Standing next to 6'3" Eric Bana didn't diminish Craig's presence in MUNICH at all.
This is quite true.

Filmmakers made grown men look like hobbits and dwarves in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy...I am sure they will be able (if necessary) to make Craig look six feet tall (as Fleming described Bond).

Yup. In fact, Craig actually stole presence away from Bana, I think. He just had that raw charisma that Bana didn't, despite Bana's being the meatier character.

The coolest Bond since Dalton? How about the coolest Bond since Connery. I know that's saying a lot, but he definitely has a far better "cool" vibe and far more charisma than Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, or Brosnan did, judging from his performances in LAYER CAKE and MUNICH.Are we still on his height? He's the coolest Bond since Dalton....Who cares if he if 5'10", 5'9", or 6'2"?

This film will obviously be different, and it looks like it will conflict with some of the assumed institutions of bond (such as his Navy background) but I am happy to let the existing back-catalogue of bond stand as it is, a solid anthology of James Bond... but now, in 2006, Roll on November 17th and lets take a look at what a new perspective on 007 will show us. I know only 2 things, we will have NEVER seen it before. and it will be the first bond in MANY years to leave us Shaken, but not stirred.

I don't disagree with anything you said. I just used Dalton as my barometer since he is my favorite Bond. For me it's Dalton, Connery, Lazenby (which I realize is not really fair since he only did one. Yet everytime I read a Fleming novel, I envision Lazenby...Don't know why), Brosnan, and way, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, Moore.
I am hopeful and CONFIDENT Craig will quickly move into the number 2 slot. He was TERRIFIC in "Munich." My favorite character in the movie. His character rightly had no "angst" about killing terrorists. I hope Craig brings that same moral clarity to Bond.

He looks more like Jason Bourne than the other five actors. What are your thoughts? Do you like the 21st Century look?
I was right from the very start. They ARE trying to clone Bourne. Which is somewhat sad because Bond doesn't need to emmulate any franchise.
I just hope Daniel can live up tot he hype and the pedastool you all put him up on.

Just out of curiosity - is it a common practice on this board to take subjects and information that is posted elsewhere and rehash it under a new thread so that the focus is drawn to that new person's particular thoughts? That seems to happen quite often here and is IMHO poor etiquette. I realize the board moderators combine posts quite often and can't police 24 hours a day - but come on people show respect for others and quit being lazy or self centered by duplicating data. I realize I'm a newcomer in the scope of things and risk being criticized - but stop wasting everyone's time by making us think you have something new to share.
Oddly enough this thread was started by a moderator.

You should know better!

Hmm, looks like they didn't exactly want to make his dye-job look too obvious. Darker than normal though, I presume.
I'm pysched.

Looking at these pics, I can't say he looks tougher than Sean. Dirtier, yes.
Also hard to say for sure if he is more muscular than Sean in DR.NO, or George in OHMSS. You'd be surprised how a tight t-shirt can fool the eye. If he were in a t-shirt that was one size larger, most here would be describing him as wiry.
Someone wake me when something worth 7 pages of posts comes up.

It's funny how so many can get so excited over 3 blah photos. I'm not impressed.

Have to agree. These snapshots aren't anything to get excited over. I'll wait and see as they progress along. What is it? Just Day 2 of shooting? I'm sure something a lot cooler may come along...

Hmmmmmmmmm..........I can't say 3 pictures mean we will have a great Bond film.

It's to be expected 3 pictures would generate excitment here but will that translate to the straight world? Bill Murray would get it BUT will the straights?
Holy crap, was that a Ghostbusters 2 joke?

Definitely the toughest looking Bond actor since Connery, actually looks tougher than Connery.
He looks tough and that's cool BUT if he was standing next to the rest of the Bonds he certainly wouldn't look like the toughest. Despite the muscles he still has a slighter frame and is shorter. I'm not knocking him--it certainly looks he can handle the tough part of Bond with ease. It's just that out of isolation his slighter stature would be noticiable which in comparison wouldn't make him the toughest looking Bond. But he's definitely tough enough.
I don't think Robert Conrad as James West, was tall. In fact, he was smaller than most of us, but that didn't stop him to make his character great, though, and in fact, one of the best of the Bond wannabes wagon.

Bond fans love a good biceps. However, we should note these are not movie pictures, hence the greyness in them certainly will not reflect the look of the final product. Let's wait and see. I hope the teaser will be good.

These are not stills of Casino Royale...relax...
How do you work that out? I think the photo agency knows.
If they were stills of Casino Royale they would have been released by Sony and made available to all media outlets. Sony have not released these to the company I work for (Post Newsweek Media) so I determine that these are simply paparazzi pictures.
Erm.. which bit of the bit where I said these were paparazzi shots in the very post in this thread confused you? Of course they're not official- they're from AFP.

As for the look, he seems more like he's just had a tough rugby practice, but saving the world takes it toll.
As to PTS speculation, this could be Bond's look prior to becoming a polished Double-O.
Man, I love knowing a Bond film is in production.

Yup, I'd have to go for that feeling too. I wonder if there's a reason- perhaps a little hair growth planned? Or just a lack of cast? Not that I want longer hair, but you never know what they're thinking. Perhaps they haven't got his suits made yet!

LOL!
Obviously they need to get to Brioni while they're shooting in Italy. Maybe that's the plan. Save all those shipping costs. No matter what the budget, on a film in production, every penny counts.

A buff Bond....before he discovers the "high life."
Honestly... I hope not. I like the whole Bond Begins thing, but I don't think anyone needs a reason as to why they like the high life. He just does. And hopefully that's why he gets chosen for the casino job; I think doing a Pygmalion on rough Jimmy 'Hard-as-Nails' Bond would undermine the character slightly- it'd make it seem as if he's been pretending to be something he's not for the last 40 years. Hope that doesn't sound fanboy over-dramatic!
