He does have a jacket in his hand...I don't think the T-shirt is gonna be seen in the final product.

Exactly. In the one still, he's even wearing the jacket.

Sorry, but I appear to be the only bloke who thinks this is still disastrous casting. I just think that this project is troubled and no one wants to really admit it.

I don't think it's a bad as you suggest, but I will say this: I came here so that I could read/hear some positive reactions to this news.

Good for you. I'm not complaining about Craig because as far as I'm concerned the series couldn't have gotten any worse than DUD.

I didn't like how Craig looked at the press conference, to be honest. He doesn't look comfortable in a suit and he would not work with coiffed hair. I'm happy to see their are letting Craig be Craig and letting him be his own Bond instead of an imitation of what went before or an attempt to shoehorn him into the stereotypical image of 007.

Agreed. I do think he can pull off a suit, if it's the right suit. Ready for more pics now.

Why wouldn't Bond wear a teeshirt and that jacket? He'd be unlikely to go into a situation where he knows he needs to dish out the ultraviolence in a tux!

Bond is a human being in this film. Like normal human beings, he'll wear smart clothes where appropriate and doss-around clothes when he's at home or training . . . or beating someone up!

If the pix aren't from the Casino Royale set, where else would DC be getting himself cut and bruised?!

Great pics  . It's hard to say whether his hair has been dyed or not, but it does look considerably darker in these pictures, and gives us a good view of how his hair would look if dyed a bit. We can all see how "well 'ard" he looks, and these pictures suggest how different Craig's Bond will be to Brosnan's-he'll be much more rough around the edges, and more akin to a "real" spy. All round approval :D

Oh I think he looks very stylish in a suit. Not least in Layer Cake where he turns in a very fashionable elegance; in a suit in several places.

He's clearly still blonde but I think there's a good chance his natural colour will have been toned down ever so slightly- it's just the way of moviemaking. That said, the state of his hair in these shots (greased and ruffled) makes it look even darker. I'm pleased to see he's still blonde- it's more interesting.
Oh, and I'm blonde too :D

Very promising, and to those that are complaining he is carrying a jacket in the two walking pictures and appears to be wearing it in the first one. We dont know the context of this scene or if they way he is dressed is exactly how he looks in the scene clothes-wise. He probably is wearing that t-shirt with a jacket over it. The scene as we have heard involves some kind of fight in an embassy.

You must be new around these parts...

Seriously, though, a few minutes perusing the boards will turn up plenty of anti-Craig sentiment. I give you much credit, though, for not passing final judgement until you see the finished product.

As for the photos, I don't think Craig looks particularly "muscle-bound"; he's cut, but he's still not a "big" guy. (Heck, I wouldn't mind if he were a little beefier.)

I do like the hair though. I think the shorter 'cut suits him.

Funny, you would never hear criticism when some pics of Connery in a swimming suit would go out for, say, Goldfinger.

However, every pic of Craig will be debated and criticised as if he would wear the clothes or looks that way in all the movie.

I say it's a matter or class. You either inspire trust and admiration in the majority, or you don't. Hell, I forgave Sean his pic tie. Looks like Craig is in for a long fight... with the fans !

There was no complaint in my post. The implication was that I had to come here to read something positive, as the opinions I had read/heard elsewhere were, to put it mildly, not.

His hair looks near jet black to me in the first pic (sprinkled with uber metrosexual blonde frosted tips, I might add).

Welcome to the 21st Century, Mr. Bond.
Daniel Craig IS James Bond 007

Look at Daniel Craig as James Bond. His hair style and attire is very modern looking. He looks more like Jason Bourne than the other five actors especially Pierce Brosnan. In my opinion, this isn't a bad thing because I love his overall look in the shots released today. However, these pictures are visual proof that Casino Royale will indeed be much different than anything we've seen before. What are your thoughts? Do you like the 21st Century look?

I want to qualify this in that it's not an absolute judgement. It's based on a single photograph that may not be the exact final product (let's face it, Craig has to wear suits and the like for the majority of the film, and so I'm curious how that'll look - though IMO he does look dashing in a suit).

But yes, I do. I love how Craig looks in those photos, and I couldn't be more excited for his new portrayal. He's really going to make the role his own. That's an exciting thing.

I once suggested a while ago that CASINO ROYALE transform Bond into the modern man of today - a contemporary figure that has the same essence of the character of the 60s. It seems they're doing just that. I couldn't be happier.

Hair looks good. I hope he does wear a suit in this movie at least. He is not Rambo but James Bond.

He's going to wear a suit (and likely quite frequently wear a suit as well). He does go to a casino.

If they were stills of Casino Royale they would have been released by Sony and made available to all media outlets. Sony have not released these to the company I work for (Post Newsweek Media) so I determine that these are simply paparazzi pictures.

These pictures do very little for me, they show nothing very Bondian so far.

(not meant in any bashing way, they are so non-news)

Well, if you are waiting on Eon to give you anything official, good luck. We had to find out through other sources CR was even filming.

I'm pretty thrilled to have anything at this point. It's been four years, after all. And these show me Bond is back.

Good stuff.

DC should be great as a reinvigorated 007.

For those that think these pics show him as blonde, you should check the tint on your computer monitor. He obviously has the dark, black hair commonly associated with Bond.

I couldnt agree more, after looking at those pictures I dont see how anyone can say that Craig is ugly, sure he looks very different than Brosnan but he isnt ugly by any means. I can easily imagine him as Bond, he appears to be carrying a suit in his hands so just imagine him as he looks now but with a suit on. With each new actor Bond has a new apperance naturally and Craig's wont differ any more than any other actor did.

Daniel Craig is the first new Bond of the 21st Century, the first generation X Bond, the first Bond born after the release of Dr. No and the first Bond under 40 years of age since OHMSS.

Ooh very nice. That hair looks most definitely to be a brownish shade - it's quite possible that it was in fact dyed. Who knows?

Daniel Craig has the acting ability and from the photos looks in great shape to take on the mantle of James Bond. However his appearance lets him down in a few crucial ways. Firstly he looks considerably older than his 37 years and thus is not fledgeling material for a secret agent. He looks a more seasoned SIS operative and hopefully Casino Royale will reinvent the relationship with Vesper to some extent and make full use of the torture scene from the book to balance out the film. Secondly his height could still be a problem, I note that IMDB state he is 5'11 which is fine in intself. However a tall henchman or villan at 6'3 or above would cause him real problems on the big screen. Yes a good physical build is needed for the part but Bond also has to have some stature to emphasis his pressence. Brosnan, Dalton, Moore, Lazenby and ofcourse Connery are all 6ft plus. We will have to wait and see if Mr Craig walks tall in the part in more ways than one.

If he is 5'11 I think that his body build makes him look taller than that. Look at that photo of him walking, he looks like a pretty big guy there, all it would take is camera techniques to make him look big if he really is as short as people make him out to be.

Not that height matters to me anyway.
