Okay..so now that whining little punk Cutler has changed his story and now claims *puts on a whiny voice* " I didn't want it to go this far...I love being in Denver!! I didn't want to be traded.." Oh phuleeeze!! The sooner we get this moron out of here the better!!!

I agree with you on this. I'm tired of hearing about this story, and I'm tired of the antics by both sides here. For a while, I really wanted the Jets to pursue this trade, but now that Denver is asking for 2 first round picks in exchange for him, as well as the attitude that has been on display in the last couple of weeks, I hope the Jets get smart about this situation and steer clear of the whole thing and just go with Kellen Clemens or Brett Ratliff at QB and spend our first rounder on Maclin or Harvin, if either of them fall to #17.

Mike Vick may be available ...seriously, sorry to hear about this bad news Dove. I wouldn't wish loosing your franchise QB (!) on you despite our friendly AFC west rivalry.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Tarl..This will certainly make our friendly little Denver vs San Diego matchups a whole lot more interesting!

Well after consideration, this may not be as bad a trade for Denver as I thought.. Sure Kyle Orton is no Jay Cutler, arm-wise, but he isn't a crybaby either!! (I'm just glad it was NOT Rex Grossman we ended up with!) And it now turns out Da Bears sent an additional third round pick to the Broncos along with the two first rounders... I'm encouraged and hope that Denver does something smart with the picks on draft day... We need some defense and of course we could always trade up to get Mark Sanchez... but we'll see...

Kyle Orton is definately not a whinner. He won 15 starts as a rookie and was demoted without a chance to compete the next year for...Brian Griese!?? I always thought he got jobbed by the Bears but he didn't complain. He's got a strong arm and is 6'4...he's just as good as Matt Cassel, the guy started this whole thing, in terms of talent...etc.He was hurt his senior year so he could have been a higher draft pick...
I've always liked Orton. He's not a scary guy but on a good team he can win.

Yes Cutler is a Bear, now can he handle having nobody to throw to? Will the Bears fans strip him of his manhood? Will his 'Dude' privileges be revoked? We'll find out this season!
Mock Draft will be done the Sunday before the Draft!

After some 30 plus years as a broadcaster for FOX, NBC and ABC, John Madden is calling it a career.. Oh man I'll miss him in the booth on Sunday nights with Al Michaels.. Those two made a great team.. It looks like Cris Collinsworth will be stepping in to call games with Al Michaels now.. He's good, but no John Madden!

Well it looks very much like the Detroit Lions are indeed working on a deal to make QB Matthew Stafford the #1 pick in this year's draft.. I hope for their sake he works out better than Joey Harrington did!

I think the Lions should draft that offensive tackle, great teams always have one. Stafford does not have the intangibles compared to Matt Ryan in last year's draft, but hey it doesn't matter, it's the Lions.

That's odd. Why trade him now for a 2010 pick? Why not give Matt cassel someone to throw to until he gets comfortable as the # 1 QB? Weird.
Yeah, that trade makes no sense at all. Glad it's not my team.

Well, I'm just glad he hasn't been traded to the Steelers. Mind it would probably do well to send him to the Eagles. Lord knows the only reason I turned out a Steelers fan as a little kid is because the home team is atrocious. Ah, but I'm not going off on an Eagles bashing tangent now.

WOW!! This Tony Gonzales trade to Atlanta is gonna make things tough for Kansas City (rubbing hands in evil glee!! ) and with Larry Johnson still gripping about wanting out of KC, its gonna be a rough year for Kansas City..
Cutler, Gonzalez...all I need is for the Raiders to trade their top player...oh wait, they don't have any decent players!

But overall, McDaniels and Company did NOT sufficiently address our most pressing needs.. at the moment, I'm predicting at best Denver will be 7-9 next season (subject to change once I see the team in action in preseason..)
So how did everyone else feel about their team's draft choices?

So how did everyone else feel about their team's draft choices?
Despite all the rave reviews from the ESPN analysts and other TV networks, I thought that the Jets had one of their worst drafts ever. I don't see Sanchez being the answer at QB, and even if he turns out to be even halfway decent at the position, he has absolutely nobody to throw the ball to. Given the current group of receivers the Jets have, I'm not sure that even Joe Montana could find success with the team. They're so thin there that the TE they drafted last year (Dustin Keller) might actually have to move out to WR because there's no depth. Our current #1 receiver is Jerricho Cotchery, who is a player that is a solid #2 receiver, but he's not the playmaker that is needed in the #1 spot.
Anyway, back to the draft choices. What the Jets should have done was stay at their original #17 pick and select Jeremy Maclin (who was still on the board at 17), which would have done wonders for what is, honestly, the biggest weakness on the team right now. If they felt a desperate need at QB, maybe a trade with the Browns for either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson could have worked. Going down that route, both of the glaring issues on the team would have been fixed without giving up the entire draft to make it happen. I'm not sure, though, that a change at QB was necessary, though. Brett Ratliff showed some great promise in the preseason last year (I know it was just the preseason, but he was good enough, IMO, to have been given a fair chance to compete for the job, something he won't get in Cleveland because he's sitting behind Anderson and Quinn). Kellen Clemens also deserves a chance at the job as he's been in the current offensive system for 3 years now, and he should have it mastered to the point where he can go out and be an effective QB. The purpose of the last few seasons has been to get Clemens ready to play and be effective, and now that plan is being thrown out the window in favor of starting it all over again with Sanchez. The Jets are built to win now at every position except for quite possibly the two most important ones on the field: QB and WR. I guess this is why the organization hasn't been successful in well over 40 years.
For the record, I have absolutely nothing against Mark Sanchez. He's a good football player, and he seems like a very good person from what I've seen from him in interviews. My problem is that I don't think the Jets needed to draft a QB in the first round (or at all, for that matter), and I really don't like the fact that they gave up two very solid defensive players (Coleman and Elam), a potential starter at QB (Ratliff), and a second round pick in order to make the trade to get in position to draft him.

He's baaaaaaaaaack. LOL I know people are tired of Farve but I can't help enjoy the thought of him playing against the Packers as a Viking...and I'm a fellow 39er who'd enjoy watching him play again; The Vikes are a much better team for him than the Jets so bring it on Farve!

ESPN has been covering soccer more in the past couple of years and the awful ESPN Desportes updates have caused me to skip Sportscenter. Unfortunately there is no other sports network as Fox Sports is laughable.
