Really hoping the Steelers trump the Browns next week. Very, very glad they beat the Lions tonight, but I'd like to see that 3-2 become a 4-2 and hopefully a 5-2 after the 25th. Really hoping they win on the 25th of all things. Just, please, no more losses until the bye week. Thus far it's looking like I'll be rooting for my back-up come February. We'll see if they turn to 5-0 on the 18th or 4-1.

Steelers are now 4-2. Here's to hoping next week they are 5-2. No more losses for a while, please. And although it is the other kind of football, the same sentiment must be expressed to Liverpool. That loss to Sunderland yesterday was...a beach ball of all things!? I'm going to be fuming over that for a long while, I suspect.

As a United fan, I was laughing all day yesterday about the beach ball!
I went to see Snow Patrol last night in SD and Gary mentioned it (he's a Utd fan also!)

but back to American Football....
My teams the Raiders, but given we've already given up the ghost...then it's Colts all the way!

I can't believe they counted that ball! At the very least they should have removed the beach ball from the pitch and done the shot over. Probably would have gone in anyway, but at least I'd be more accepting of the loss.

Edit:

I don't deny Liverpool played like B), but damn. That ball.

Well; there is a precedent; a few years ago in a cup game, Sheff Utd acored against Man City in a goal mouth scramble that involved a few balloons; one of teh city players attempted a clearance but succeeded in only kicking away a balloon;
the irony, in both instances it was the teams that suffered fans (city/pool) who threw the balloons/beach ball on the pitch...

Oh boy, don't remind me of that. I could understand if the kid just lost the ball, but if you watch the tape, he very clearly beats it down onto the pitch. It's much nicer to pretend it was one of those Sunderland fans throwing the ball.

How about those Jets. One of the worst performances I've seen in years. Just when you would have thought the Jets had turned the corner and finally become a legitimate contender, they lose to the Dolphins and the Bills in back-to-back weeks. Truly pathetic. Time to start looking at who our top-5 pick is going to be (hopefully someone to replace Sanchez, who was beyond awful today). It's also about time for the Jets to start the search for a new head coach, because Rex Ryan is not head coach material. Two consecutive weeks with the team not prepared is unacceptable and a fire-able offense.

Yeah, that kid is probably in hiding now!!!
Look's like it's United's title again!!!
Next week's game will be a hell of a battle;
a loss vs United and that could be it for the spanish waiter...

If Nando and Stevie are back next week, there's going to be trouble for Man U. I doubt they will be though. It shames me to say it, but Liverpool really is a two man team this year. Honestly if Rafa doesn't shape up I hope they sack him and bring Dalglish back.

And on the American front,
My sister will be very happy. According to the webs, Patriots sacked the Titans 59-nil.

You want to get rid of Sanchez already??? Sheesh...he's a rookie! They are supposed to be bad the first year(or two). I'd bet the Chiefs, Raiders,Vikings/Cards(for the future),Panthers, Jaguars,Bucs,Titans,Rams,Seahawks,49ers,Bills,and maybe even Denver would hand the Jets at least a # 1 pick for him right now if they had the chance.

I think they were hoping he'd have the same success as Matt Ryan & Joe Flacco had last year as rookies.

But how about those Patriots? Were they playing the Titans or a high school team?

And thus there were 4...

Colts
Broncos
Saints
Vikings

And if they were offered such a trade, they should take it in a heartbeat. The mistakes that he's making are not just rookie mistakes, they're just mistakes that are made by someone who doesn't truly have a grasp of the game of football. When a team has a great defense like the Jets but has it sabotaged each week by a terrible offense, there needs to be some changes. At the very least, Sanchez should take a seat and watch Kellen Clemens play for a few weeks while the Jets try to salvage the season. Sanchez has proven that he can play against good defenses (he beat Bill Belichik, after all), but there's clearly something wrong when the likes of the Buffalo Bills give him problems.

Sanchez may have fooled me into thinking that he would be a good QB after his win over New England, but I was against his being drafted from the beginning, and even moreso against him being just handed the starting job in one of the most unfair quarterback competitions in the history of the NFL. Veteran leadership is what this team needs (Jeff Garcia), and instead of capitalizing on a defense and offense (short of the QB) that is ready to win right now, we're going to wait until they're all too old so that we can develop the QB of the future. That's just the same type of brilliant planning that has made the Jets the most pathetic franchise in sports over the past forty years.

I lay most of the blame on the shoulders of Rex Ryan and Brian Schottenheimer (who actually should be fired for his performance today), as they pumped Sanchez's ego up way too much, and now they're paying for it due to Sanchez's overconfidence and lack of preparation. And, no, there is no way that someone can tell me that the way the Jets have performed the past couple of weeks is the performance of a team that is fully prepared for the game by its coaching staff.

To call the Titans a high school team is an insult to a high school team.

He's not even the best quarterback on the roster, let alone being compared to Jets "greats" (and I use that term loosely, as there have been very few truly great Jets players, and virtually no great quarterbacks unless we're to include Favre in the list) like Ken O'Brien. The best that Sanchez can hope for is to finish fifth in the running of Jets QBs (O'Brien, Namath, Testaverde, Favre, and Pennington being in front of him). He lacks the skill-set (he constantly stares down the receiver he's throwing the ball to) and he makes some awful decisions on fairly routine plays. The fact of the matter is that the Jets should have signed either Jeff Garcia or Kurt Warner in the offseason and had that veteran leadership to take this very veteran team to the Super Bowl now, because short of the QB position, the Jets are a team that are built to win now, but instead we're going to take what basically amounts to the best Jets team ever assembled (on paper, anyway) and squander it so that they can develop the "QB of the future". And people wonder why the Jets are the second-worst franchise in U.S. professional sports (the Redskins being a few miles "ahead" of them in that race).

Nice to meet a fellow Broncos fan Eric! :tdown: WOW!! 6-0 now after trouncing the Chargers (sorry Tarl!).. Orton is doing great..as for the neck beard, at least he's not going the Jake Plummer route and turing into Grizzly Adams!! LOL.. I'm very happy with is play so far..he plays smart and doesn't try to force stupid throws like Jay Culter continues to do for the Chicago Bears and rack up the INT's..

Well now see that's where you're mistaken. The Steelers are going to claim victory over the Broncos, no doubt also in such sweeping numbers.
