P. S. James was right to trust me with the keys to the Aston -- I'm an excellent driver!
lol NOW!
I have no Aston Martin, but being an Italian I LOVE driving.. and I do it with my Alfa Romeo 147.
Which is a "younger looking" car than the Aston Martin, since I'm supposed to carry Bond Jr. in it!
On another note.. very nice story Sean.. but tsk tsk! a Bondian lady never takes her shoes off to drive... she always has a DIFFERENT pair of shoes stored in a secret place in the car to drive... A pair of lovely, Audrey Hepburn like, flat shoes. Possibly by Tod's.

Well actually, I do find in certain moments that the way a girl takes off her shoes and the kind of shoes she wears are fundamental to make the moment... *cough cough* warmer.

However, this being James' car, and our having met only moments earlier, my driving pair was not handy . . .

I'd claim to be, but I'm merely a cat. Either I sit on the accelerator (and don't see out the windscreen) or I sit in the driver's seat and can't reach the pedals. Perhaps I need stilts.

Ale, I even changed my avatar for you as I had the one you are using now!
This thread is quite fascinating! Everything from the stories to the views on what is sexy in a man and Bond....and tips on how not to ruin your heels while driving!!
I have learned to master driving in bare feet for this reason!
Anyway, Wendy I have to compliment you, you kept this thread going with all the oppostion and doubts you had from the first day! You just kept plugging away able to laugh at yourself in the process and proving your critics wrong! It is very nice in the male dominated world of James Bond, to have a feminine thread rich in estrogen to come to to! You have a lot of great male perspectives as well. So keep up the good work!
My male friends find it fascinating that I am such a Bond fan....and I think that women enjoy Bond just as much as men because of the very thing they are trying to change. The character, the glamour, the women, the escapism, the witticisms..it is what has made Bond last for 40 years. I'm just sad they feel the need to tweak the whole formula that made me a fan in the first place.
Having said that..carry on....I too anticipate the next chapter of your story...

Delighted to have you join us, Monique. I have seen your name several times when you were reading this thread, and I was hoping we would soon have the pleasure of your presence!Well..as promised to my new friend Alessandra, I thought I would stop in and give my props to this thread. (Seeing as I haven't been banned at this forum yet!
)
That's true! I like to think of "BABES ON BOND" as a sort of hybrid of Martha Stewart, Oprah, Letterman, and Conan. (I'm Letterman!)Ale, I even changed my avatar for you as I had the one you are using now!

See, dear readers? Just another example of the catholic (as in worldwide, universal) education one receives at this spot!I have learned to master driving in bare feet for this reason!
Well, you know, it wasn't easy (quote of Peter Sellers' final line in The Pink Panther) -- especially in the wee small hours of 1 to almost 4 a.m.!Anyway, Wendy I have to compliment you, you kept this thread going with all the oppostion and doubts you had from the first day! You just kept plugging away able to laugh at yourself in the process and proving your critics wrong!
You know, it is often said that the female mind operates in a manner entirely differently from that of the male; this is the primary reason I believed that a thread such as this could only enhance -- could only gild the lily that is CBn.It is very nice in the male dominated world of James Bond, to have a feminine thread rich in estrogen to come to to!
We shall try! But we can only succeed with the help of you, and all our other loyal supporters, contributors, and readers (not to mention the ARTWORK of the wild and crazy and irrepressible WELSHCAT!)You have a lot of great male perspectives as well. So keep up the good work!
Me, too! Come on HITCH and SeanValen007! Don't leave poor DALTON'S WENDY panting in the lurch! My male friends find it fascinating that I am such a Bond fan....and I think that women enjoy Bond just as much as men because of the very thing they are trying to change. On another Bond forum of which I am a contributing member, the discussion arose on the subject of James Bond's being a sexist and a misogynist.
The first thing I wish to say is that 007 is NOT a misogynist.
Translating directly from the Graeco-Roman, (mis = bad, against, negation; gyn = woman), a misogynist is an individual who hates women.
BUT -- 007 loves women! He can't get enough of the darlings! (And the one whom I met could not have been more charming!)
Bond may be a bit of a chauvinist, but always bear in mind that whatever takes place between consenting adults is okay!
I now come to the purpose of this post, and that is, to comment upon a criticism which I often hear: Bond regards women as sexual objects -- as if this were a heinous and unnatural act! Loyal readers of this thread may recall my comment, which was along the lines of "I have never objected to being a sexual object for a night or two."
To this incendiary comment, I wish to add the following: let's do a little gender-reversal. What about women who regard men as sexual objects?
Ladies: can you, in all honesty, tell me that you have never regarded a man with longing in your mind? And, let's face it: it is more than a longing to have him read poetry to you (although that act may well be part of the evening's activities).
Nevertheless, let's take, as an example, the character of Samantha on Sex and The City. Out of the four stars, it was pretty obvious to me that the one having the best time, and the least problems, was Samantha!
Okay, sports fans! The can of worms has now been opened . . .

I've come to look upon the women in Bond movies as more of powerful role models than anything. Growing up with those movies, they've made me more aware of what women could become - airline pilots (Pussy Galore), head henchmen (chuckle) (Fiona Volpe, May Day, Xenia Onatopp), beautiful and interesting (Solitaire, Paula Caplin, Teresa di Vicenzo), athletic and deadly (Jinx, Miranda Frost, Wai Lin), and be the head honcho herself (Octopussy, Elektra King). I don't see them merely as sex objects, but as equal partners in a sex and danger dance with 007. Yes, James enjoys these women as much as they enjoy him. To me, it is not sexist unless it's a one way street.REOPENING AN EARLIER DISCUSSION:

I think the misconception that some women have is that if you're beautiful you're automatically unable to think and act for yourself as a woman. The James Bond movies have proven to me that Beauty + Brains + Athleticism is "doable" and quite the hot commodity. Yet that is not true for most women and thus sparks the resentment and jealousy associated with Bond films. I don't know any women in my life who actually like Bond films, except maybe my sisters.
As far as women regarding men as sexual objects, yes they certainly do. They're just not as obvious or obnoxious about it.

Hmm. That's odd that Sylvia Dench would've said that to Bond in Goldeneye. Maybe it was just scripted that way because the writer thought it would sound good at the time, regardless of whether Bond really had that attitude towards women.

I wanted to add more, I did think about adding you, but I was writing really late at night, and there were ideas I had about you and how to put you in, but perhaps the next story of mine may give you something very unique to do.
I knew the taking the shoes off bit would be a talking point.
If you do wonder what I writ and hit the cutting room floor, it was something like this:
BONDIAN ANGEL: DELETED SCENE: ALESSANDRA IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE ASTON.
As Alessandra took her shoes off, she also had a go driving the Aston, she liked to grip the pedals with her feet, the smooth interior felt silky as she brushed her feet against it, as she took her foot off the throttle pedal. Her toenails were painted gold, having known James had a fondness of the color ever since his experences with Mr Goldfinger many years ago. She flashed her gold painted toenails, the color making her feet even more elegant and luring to James then she thought possible. James took his shocks off in the haze of Alessandra's warm display of feet.
But James socks made Alessandra laugh out loud while driving the Aston, because James was wearing Mickey Mouse socks.
"I must of brought the wrong pair and even then, lord knows where my mind was when I was getting dressed this morning, " James blushed and fainted to rest on Alessandra's golden painted feet.

My dear Xenia: those are my sentiments exactly!I've come to look upon the women in Bond movies as more of powerful role models than anything. To me, it is not sexist unless it's a one way street.
I believe that you have expressed my thoughts in a way much more effective than did I! Perhaps in my zealousness, I was a bit crude -- but, fortunately, you have said it for me!
Yes -- exactly! The public tends to consign Pussy Galore to the trash heap of "loose" women, because of her somewhat questionable appellation (although, by simply reading Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind, one can easily see that the name Puss, or Pussy, was a common diminutive for fathers to apply to their daughters, largely because of the feline, "kittenish" qualities of small girls). Lost in the shuffle of all this is the fact that Miss G. was a licensed pilot -- at a time when very few women were!
Your list of capable women goes on and on, and all of their qualities, and qualifications, can be validated quite easily.
You, Xenia, have taken my crude words, seen their inner meaning, and encapsulated them to perfection!
IT IS BECAUSE these women are capable and strong -- just as is my silly Samantha of Sex and The City -- that they can permit themselves to be treated as sexual objects if they so choose!
I will herewith quote the words of Diane von Furstenberg, herself an eminently successful fashion designer, businesswoman, and (by her marriage to Prince Egon) a princess of The Holy Roman Empire:
"I've been all over the world, and everywhere I go, I have yet to meet one woman who wasn't strong. As a matter of fact, in my company, men either drive, or clean."
Et tu, Brute.
They're just jealous, Xenia, Baby!I think the misconception that some women have is that if you're beautiful you're automatically unable to think and act for yourself as a woman.
Yes -- yes -- YES!!!!The James Bond movies have proven to me that Beauty + Brains + Athleticism is "doable" and quite the hot commodity.
-- because they have neither three, nor two, nor even one! of those qualitiesYet that is not true for most women
and thus sparks the resentment and jealousy associated with Bond films.
And Dalton's Wendy. And Alessandra. And Kara Milovy. And Pam Bouvier. And the rest of THE BABES . . . but that's about it!!!!!I don't know any women in my life who actually like Bond films, except maybe my sisters.
Why shouldn't we? Some of them are adorable -- with great buns!As far as women regarding men as sexual objects, yes they certainly do.
Well . . . some of us aren't . . . while, some of us . . .They're just not as obvious or obnoxious about it
.
And THAT is for certain! In vino veritas! IT'S ALL GOOD!!!!!
(It's all good.
XENIA -- WELCOME TO THE BABES!!!!
