that I wish computer woes on you, but if these setbacks result in additional novels I'm not entirely against them!
