What I mean by naive is someone who does not see the evil in her father/lover/whatever organization she loves/works until Bond is able to allow her to connect the dots. Loneliness is the way she carries herself, Bond can see that she is missing something, and that he is the only man who can fill that void in her life. Maybe a close friend or relative of hers died and Bond could then offer her comfort.

Thanks for passing on that memo, Welshcat!

To Scrambled Eggs-very good point, I always see Bond in his thirties, maybe he would go for a woman in her 40's, but on film, it might not fly. Maybe a single mother in her 20's-30's. I am working on a fan fic similar to that right now btw.

Here's something that occured to me today.

Bond's parents died when he was very young, if you were going to psychoanalyse him you'd suggest that his serial monogamy is the embodiment of his constant search for the female affection he missed out on as a child.

So, mightn't Bond be partial to a mothering type? A woman who could comfort the poor lost boy inside him?

A glamourous, sophisticated, experienced yet caring older woman might be the ideal Bond girl for the 21st century?

Hey, if Judi Dench turns up at Bond's apartment in the middle of the night (a la Live And Let Die) in nothing but a chef's hat and a cooking apron and says "Bangers and mash, or do you prefer your sausage raw?" I somehow doubt that Bond will reply "M, a feast for my eyes!"

You know what? I wasn't being 100% serious when I posted that, but now I've ruminated on it a little bit more I think it could really fly on screen.

It would be an interesting twist to the formula and would work well with this idea of Craig being a new Bond establishing his persona.

Also, EON would have their pick of actresses. Every Hollywodd actress over 40 would want the role of the older woman who seduces James Bond.

Rene Russo springs to mind. Posted Image

So does Emmanuelle Beart. Posted Image

Uma Thurman would be absolutely perfect for such a role in 3-5 years or so.

Look forward to the fanfic hcmv007.

Bond's parents died when he was very young, if you were going to psychoanalyse him you'd suggest that his serial monogamy is the embodiment of his constant search for the female affection he missed out on as a child.

This is truly an excellent posit, SCRAMBLED EGGS, and it really deserves much more of a considered response than that flip one which I gave it earlier (but you know me -- Dalton's Naughty Wendy can never resist an opening! )

Yes; I concur with your theory. It is further possible that Bond resents the fact that he missed many formative years of maternal affection; he may even subconsciously resent his mother for having deserted him -- although the desertion was hardly of her own volition. And, because of this latent resentment, Bond often finds it necessary to lash out at as many females as he can, by seducing and thus, conquering them.

So, mightn't Bond be partial to a mothering type? A woman who could comfort the poor lost boy inside him?

Again, yes: I believe he would respond quite favourably to this sort of attention. After all, he has been on his own, for so many years now, he might well find that he enjoys the kind of pampering which an experienced beauty would lavish on him.

A glamourous, sophisticated, experienced yet caring older woman might be the ideal Bond girl for the 21st century?

I understood your intent with regard to the characteristic of the ideal female for Bond being naive, hcmv007. I believe you were thinking along the lines of the woman's being credulous and trusting, not naive in the sense of being inexperienced and grren.

As to her loneliness, she is solitary by choice, yes? That is a quality which is often very attractive to a man, particularly to an intelligent one, such as is Bond. It can be very irritating to be attached to someone who constantly requires the company of other people (and insists on dragging her guy to a black-tie gala after he's hard a tough day at MI6!)

I know exactly what you are talking about Alessandra and my girlfriends and I always say we are going to 'The Knicker Shop' when we are going for coffee.

It has occurred to me that Italians like to have a little joke ... There is a very nice restaurant that I have gone to for years that I have always thought was quite smart. It is called Signor Baffi. Well, I thought it was smart until my Italian friend pointed out to me it was actually called 'Mr Moustache'. Needless to say, it was never quite the same after that.

View Post

:D ROTFL :D
Wonderful story Lady Rose!!
I always laugh when I'm in the U.S. or abroad when I see the names of Italian restaurants or anything which supposedly should be Italian because it ends with a vowel and the name "looks" Italian. (Same applies to English names over here in Italy of course, I just laugh at how ridiculous they are over here, they think if they use anything vaguely English sounding people will just go!)
I can guarantee you that nobody would ever even DREAM to call a restaurant "signor Baffi" here! lol. :D It just sounds weird and inappropriate for a restaurant. They could just call it "Baffi" if that was the last name. not a very common one, though. and it INDEED means moustache, so people wouldn't really be very encouraged to go there! lol :(
Tbere again, I went to a restaurant in Barcelona which was absolutely fantastic and uber chic... and the name was "Taxidermista", which means the taxidermist, or "embalmer".. EEWW!! lol [censored] and still, it was fantastic! [censored]
but it's called like that because there used to be a very famous, ancient shop of people who embalmed animals there.. and Salvador Dali was a huge client of the shop, took a picture of himself in the Placa Reial over a stuffed rhinoceros from the shop [censored]
So.. maybe the moustache of Signor Baffi have a special story??? [censored] (afraid not, but hey, just trying'!!) [censored]
