ETA: I'll post the link to the apporpriate thread at my first opprotunity.

I know some are probably thinking it would be are just deserts for it to be a flawed mess but I don't think Nolan will do that to us. I think this will set the bar and stand over the summer towering the same way Begins was easily better than Sin City & ROTS.
I'm excited by Iron Man, Hulk and Hellboy 2 but DK is the main meal and hopefully QOS will be the desert to top it off now that Valkyrie has been put back to next year.

That person did a great job. Adds even more to an already striking design.

We don't know much about Aaron Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight, do we? Let's change that.
Forget Tommy Lee Jones's one-note butchering of the character in Batman Forever, Christopher Nolan is experimenting with a fascinatingly schizophrenic depiction of Two-Face that will blend sane and insane line readings from Eckhart. Basically, Nolan shot complementary takes of Eckhart in Two-Face makeup so he could visually represent the duality of Dent in a less cartoony fashion. What Nolan's doing doesn't sound all that far removed from the Gollum/Smeagol model, though the obvious difference here is that Dent isn't motion-capture; he's a fifty-fifty split of the same actor giving two wildly divergent performances in the same shot. And because he has two takes of each scene, Nolan has the luxury of shaping Eckhart's performance in post; it's just a matter of switching the dial between normal Harvey and bug-Two-Face. Again, both will be present in the shot, but only one will dominate the poor bastard's conflicted consciousness at any given moment. The technical audacity required in pulling this off may be the reason Two-Face was held back in the trailer.
This is just one of many creative decisions that's got folks over at the Warner Brothers lot giddy about July 18th. Given the... er, informed speculation I've heard regarding The Joker's more sinister actions in the film, I'll be shocked if this film doesn't encounter some trouble with the ratings board. Still, the dark tone doesn't surprise me nearly as much as Dent's prominent role in the narrative; it sounds like it's his vanity (pre-Two-Face) that brings The Joker's wrath down on Batman.
Everything I'm getting on Nolan's film is coming in piecemeal, but trust me on this: The Dark Knight is going to play rough. There may be more to come, but I may sit on it for fear of spoiling the film any further.

Or is there? I don't recall the Hulk of the TV series being Godzilla-sized. Wasn't he just a normal-sized guy albeit one with green skin, a Schwarzeneggeresque physique, superhuman strength and so on?
What I think I'll do is wait for DVD on this one and double bill it with Ang Lee's HULK, which I still haven't seen.

Looked a good, exciting action flick (with interesting locations) until the midway point at which the giant CGI Hulk comes in. I guess there's just no way to render that character in any way believable.

Lou Ferrigino was 6'5 and about 275 lbs(would slap Arnie around like a red headed step child) but the Hulk from the comics is more accurately protrayed in this film as the Hulk is roughly '9 tall. The Ang Lee Hulk has size changes which was kinda lame cuz he got to be around '15 and looked like King Kong(that film has some moments though and is worth a rental).
I think the new HULK trailer starts off strong and then turns into mediocrity as soon as that poorly rendered CGI Hulk appears. Doesn't seem to have any energy or drive to it, and Norton is clearly phoning the whole thing in. It all has a been-there, done-that quality after Lee's film.
THE DARK KNIGHT still reigns supreme.
I guess you're not gonna budge on TDK but I'm at least happy to know there could be more than 1 or 2 good movies this summer...like the good ol days of 81-89, we have a handful of potentially good popcorn flicks to enjoy.

For crying out loud, the Hulk from Hulk looked far better than this reject from a PlayStation cut scene!
Don't make Hulk angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Yeah. I like the basic design of this new Hulk better, but the CGI work is very disappointing. That close up of his face... where's the detail? If you're going to do an entirely CGI character like that, you need detail... like Gollum or King Kong or Davey Jones (all very well-rendered). It's not very convincing. For crying out loud, the Hulk from Hulk looked far better than this reject from a PlayStation cut scene!
I'm still in wait-and-see on that movie, but I think that new trailer is only a slight improvement on that very unimpressive first trailer. I need to be convinced that the film is really going to have a vibrancy to it.

Well, it still looks like the most intelligent and interesting of this summer's popular entertainment, which is why I haven't yet yielded the throne. It may very well be that THE DARK KNIGHT is a disaster, but judging by the advertising and the spoiler info, I think THE DARK KNIGHT's set to be the one that does the most for the superhero genre.I guess you're not gonna budge on TDK
For pure fun, though, I'm anticipating INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. I really can't wait for that.

I'm glad you say it's worth a rental. I'm reading a lot of dissing of Lee's HULK here on CBn (and, to be fair, elsewhere as well), but the more people rip into it the more I have the feeling that I'm really going to enjoy it (he writes slightly snootily).
As for this year's franchise fare, only Rambo and Bond have pushed my fanboy buttons. Indy and the Bat will merely be acceptable timekillers till QUANTUM OF SOLACE. And then? Well, perhaps our good friend Mr Gibson will favour us with LETHAL 5 and MAX 4 (probably not, though).

Personally I'm quite looking forward to Iron Man. Haven't been anticipating it all that much, but they've got Downey- can't be bad.

Indeed, it's not quite my sort of movie, but I'm certainly planning to check it out for that exact reason.Personally I'm quite looking forward to Iron Man. Haven't been anticipating it all that much, but they've got Downey- can't be bad.
Edit: Having said that, I see that he's also in THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

THE DARK KNIGHT is apparently doing something really fascinating with Two-Face... really unique use of performance and technology together:

Interesting news (and definitely not what I had thought about them doing). Seems like this is yet another way that will really differentiate the characters/appearance in Nolan's films compared to the originals.

On an off topic, I wish DC would make some films on their other characters to raise people's awareness of them. They aren't just the Batman and Superman guys, they have some pretty iconic characters in there. Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman for example. Marvel spit out quite a few of their characters in film, I just dont want DC to be left behind.

Dent's line about becoming the villain will become a classic line in time, it pretty much sums up his whole arc really. Heath is looking scary, charismatic and completely unhinged, everything that Nicholsons performance wasn't.
If this isn't the film of 08 I'll be very surprised, QOS looks amazing but DK I think will take the edge all though I'm happy to be proved wrong.

It really is amazing to me how much of this film is being kept under wraps. Those that pay attention to spoilers know the basic jist of the storyline but there's still so much more out there that we don't know about. Now compare that to BEGINS where we had the script a year before hand. It also seems to me that most of the scenes from the trailer seem to take part in one series of events...

Harmsway, that bit where Batman's standing on a skyscraper looking out over a cityscape in the blue light of dawn - is that Hong Kong? Have we seen any of the film's HK footage yet?
(And why does he go to Hong Kong of all places?)

Glad you liked it. I knew you weren't impressed by the last one.Great trailer.
I'm pretty sure that we do get HK footage, but it's not where you think it is. I think the Hong Kong footage is at the beginning of the trailer, with him standing on the building and then diving off.Harmsway, that bit where Batman's standing on a skyscraper looking out over a cityscape in the blue light of dawn - is that Hong Kong?
