Great trailer.

Glad you liked it. I knew you weren't impressed by the last one.

Ledger's Joker is also growing on me, and big time. I hated that "Good evening, Commissioner" bit in the first trailer - I just thought it sounded like a bad Hannibal Lecter impression. But it would appear that there's more to the character and performance. Much more.

And, yes, I know it's very predictable that Ledger will get the sort of Kurt Cobain-/Ian Curtis-/John Lennon-type treated as a genius in death thing, but, seriously, I am genuinely impressed by what I've seen of his work in THE DARK KNIGHT. Wouldn't be saying so otherwise.

My main gripe against BATMAN BEGINS is that I think it's sorely lacking in visual "wow" factor, which certainly doesn't seem true of TDK. With a bit of luck and a following wind, this could be one of the most visually impressive Hollywood franchise films ever.

Harmsway, that bit where Batman's standing on a skyscraper looking out over a cityscape in the blue light of dawn - is that Hong Kong? Have we seen any of the film's HK footage yet?

I'm pretty sure that we do get HK footage, but it's not where you think it is. I think the Hong Kong footage is at the beginning of the trailer, with him standing on the building and then diving off.

And at the end, I think. Notice the yellow lettering on the building in the background.

Regardless, great trailer. You can really see the visual influence of Heat in this one.

I wonder what the viral marketing will reveal at this point? The trailer, to me, was the thing everyone was waiting for. Is there anything left to hunt for? Behind the scenes stuff, I suppose?

Ah, yes, well spotted, DOZ. That'll be Hong Kong, then. Or maybe Gotham City's Chinatown.

Regardless, great trailer. Yiu can really see the visual influence of Heat in this one.

And also HEAT's epic scale and scope. I won't be surprised if Nolan (who seems fairly open about his influences) mentions Mann's masterpiece in his upcoming interviews.

I'd be surprised if he didn't. Given that he cited Blade Runner as an influence on Begins, I doubt he'd neglect to mention Mann's crime epic. Looking at those two, I can't wait to see where Nolan draws ideas from in the third. Scarface (given Dent's predicament)?

Best thing since sliced bread, this trailer was, mmmh-yehhsss.

My sensors say that this will be a very good bat-filmation. I like Heath's Joker more and more the more I see him in action. May he rest in peace.

Indeed. The more we see of his Joker, the greater we realise the loss.

Fantastic trailer, certainly much better than the last one, although I was surprised to see so much of the Joker in this one as I had thought that this would be almost entirely focused on Harvey Dent, but still a great trailer anyway.

Apparently a picture of Two-Face has leaked, I'm not sure of the authenticity of it but here it is...

If it's real, then Nolan is the Man!

I hope Eckhart can nail the part... or two.

I'd be very surprised if they actually put this depiction of Two-Face into the film. As serious as the film appears to be taking itself, that is a bit much even for a more serious Batman film. I recall reading somewhere today that it was supposedly just concept art that may or may not be the final depiction of Two-Face, and I can't imagine that they go ahead with this depiction of the character.

Well apparently Aaron Eckhart said that Two-Face is so gruesome that his action figure had to be changed to be more suitable to children and that the scarring was on a large scale. This would be in line with that.

We'll see. I personally have some doubts about the image but even if it is fake or concept art it will be quite close to what we end up getting.

I hadn't heard Eckhart say that, which means that the picture could end up being the actual depiction of the character, although I think (and hope) that it's toned down just a bit (not much, but just a bit) in the final cut of the film.

I hope they keep this look if it's legit. You can clearly see what drove this guy insane. I'd love to see this version of the character get a full tilt in the next film.

It is indeed. If this is the actual depiction of Two-Face, then THE DARK KNIGHT is shaping up to be a very, very dark film indeed, and even more so than I thought it would have been for much of the run up to its release in a couple of months. Couple this depiction of the character with Ledger's depiction of the Joker as being far more psychotic and unbalanced than we've ever seen the character in film or TV, then it could turn out to be too much to handle in terms of the overall tone of the film.

Basically, I'm torn on this depiction. Part of me thinks that, as I said above, that this characterization, along with the Joker and the unfortunate circumstances that surround the film, that all of that combined may be a bit too much to handle. On the other side, though, I do commend Nolan for pushing the envelope with both of the film's villains and not settling into the cliche characterizations that both characters have established in other Batman films.

I'm all for pushing the envelope. And, personally, I believe the look as demonstrated in that photograph is real (it even has the application of CGI, as was promised). It might just be a concept, but it's of the same level of gruesomeness I'd expect based off of Eckhart's comments.

Too much for kiddies? You bet. It might even be too dark for general audiences. But I applaud that bravery. We're finally getting a mainstream superhero flick that is marketed towards adults, not children.

Here's the character in THE LONG HALLOWEEN (the inspiration for Nolan's take on Batman, and the best telling of the Two-Face origin):

I hadn't heard Eckhart say that myself, but this picture definitely seems to fit the bill.

Too much for kiddies? You bet. It might even be too dark to the point where THE DARK KNIGHT turns people off. But I applaud that bravery. We're finally getting a mainstream superhero flick that is marketed towards adults, not children. That's impressive.

Slight shades of the very dark Batman Returns in a way.

Well, I'm not opposed to a very dark film like THE DARK KNIGHT is shaping up to be, I just hope that they're not going for this look just for the shock factor of having the character look like that. I don't think that we're going to be seeing Two-Face a lot in the film anyway, so it'll probably be OK if they leave the look like that concept art.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that, if there wasn't the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the film, then a lot of the darkness would be more easy to take, but given what's happened in the run up to this film, the darkness in the film is weighted more than it would otherwise be.

But, I will say, though, that THE DARK KNIGHT is my most anticipated film of the year. I think that the stellar cast that the film has as well as the depiction of two of the more iconic villains in the Batman franchise will carry this film a long way and make THE DARK KNIGHT one of the better films of the summer, if not the whole year.
