So any good news about CR is false and really a plant, and only bad news is true, so CNB is a better source of factual CN news than CBN because CBN has both good and bad news??

No. Not at all, mate. I am empathetic to your frustration. Hence I tried a bit of levity in hailing up some Elliot Carver.

Keep the faith, and all will be revealed on November 17th. In the meantime, don't throw away your waders.

Question: Why when a good review comes out does everyone yell "PLANT!!", can't people take the fact that someone really saw an advanced screening (it does happen with alot of films) and that that lucky SOAB actually liked the film?

Especially news that bags on the title song or the card game. That always makes the boss' real happy.

It's clearly an elaborate stunt, churned through the dark corridors of the EON corporate machine and the slimy tunnels of Sony's Tokyo headquarters. The fact that it's vaguely and hesitantly positive to Craig is a dead give-away.

The grammar clearly also fits the patterns of Sony's Grammar Mangler TM for Windows XP (v2.1), which was released only two months ago (also available on the PS2 and the PSP).

I'm questioning this review because I doubt that the final cut would be already done in late September, especially when the "very rough cut" was shown only about 3 weeks ago. I'm sure the editing is locked down at this point, but there's an innumerable about of stuff as far as music, SFX, sound mix, color balance, dialogue replacement, etc that you'd think would take 3-4 weeks to finish up.

Now, surely they'll have things completely done in 2-3 more weeks, but I somehow doubt they somehow finished the whole thing 3 weeks after the rough cut screening that was reported on AICN. That kind of efficiency generally doesn't happen.

If it was a final cut they wouldn't be screening it.

LOL

Just before leaving the office for the screening, the boss told them, "Tell everybody the theme song sucks!"

Can you blame them sometimes? Be honest. Marketers can play very dirty. They've done it before. There are organizations in this world that seemingly exist to specifically "shill" products on message boards - to pass themselves off as innocent-looking and in some cases long-time posters whereby later they can give a perfectly timed testimony of how great a certain product is. Nvidia was accused of this earlier this year and it caused a major ruckus throughout the gaming 'verse. It's been around for a long time. It's sometimes called "astroturfing." Happens on AICN all the time too.

Not saying it's true for this specific case (God, I hope not), but I don't blame the people that believe it to be a plant. Not one bit.

Cynisism has it's place in the world. I for one have no idea whether this is an honest account or some sinister plant. My hunch is that it's an honest review.

It could, in my view, easily also be a completely made up review. Nothing in there really strikes me as completely new. I can't imagine anyone being bothered to do that though.

EON will pay huge sums to have a positive review posted on reader comments IMDB. It's the difference between a $400 million film and a flop!

Indeed. If they were going to put a fake review on the net, why would they put it on the message board of the IMDB?

Not saying it's real or fake - I'm inclined to think real, but how would I know. To not question at the least, in this day and age as far as I'm concerned, is naive. (Which for the record I'm not calling any of you - by having this discussion you've at least thought of it)

Let's face it ALL studios use plant on these sites, even our beloved Bond producers...plus, just wait until some neg-head troll posts some crap review about it somewhere and we all freak out...

I'm not believing [censored] !

We're so close to the movies release! We only have 43 more days to go, and if you need a good sneak just watch that trailer again!

Plant or no plant I like this "gordonfinch". Some of his resposes to our old friend NetGeek/MooMooo are amusing.

"You do know CR will gross less than 100 million US domestic, Gordon?

If people want Bourne they've got The Bourne Ultimatum out next year. They don't need a British version of it. Why is Eon so convinced people want a more Bourne type Bond film? "

"No i don't know that and neither do you. that's another thing you just pulled out of your [censored]! i feel i got an unfair advantage. i keep forgeting you haven't seen the film yet. "

I like this guy! :)

You guys don't know it, but there are EON plant on this board too.

I've just been assigned by the powers that be here at CBN, to "terminate" two of these plants, to earn my 00 numbers.

The first one didn't die easy.

The second... well

Considerably

Soo bloomin excited now!

Gald to hear his comments about the slightly more violent deaths because I think this will make Craig's reactions and emotions seems all the more real.

Also great to hear about the very end, I was a little unsure about not hear the theme until the credits, but it might just be ok :)

There are 20 filims preceeding Casino Royale that contain gunbarrels, one film without it is not going to kill the series.

The film doesn't have the normal opening gunbarrel and the usual sequence at the start is in BLACK AND WHITE!

I think the best way to read that line of the review is with emphasis on "normal". There is a gunbarrel, but it is not what we have come to expect over the years, i.e. Craig is not wearing a dinner suit, and walking across a plain white background. He is, as you correctly stated, in a toilet.

No, I've thought of fake reviews in newspaper ads. Hiring somebody to post a fake review at IMDB? MGM and Sony would have fired that guy five years ago to meet budgets, if they ever would have bothered at all. Especially a guy who bags on the card game as too long and boring and says the other Bond films suck for the most part. That guy would not be considered a valued member of the production team.

Do you think that Michael and Barbara stay up late posting fake reviews on fan boards?

No, not the production team or the producers personally. Marketers. You seem to be neglecting the fact that there are companies that actually do this. I'm sorry to drop the bombshell on you, but companies shill. It frequently happens on AICN which is why so many call "plant" from time to time.

I also never called it fake so I really don't see why you're questioning me on various aspects of the review. If you choose to believe it's real, then that's your opinion and that's fine with me. Please note that I never disagreed.

Funniest thing I've read in quite a while - Nicely done! :P

Back on topic, I'm uncertain about the validity of the review, but it seems sincere - I don't think a plant would go out of its way to de-value the older films in the series.

But like Skudor said, they could be just that clever... :)

Marketing companies do not hire people to post on IMDB. Especially reviews that don't like parts of the film. In industry-speak, this is called a "huge waste of time."

They aren't marketing to film fans on chatroom boards. They know those people are GOING to the movie. I have a company that sometimes markets films for studios on the Internet. The studios wised up to that money-grab years ago...
