hmm..
Tarl..good suggestion! LOL Now that Shanahan is gone, who never got along with Jake, perhaps McDaniels should try and get his phone and try to persuade him to come out of retirement...oh wait..I forgot.. The Buccaneers still own his rights!
tdalton... Yeah sorry to see your Jets floundering.. i was pulling for them but I think your earlier fears and reservations you had about the team might be proven justified..
I think that Chris Simms will get things turned around, although it might not be this coming week. I thought that he was very good in Tampa and was unjustifiably benched in favor of Brian Griese. While it most likely won't happen this week for Simms, I would be shocked if he wasn't playing well within another week or so.
Yes, it does seem as though my reservations about the Jets were justified, sadly. What can I expect, though. They are the
Jets, quite possibly the sorriest sports franchise in America (at least Cleveland, Oakland, etc. have storied pasts that they can be proud of, not so much in New York).
At least we've got next week's epic loss to New England to look forward to. Not only are they mad that the Jets have beaten them the last two times they've met (believe me, nobody's more shocked by that stat than I am), they're also assuredly going to be angry about Rex Ryan's postgame declarations that the Jets should be respected (and the other comments), as well as they're awful loss last night to Indy. This game may set the record for the biggest margin of victory in NFL history.
Well, I suppose it's my own fault, really. I never should have gotten my hopes up so early in the season. This is the franchise that, after all, managed to turn spectacular starts to seasons (6-1 in 2000 and 8-3 last year) into 9-7, non-playoff seasons. And then, when they do make the playoffs, they don't do what it takes to win. In Herm Edwards' last trip to the playoffs with the Jets, had he benched Curtis Martin and kept LaMont Jordan (who was just running over the Steelers' defense like they were standing still) in the game, the Jets would have played in the AFC title game that year. Instead, we've got to stick with the running back who couldn't get anything going in order to protect a legacy, and it ultimately led to the defeat (I can't stand it when the majority of Jets fans blame kicker Doug Brien , who missed two field goals from lengths that nobody else had ever converted at Heinz Field, for the loss).
