Well, possibly, but I can't see how he enjoyed the high life in the navy, which he's just left, or recently left.
A buff Bond....before he discovers the "high life."
Honestly... I hope not. I like the whole Bond Begins thing, but I don't think anyone needs a reason as to why they like the high life. He just does.

I don't think he "discovers" the high life. That's just part of who he is - as it is that he discloses his recipe for his martini in this film. He's just a stylish, particular kind of guy.Well, possibly, but I can't see how he enjoyed the high life in the navy, which he's just left, or recently left.

And he's not straight out of the navy as we know:

In my mind he started enjoying the high life while being in MI6?/SIS, while assuming various roles during his missions.I don't think he "discovers" the high life. Officers in the Navy are quite often posh fellas and have been born into the high life to start with. Let's not forget he went to Eton: he's no chavscum from the streets, our Jimmy.

No such thing as Bond Begins.
Reboot means that we have new actor not how Bond become Bond.
I was in anti Craig brigade, im still not sure about him, but i was exited after seeing those 2 pics, so ill wait till November to judge him.

funny, because the producers and director and Craig have all said that this is the film where we see how Bond becomes the Bond we know....

I believe you're gravely mistaken. The whole point of doing CASINO ROYALE was to see "How Bond becomes Bond" with the introduction of the Aston Martin, Bond explaining his martini recipe, and on and on. They cast Judi Dench apparently because Campbell loves her as an actress.yes with Judi Dench in this movie?? i doubt

You're one of the few who's still unconvinced of this. The "Bond Begins" aspect has been confirmed time and time again.

Definitely the toughest looking Bond actor since Connery, actually looks tougher than Connery.
I completely agree with you, which is why I sort of laugh and shake my head at people who say that CR will pick up from LTK. Please Craig's Bond looks as if he could his five predecessors for breakfast! He looks vicious and tough, yet not like a 'knuckle dragger'. What a great body! This is definetly a new James Bond who will appeal to 16 year old video playing boys whom they are aiming for. I really hope that they don't try and overplay the 'suaveness' and Bond as a sophisticate.

I seem to have been wrong about Craig, he looks like he'll be a good James Bond, my one problem with him now is I still don't think Pierce Brosnan should have ended with the piece of crap known as DAD.
I don't get what the big problem was, the last films for Connery and Moore were

But thats a different topic entirely...

I don't understand one thing, why some fans have to bash one actor for being cast as James Bond, even without see his portrayal?!
![]()
![]()
I tell you one thing, no matter which actor they would choose, I would support the actor always, because in my ingenuity, I believe the Eon people only wants the best for the franchise, not the worst. Sure, we the fans had our favourite for the role, I for one wanted Adrian Paul for it, but I didn't got it that way, and because of that I'm not sad, on the other way I'm very excited for this movie. Even if they choose Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen or any other actor I would suportive.
Why can't all of us, be sailing the same wave, and support Mr Craig, and give him a chance, hey?!![]()
Quite right! I've still not seen much of Craig in action on screen, but I know that I do want him to do well as Bond, so that our favourite franchise not only endures, but improves. I would have leaned more towards Dougray Scott, myself, but now that Craig's Bond, I'll give him my full support.
And these pictures look awfully not bad!

And another thing...
anyone want to speculate whether he's wearing lifts? In the walking shots his boots look rather "full".
Just a little something for those who think he might not be tall enough for Bond.
Then again, you wouldn't say that to his face, would you.
No you would not.
Yes his boots are stocky...they are walking boots so of course they look like that. May not even be his costume, just a tight shirt/vest he was wearing under his costume and thrown on a pair of old trousers and boots to walk about in to go for his lunch. Who knows, but if you watch the end of Dr No Sean is wearing a ripped, dirty and blood-stained tight t shirt and pyjama trousers...with slippers I think! So you never know what the story is in the film.

I guess this might have already been posted on this thread but i'm amazed how Craig continues to look different in almost every photo i see of him. It's infuriating! I'm looking for someting from him that I can praise as so far i've not been a fan. The first photo looks great - hair in particular seems fine to me (and that seems the big problem for some people) then there's the second photo - all tight T-shirt and spikey hair do - dreadful. I dunno, we'll have to wait and see.
I agree. You are not the only one who has noticed how different Daniel Craig looks in almost every photo of him that you see. He appears to have chameleon like qualities.

Agreed. However, while it definitely can be frustrating, especially when the anti-Craig brigade selectively chooses his worst photographs to complain about, I think it could very well turn out to be a positive, in that it is almost guaranteed he'll look great in the actual movie, even if he looks terrible coming right off set. After all, he does have lighting, make-up, and overall movie magic to help with whatever boost his chameleon-esque tendencies may provide.I agree. You are not the only one who has noticed how different Daniel Craig looks in almost every photo of him that you see. He appears to have chameleon like qualities.
He just seems to be one of those rare specimens who can look either ugly or handsome at his discretion.

Perhaps, like me, it's wishful thinking that they're not going down the idiotic and self-indulgent Bond Begins route after all.
Personally, I couldn't give a toss why Bond started drinking martinis. If Fleming himself wasn't interested in Bond's backstory, nor am I.

Yeah, unfortunately, they really are doing the Bond Begins thing. EON isn't exactly known for their originality.
Indeed. Prequels/reboots/Begins are so 2005 and already old-hat.
Once Eon set the standard in action-adventure moviemaking. Now they puff along behind the pack desperately trying to play catch-up. A pity.

Another weak point: Warner Bros. did "Batman Begins" after "Batman and Robin" nearly killed their franchise. But "Die Another Day" was a huge hit.
