For those of you who don't like the choice of Craig, could you email me the footage of his Bond screentest?  I'm one of the people who didn't manage to see it, so I can't really say how good he would be, like you.

View Post

nobody is discussing his acting capabilities here. I did watch Layer Cake.
He just doesn't work because he isn't either good looking, or classy or elegant and suave. And those are things you cannot have with clothes and makeup. you're either classy or you're not. I've said this dozens of times. and more than myself, Valentino, Armani and the most stylish people in the world have all said the same about class.
now, James Bond oozes class and elegance. And Craig just doesn't have it, that's all. Zero class, zero elegance. Not to mention the fact he's not good looking. He may be a terrific actor but he just doesn't have the right features for Bond. Dyed hair, Brioni clothes or not.
You are of course more than entitled to adore him and to just not care about Bond's elegance and class. I am just explaining what most of us think. :)

I don't like Danny DeVito for James Bond but I 'm afraid I can't send you his screentest, either.

Danny DeVito wasn't approached or tested, for an obvious reason.

Give the man a fair go, eh? I'm sure you'd love being damned as unsuitable for a job before you'd given it a try.

I thought he was Scottish, but in any event - what value internet polls? Perhaps that should be the subject of a poll.

What you resist, shall persist.

Trite and New-Agey as all get-out. But true.

Try opening yourself up to the totality of the situation. i.e., that the world isn't going to end.

Realize that it's healthy to try a new flavor once in awhile (even one you're not sure that you'll like).

Otherwise, you'd never have got past grilled cheese sandwiches and bubble-gum ice cream.

Please leave the check for $85.00 in the basket on your way out. :)

It wasn't a internet poll, daily mail readers, newspapers.

The way Brosnan left is gonna have a backlash on the new actor, especially if its Craig, the world isn't ready for a new bond.

Oh, right.

Daily Mail readers. Hmm. I'm suggesing nothing, albeit that this is a newspaper that tends to run "Can being happy give you cancer?" and "Tolerance: a dangerous gimmick" sort of stuff.

I just can't believe it. After all the speculation, after all the wonderful possibilities, we are going to end up with a squinty, red-eyed, acne-scarred 37 year old villain.

Honestly, I've been a big Jackman proponent, but Owen would have been great, Northam would have been great, Butler might have done, Gruffyd might have done, there are probably a dozen good names that have been batted about.

I am sad about Pierce, very sad, but this choice would have had to be made for the next movie anyway, so let's just stick to the selection process.

Because Eon is cheap with points and salary, they let ideal candidates slip away and latch onto this creepy, creepy guy.

Damn.

Daniel Craig will NOT be my James Bond. I can only sit back and see what happens but I'll be crossing my fingers for a failure. If I'm wrong no big deal or skin off my back, not to mention hard feelings.

View Post

You're really hoping just because you have ill-feelings about an actor that the movie is a failure? You consider yourself a Bond fan and you want that? What if by his failure the series dies (and I don't agree that a failure would do this - speaking hypothetically here). You want that as a Bond fan?

This just seems silly and petty to me just so you can say "I told you so". That just blows my mind dude. Hell, when SilverFin and the idea of a Young Bond at the age of 13 was released I hated it and thought it was an instant failure, but I didn't wish it doom. In the end, it surprised me and I liked it.

View Post

Actually you do have a point., I was only kidding around when I started this and I really didn't want to truly offend anyone. True also I was upset by Craig being picked but I wanted this thread to befun and somewhat lighthearted at the same time.

Better?

I say B.F.D. and let the Daniel Craig [censored]kissers choke on the cake they're eating. I know alot of people will watch Royale due to the fact that it's a Bond film but I really don't know anymore. Craig being picked for a role he doesn't deserve to play weakens not only my faith in Bond but my faith in a higher power as well.

Daniel Craig will NOT be my James Bond.

...Well Sam, you are not alone. Not only do I happen to agree with you, but:

Casino Royale - 13-10-05
Majority of Londoners reject concept of Daniel Craig becoming 007

Folllowing the tabloid hysteria this week that British actor Daniel Craig is about to be announced as the sixth official James Bond actor, London newspaper the Evening Standard ran a poll to gauge public opinion.

An astonishing 71% of those who took part in the survey voted that Daniel Craig would NOT make a good James Bond.

29% of those polled will be hoping that press rumours are confirmed on Friday, when an official press conference is being held to unveil the next 007.

http://www.thisislon...34&display=true

http://www.mi6.co.uk...1index2893.php3

You hear that Sam? 71% on Bond's home turf say no. So if you want a fun thread, this ought to cheer you up. Whatever the spin may be here, Craig is not the people's choice...

Okay, I admit that it would be absurd to start triumphantly yelling "HE'S FLEMING'S BOND! HE'S THE NEW CONNERY! CASINO ROYALE WILL BE 100 TIMES BETTER THAN ALL THE OTHER FILMS PUT TOGETHER! HE'S THE BEST ACTOR IN THE WORLD!", and so on, but wouldn't it be just as daft to dismiss him out of hand?

I mean, a lot of intelligent people at Sony and Eon are prepared to put a lot of money behind this guy. They must think he has something going for him, surely? And maybe he has.

..Since when is Hollywood's judgment so peerless? The very demographic they have been trying to suck up to is passing on movies in droves. So what are doing instead? Hiring a late 30s actor -- and polarizing their base? Brilliant. The Evening Standard was polling the public at large, not so called fanboys, and over 70% say no. And Loomis -- the studio doesn't buy the tickets -- we do. And I for one wouldn't give them a dime for Craig. They are free to muck around, but I will not be led around by the nostrils by the people spinning in these threads.

whoa! I sense a little bit of disappointment with Craig here.
Well I've clearly stated what I think, and I won't go to the movies to see Craig either. So I'm with you on this.
but I still wonder why they'd choose him if there's zero hope.. can they be totally completely mad?? I hope not. :)
