Is it just me, or is it a bit odd that this song isnt about "Casino Royale"

what do you think the title is different this time around?

I think it's you. The song IS about "Casino Royale" the movie.

Why do I think the title is different?

Because it would be too cheesy to actually not have it different.

Im not against the song at all. Personally i think it fits the bond persona quite nicely. I just remember during the Goldeneye to DAD years, the song was titled like the movie...thats all. And yes there have been others with nothing to do with the title itself. I was only curious about it not tieing into the title since i havent seen this since the earlier bond movies. Interesting indeed :)

I see what you're trying to convey. It's just that simply trying to 'fit' a song title to a movie's title smacks of 'cheesiness' especially when the title lacks a radio friendly 'ring' to it.

In the end, the song is a vehicle to build awareness for the product without it bordering on the obviousness or being cheesy.

Octopussy cries out for an alt. title which it got. Somehow Moonraker and GoldenEye would have been better off if they'd gone the Casino Royale route.

Wow...the new version of YKMN is terrible, the older on is better imo. :)

I don't get why people here think YKMN is a bad song, compare it to such mellow stuff as Nobody Does It Better and You Only Live Twice, those wouldn't work with this film.

It also has my fave opening verse of any Bond song ever.

Now that I've listened to YKMN a good 7 or 8 times, I find it quite catchy. I like the orchestration, and don't mind Cornell's voice at all. Best song since Goldeneye, IMO. (By the way, why don't I hear mauch about that song in Bond song discussions? I thought it to be pretty iconic as a Bond song...)

I feel it's pretty mediocre, actually. The Ace of Base version is much better.

I disagree. I find it to be a top 5 Bond song myself.

I heard You Know My Name for the first time today in any form during the opening credits of Casino Royale so I am now ready to comment on it.

When the song was first revealed, there was quite a bit of negative backlash to it that after reading everyone's comments I felt that I would be inclined not to side with those who did not like it. But now having heard it, I must say that I DO like it. (Having it played over Daniel Kleinman's awesome titles I'm sure doesn't hurt. :P ) It does sound Bondian and probably would make my top 10 Bond songs. (I need to hear it a few more times to be certain.) It's not at the very top of my favorite 007 themes, but I think it's safe to say that it's in the top half.

The only real problem I have with the song is that I find most of the lyrics incomprehensible. It's even worse than a-ha's The Living Daylights (which I too like). I'll need to read over the lyrics to try to follow along with the song to understand it better. Other than that, David Arnold and Chris Cornell have my kudos for a job well done in writing the new Bond theme. :)

I haven't seen the film yet, but just went and grabbed the song after reading it was 'a dud' by a review.

It doesn't make me shake in my shoes, but I like it's slightly gritty sound.
