I LOVE IT! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! It has a cinematic feel to it (orchestra and horns) and has emotion! I have listened to it a couple of times and its highly addictive ... the odds will betray you, and I will replace you ... Why would anybody say **front page** its doesn't have a hook? Bond fans are not going to be satisfied unless its a overcooked brooding ballad ... whats wrong with an emotionally charged energetic take!!! Give the song a chance!!!

Plus, I have a feeling that the rawness that comes through this song will be essentially in the movie (i.e Craig's take on bond) ... a perfect complement IMHO.

It's continuing to grow on me. An improvement on the Brosnan themes I believe. I was listening to it with more defined speakers earlier and there are a lot of orchestral sounds which may be more exaggerated in the final version I imagine.

It ends sort of like a live Eurovision "rock" song performance would end :) .

The nail on the head has been hit. Absolutely. I annoys me as I'm quite content with the rest of the song.

Say what you want but this is clearly the worst song of the Bond series. It would be OK to play at the end of the film but certainly not as the main title song. If this is indeed the finished product then I would be shocked if EON gave it a thumbs up, absolutely shocked. I'm a rock fan too and love Audioslave, but this song is not Bond material and even worse than the dreadful Lulu tune for TMWTGG. When I first heard it I thought is was a joke played on Bond fans. I played it at work for countless people, who are tired of my Casino Royale updates no doubt, and every single one said it was horrible. Men and women alike all hated the song and said there is no way that is the real theme and that I was duped into believing it was the real deal. I hope they are right, but I'm afraid they aren't. This could really hurt the film as the theme song should be catchy and Bondesque. You Know My Name clearly is NOT!

:) I hate to break this to everyone, but did it ever occur that since this song is leaked premature, that all the post production values are MISSING?

I mean come on - the synthesizer and the faint cheesy horns all seem to me like they are nothing but placemarkers for a real orchestra to lay in the tracks.

Even the guitar doesn't have a lot of balls to it - the licks are fine - they just need a little more layering to it.

This clearly sounds like a work in process - not the song, but all the production values - I would bet the final song stays true to the lyrics melody and verse, but we are going to get a real orchestra, real horns, finished guitar and everything else Mr. Arnold can throw at this song to give it some punch.

On that note, I will tell you that if he finishes it off the way he has on the rest of his title songs (including Surrender from KD Lang which got booted on Tommorrow NEver Dies to the end no thanks to Cheryl Crow), it will ROCK.

Get ready for a big surprise. And If I'm David Arnold right now, Im probably PISSED this got leaked. Only a bond film would get the song leaked 2 months before the primere.

Did I mention that I love this song! And David, if you happen to be reading the feedback on here - as a musician and a VERY long time Bond fan, you keep doing what you're doing. John Barry is in there, and you have brought it all forward - great work.

That's not synth - that's actual strings, and actual brass. At first I thought they were synths, but I turned up the orchestra with mixing, and it's the real deal.

And this is the version of the song that was distributed to radio stations.

Love the song because it is upbeat. The chorus is great, gets you in the mood of an action thriller. Been listening to it all day.

I doubt we'll see any drastic changes between what we have now and when the film comes out. Back when Garbage's tune leaked, it was pretty much the same as the final version, so I'm betting the song we're listening to now, is pretty much it.

To some that's a disappiontment, to others they don't mind (like me).

Well, there will probably be some differences in mixing (as there was between the CD version of TWINE and the film version - there are a lot of subtle differences there). I think the orchestra will be a ton louder in the film, or at least I hope it will. And I do pray they'll get rid of those echoes on the bridge. Corny, corny, corny, and this is coming from someone who has really grown to love the song.

Man, what a thread. I have yet to hear the song, but I don't know what to think. You Know My Name definitely seems to be a case of either loving it or hating it with virtually no middle ground. After reading these posts it seems about 2/3 like it or love it and about 1/3 dislike it or hate it. Makes me almost scared to listen to it for fear that I won't like it, which, based strictly on what people have written, I'm inclined to believe that I would fall into the latter category. (In addition, Chris Cornell was NOT anywhere near my top choices to perform the theme song so this thread does not inspire a lot of confidence on my part.)On the positive side, however, most people seem to agree it gets better the more times you hear it, so that's good. Nevertheless, I am keeping an open mind and I look forward to hearing it at some point and, hopefully, I'll like it.

The best thing to do, is throw out all expectations. I was expecting something way different when I hit play on the file I had...and I was still shocked (not in a bad way though). Honestly though, it does take one or two listens to get used to, this literally is nothing we've ever heard before associated with the Bond series.

I've listened to it quite a few times now, and I have to say that it is not growing on me.

As much as I'm enthusiastic about the film itself, the song is a complete wasted opportunity, especially when there are dozens of more famous male singers out there who would have cut their right arm off to do this.

Imagine if it had been Robbie Williams, or Noel Gallagher, or Bono, or even George Michael. At least it would have pushed the rather dreary song more into the limelight.

But no - instead some cheap rock singer who sounds like he is performing for a B-side record off an 80's Simpson/Bruckheimer movie (note I said B side - not good enough to make it onto the album itself).

Rant over.... :)

It's the best Bond song since 'Surrender' and arguably the best theme since 'Nobody Does It Better'.

It does sound like 1980s hair metal (whoever said "Whitesnake" was spot-on) but it's a fantastic song. Ignore the arrangement if you don't like rock music and just listen to the actual music.

I think it'll win the Oscar for best song.

I was hoping for something more "rockish", the song is a little tame, but it's OK. It's better than the audioslave songs, which are just too tame.

Edit: After taking my time to listen to a whole bunch of AS songs, I've changed my mind, Audioslave ROCKS! My favourite so far is Your time has come :) But why do they have to be so christian. It pulls it down a bit when they mention jesus and heaven in their songs. Is it too much asked for a cool band that does not have anything to do with religion?

It's not quite what I was expecting... but like seemingly everything about CR, I love it. The song has a very ballsy, bombastic feel to it, which is very Bond. It reminds me of "Thunderball" sung by Tom Jones in tonality, but updated for the 21st century.

A couple things:

1. The lyric is "The coldest blood runs through my veins". No, really.

2. To people who say this is the worst song of the Bond series: Really? This is worse than "All Time High" by Rita Coolidge? Worse than "License to Kill" by Gladys Knight? Stephen Hawking says you're SO WRONG a pocket universe was created just to contain it all.

I must say, it's definitely a grower. Got some nice melodies in there. I can see it being quite a hit with music fans.

Yeah, let's get a wussy pop singer or a classic singer to do the theme! That would sound SO cool! :)

I was hoping for something more "rockish", the song is a little tame, but it's OK. It's better than most of the audioslave songs, which are just too tame.

I'm all for rock songs. Noel Gallagher should have done this, in the vein of LALD (after all, he is very good at ripping off Beatle tracks).....

Still cannot help but feel this could have been so much more. It is definitely NOT a classic Bond song, and belongs right at the bottom of the list along with all the other recent Brosnan garbage.

Disappointed..... :P

Actually, the other Brosnan garbage, especially the ones written by David Arnold (as well as ALL the other 21 Bond songs, and I'm including even Never Say Never Again), have a major advantage over YKMN: you could sing and whistle along. Which leads me to

Give the song a chance!!

An orchestral, well- written theme doesn't equal an "overcooked brooding ballad".
I'm not trying to offend anyone, and excuse me if I do, but only the new Top 10 generation could narrow down a cinematic feel to the description "orchestra and horns", and call YKMN "emotionally charged".

Once again, people can love this song as much as they want to, I have no problem with that. But that doesn't mean YKMN is appropriate and deserves the praise.

The basic approach of it may not be so wrong, but the execution of it definitely is.
