Men want to be him, women want to be with him :)

I've been a Bond fan as long as I can remember.. As a woman, I've never actually thought that it might be odd to be a female Bond fan - it's a hot guy running around sexily shooting at bad guys for a few hours... who can resist?!

Actually, now that I'm a little older and know a little more about the background of the character and the literary Bond, I'm obviously into more than the eye candy.. I think in some fantastic parallel universe, I'd rather be a fellow MI-6 agent than a Bond girl now (there's some feminism for you!)

My girlfriemd and I finished the Roger Moore era this past weekend and now it's onto Timothy Dalton. Somewhat surprisingly she seemed to really enjoy A View to a Kill but then she also is a Californian native and her family own a house about an hour from San Francisco - so that could account for part of it.
Next up is Timothy Dalton :)

Yes, well my wife is coming to see CR with me when it comes out in December. But although she likes his body, she doesn't think Daniel looks right for Bond.

I am a women and I absolutely love the James Bond films, more so than my father or all the other men in my family. I've been a fan since like I was 12 years old.

That is good. How did you get into the Bond films in the first place???

Well it was a combination of things and I don't remember in what order they came first...but anyways here's how it went: I owned the Nintendo 64 and bought the Goldeneye game. Back then I didn't know a whole lot about James Bond, just what I saw in the game. I was hooked so much on that game that I later bought the movie and watched it. I liked it a lot. I remember that that was the time when Tomorrow Never Dies opened and it was on a winter vacation so I went and saw it. That was the first James Bond movie I saw in theatres. I loved that one and loved Pierce Brosnan in it. And then two years later The World is not Enough opened and I went and saw it. I absolutely loved that one also. Even more than TWINE or Goldeneye. So by that Christmas I bought all the films on DVD and watched them. So that's how I've been hooked with James Bond ever since and why Pierce is my favorite Bond. :)

Hey :P

That's pretty much how became into Bond. Before I was a Star Wars fan, but I don't really care for that now.

It was Goldeneye 64 that bought me to the love of Bond. We went to see TND and I had asked for GE on video at christmas. I then had all the film on video until 2001 when I bought the SE dvd's

I'm surprised by how few women members of CB.n there are as opposed to men and I think it reflects a slightly larger male fan base but also that men are more likely to sit around and talk and think about it for hours, so while there are probably plenty more female Bondfreaks out there, they just don't tend to hang around these kinds of forums. Most people I know, and here is where I realise I know far more men than women (but that's because of my job - not a prostitute) say they like Bond but are not that into it and I don't see any gender divide. My various boyfriends and husbands over the years have always been happy to dive into Bondworld to please me, whereas female friends don't bother, they remain casual fans.

I'm fine with sarcasm. Use a bit too much of it myself (apologies to those who've been on the wrong end...), but what exactly was the point of your original response in this thread? Who was moaning necessitating the 'ain't life a bitch'? Not me.

My fiancee loves the Bond films, but mainly uses them as a sleeping aid for afternoon naps. Means that I often have to watch the same film several weeks in a row as she insists she can 'finish it this time' LOL. Unlike me she's mainly a Roger fan.

I started reading Fleming at 13 and straight away it was "why do you read those" or your weird. Now I don't care of course, easier as an adult you can do as you please.

Well if it makes you feel any better, my current husband has never seen a Bond film, never read a Bond book, couldn't tell you the names of the Bond actors or most of the films.

We have more interesting things to talk about, plus he doesn't speak any English, plus we're doing the long distance thing for visa reasons. He knows about James Bond the character because I've told him, and I will show him the films eventually, they just weren't widely available where we lived. Yes, people who don't know about James Bond films really do exist, hard as that is to believe.

More girls than not enjoy bond films. I have a family blood line attached to it. My grandparents had a night out in 1962, saw some movie called "Dr. No" decided to watch it, and my grandma loved it. And Sean Connery.

Needless to say they saw all of Conneries and OHMSS. Although they stopped there because they think RM is too comical, my dad picked up at TB and has seen most of them up till now. My mom even liked the films.
Answering your question... alot of girls like Bond as much as guys. Just less of the girls exist these days as harder leaner action stars are in the limelight.
