Where is the report with the worldwide numbers?, I cant find it on the site.

The report for this weekends worldwide boxoffice hasn't come out yet.
Sometimes its late, and unless you stay up all night in the UK,
you won't see it until the morning or when at work.

I thought it would have done better than 1.7 million. More like 2 million. I guess it can't help that Sony is off announcing the DVD. At this point I think the drop off rate could be faster now.

Variety reported worldwide numbers late last night, but in their report they screwed up and listed last week's numbers. Last week Variety claimed a jump of 19.2 million. This week they're saying 18.5 so if that number is correct that puts it at about 549/550, but considering the report I don't know if you can really trust that.

I hope it's true. It seems CR might end up with $565 million or so by the end of its run. Impressive.

Well internationally it's still going strong. It was #2 last week and I don't think it fell too much (if at all) for this week. It could go way past 565. I would say it has a shot at 600, but the analysts seemed to think back in early December it was going to top out at 575. I'd say that's reasonable too. Depends on this week's numbers and lest we forget it still has China at the end of the month which could potentially give it another 10 million.

Yes, China seems to be the determining factor in how well CR will do by the end of its run. As for $600 million, it may have a shot, but just barely. That would be some feat if it ended up happening.

Casino Royale grossed $127,874 at the US box office on Tuesday, according to Box Office Mojo. This brings the overall total to $162,888,378.

As successful as CR has been in the US, I can't help but wonder how much more it would have grossed if it had been playing in the same number of theatres as Happy Feet from day one. HF is currently playing in 1451 theatre's compared to CR's 819. Yet CR's current theatre average is $2,120 compared to HF's $1,394.

Yes, exactly, i had pointed out this on an earlier post.
It seems that theatres were prepared to give HF an advantage over CR in theatre counts.
Maybe as HF was a family film they thought it would appeal to a larger percentage of the
population........but unfortunately they didn't take into account the strong word of mouth for CR which kept its theatre averages high........a shame.

But after its strong opening, wouldn't they, logically, have raised the number of cinemas, instead, as the did, or cutting more out.

Sony's sturdy "Casino Royale" remained the best of the rest with $10.2 million for the weekend, despite having been in theaters for two months in many markets. In particular, Brits stayed attracted to Daniel Craig, giving the pic a sixth-place finish in its ninth week for a cume of $102.8 million -- making it only the third pic to cross the $100 million mark in the U.K. after "Titanic" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."

Box Office Mojo's weekend US box office estimates place Stomp the Yard as the highest grossing film totalling $13.3 million.

Casino Royale is placed 22nd with an estimate of $1.3 million, which brings the overall US total to approx $164,449,000. CR's theatre count has been reduced from 819 to 661.

Box Office Mojo annoys me, because it updates the "domestic" intake, and leaves the foreign/worldwide intake behind several days, which is misleading.

I know what you mean.

I think the reason is its obviuosly a lot easier to collect the boxoffice data from your home
country than to collect all the data from countries around the world, as they would also have
to recalculate the figures in dollars, plus countries around the world are in different timezones
so some boxoffice tracking offices would be closed at night.
Therefore, i presume for the Hollywood film media, its easier to do this task just once a week.
As they give out international estimates Sunday, but it is not until late Monday or Tuesday
that the real figures are calculated, and posted at a handful of boxoffice data sources.
Unfortunately, most sources require a subscription to view this data, 'boxofficemojo'
being an exception, but i sometimes find their figures a bit 'iffy' and don't tie up with the
pay for view sources, which i use such as 'ScreenInternational'.

Its a shame, say that the UK boxoffice is not reported on a daily basis or other major
territories outside the US.

'JC' The boxoffice reports that come out Sunday

are for boxoffice takes for the weekend takes not weekly takes.

As you may know, a weekend in the film world is
Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

It's already got 165 in the bag. Right now it's at 164.5 according to BOM's estimate (including this weekend).

It's gonna be close to 170. I'd say 168.

The $575 million estimate is getting closer and closer now. Going to be very close by the time the premiere in China rolls around.

CR will easily surpass $575 million IMO. I'm not sure it will hit $600 million unless it does amazing business in China, which is possible since the bootlegs won't be such a factor with the movie actually being released in theaters.

We'll see.

About $10m from China I'm guessing.
