I can't beleive Miami passed on Quinn . . . being a Dolphin fan hasn't been fun since Marino left

Wow!! The Mighty Quinn not picked till # 22??!!

The back-room dealings have more action going on than a Bond film casting meeting.

Am I the only one that thinks it is strange that Washington chose with their first 2 picks guys named Landry and Dallas?

Interesting draft this year..

My 2 cents of thoughts:

Biggest Losers: Philiadelpia Eagles: WTF?? picking a QB in Kevin Klob with your first pick? Clearly this is sending some sort of message to Donovan McNabb!!

Miami Dolphins: Passing on Brady Quinn and letting the poor kid sweat it out until #22 when the Browns very wisely traded back into the first round to take him. Miami, why pick Ted Ginn jr first??!! Sure he was a fine reciever at Ohio State but he is still recovering from a serious leg injury. I love the video of Cam Cameron trying to explain his pick to the Dolphins faithfull and them booing him!! Not a smart pick, Cam, but at least you guys smartened up with your second pick in BYU quarterback John Beck.

Biggest Winners: Oakland Raiders.. Gotta admit they actually did pretty well with their draft selections, plus getting rid of Randy Moss (sent to New England, where I think he'll actually do pretty well!)

Well my Broncos pick all defensive players this year, which was a serious need for us.. I'm really excited about Jarvous Moss and Tim Crowder!! While Marcus Thomas has had several red flags against him, I think he's serious about his committment to the Broncos and can be a terrific addition for us.. Also really like OT Ryan Harris, we need another offensive lineman incase Matt Lepsis or anyone else goes down to injury this year!!

As I Dol-fan, I cannot agree more. However, this pick is not about Ginn. No matter how he turns out, the fortune of the Phins will NOT change until they get that QB they have so desperately needed since Marino left 7 seasons ago. So, what Cam is telling us is that Beck is better than Quinn. I have my doubts, but all I can do is hope.

I disagree TD. I like the Raiders' draft becusae they will still be awful  . I think JR will tank as a rookie(craptastic OL and no Moss? ) as will the new coach(too young, unqualified puppet). Let's face it, our Broncos/Chargers have a quasi bye week when they play the Jokeland Raiders. :cooltongue:

As its nearly time for training camps to begin, I though we should resurrect this thread. This time last year, it was all about the T.O. media circus at Cowboys camp. Now this year, as I'm sure you all know by now its all about Michael Vick, the dogfighting scandal and Falcons camp. Personsally, I'm glad Goodell has banned Vick from attending Atlanta's training camp. Whether he is guilty or not of these horrific crimes of brutally murdering the losing dogs, and I think he is, by keeping Vick away from Falcons camp, it may lessen the whole media circus atmosphere, though PETA members are still picketting and protesting outside the complex from what I understand. It looks like Joey Harrington will be the starting QB for the Falcons come opening day, and I do think that Vick will be gone from the team, once the whole trial gets settled. I don't know.. anyone else have thoughts on Vick and the whole dogfighting scandal?

I liked watching Vick play and the news came as more of a disappointment than a shock. We can only hope that this media circus surrounding Vick will open awareness to anyone who may not have seen warning signs for these illegal acts.

On a lighter note, I'd be happy if Harrington got another shot to be the man in Atlanta.

By the way, is it too early to be assembling the CBn Fantasy Football League like we did last year? Any takers? :cooltongue:

Bill Walsh died from leukemia today at age 75. He was, in my opinion, the greatest football coach of all time.

Yes, a very sad story indeed. I hope it wasn't lost in all of the MLB Trade Deadline banter that went on yesterday. Walsh meant a ton to the game and his 49ers were, at the very least, the team of the 1980s...hands down. The West Coast offense he popularized is still being used today with great success! He will be missed!

My 2007 Predictions:

Chargers over Saints

I aint giving up on my Bolts! :cooltongue: SD canned Marty Chokenhiemer and now they can move forward in the playoffs without his incompetence and jawdroppingly bad luck. The Saints have an awesome team on O but their Defense isn't gonna be enough to stop SD's point machine. A second year as a starter will give Philip Rivers the confidence to close the deal along with a new rookie WR to compliment an already steller cast on both sides of the ball. Rivers vs Brees...gonna be high noon in AZ!

Division Champs:

AFC
west:SD*
North: Bengals
East: Pats
south: Colts

NFC
west: Cardinals
North:Bears
East:Dallas
South: Sants*

*Home field advantage

League MVP: Drew Brees

Worst team:

Atlanta Falcons

Runner up:
Oakland Raiders

# 1 pick in 2008:

Brian Brohm, QB Louisville

Interesting picks Tarl.. Well at this point I think I can put down my winners for each Division.. Its still a bit too early for me to tell whos going to make it to the Super Bowl. But anyway, here's what I predict for the division champs:

AFC:

West: Broncos
East: Patriots
South: Colts
North: Ravens

NFC:
West: Seahawks
East: Redskins
South: Saints
North: Packers (okay, this might be a reach, but I wanted to throw in a surprise curve ball in my pick!!)

Bengals vs Eagles? I'll give you points for originality.I think it has to be SD, the Pats, the Colts again(not really) or The Saints...but...I love the Saints in the NFC-they are gonna be miles ahead of every other NFC team nmho. Their Offense will be even better with a improving Regge Bush and Robert Meachem, Drew Brees even more comfortable in the system...I thought you were a Saints guy????

Well I think your Chargers will do okay Tarl, but its VERY risky losing a head coach AND your two coordinators in Wade Phillips and Cam Cameron all at once.. Do you think the team chemistry will be the same this year? Norv Turner's track record as head coach is so - so I guess. I can see a slight regression in the Chargers this year.. though I do think they'll make the playoffs, but Super Bowl, hmm I don't know..

Well after a tragic offseason for my Broncos, following the murder of Darrent Williams and the tragic death of Damian Nash, its time to focus on the football.. I think that Travis Henry, Brandon Stokley and Sam Adams are great additions for our team.. It was sad to see us cut ties with linebacker Al Wilson. Jay Cutler will come into his own this season, no more distractions with that idiot Jake Plummer!! (yes Tarl, I've disregarded him.. I now think Brian Griese was better for us!)

Those coaches you mentioned have won exactly zero Superbowls. Norv Turner has won 2 with the Cowboys as OC and he was coaching two crummy teams and suffered a #1 QB bust in Heath Shuler. I think the Skins were coming around but the owner decided Marty Shottemhiemer and Steve Spurrior were gonna be better. Remeber what happend to Brad Johnson when he got outta there? He won a ring.

We also aquired Ron Riviera to coach the LBs-the guy who really led the Bears to the SB with his D. So, I dodn't miss any of the coaches. SD is better for it. Now, in a rebuilding situation, I wouldn't be thrilled about Norv Turner. But he hasn't got that black cloud of playoff failure like MS. Remember, Bill Billichick was once canned by the Browns...I think Turner will keep the fort safe enough for the team to win. They have alot of motivated guys who really don't need to be micro managed.

Good points Tarl.. At least this time Norv has Phillip Rivers and LT..compared with his last coaching spot? Oakland!! Where he had a disgruntled Randy Moss, and uh...and uhh...and uhh...LOL!! And I guess we'll see how well Cam Cameron does with Miami (his first blunder was picking Ted Ginn Jr. too early when they could have gotten Brady Quinn).. As for Wade Philips as coach of the Cowboys, well he did reasonably well when he was head coach of the Buffalo Bills but I do remember back in 93-94 when he coached Denver after Dan Reeves got fired.. Those were not our greatest seasons when Phillips was in charge.. I'll be interested to see how he handels Dallas.

I usually pick the Bengals for the Super Bowl since my usual excuse for being a homer is "If I don't pick them, then who will??" Thanks to hcmv007, that is already taken care of. :cooltongue:

Well the pre-season is in full swing and all 32 teams have now played their first game. I saw my Broncos take on the 49'ers the other day and beat them 17 to 13.. While it's hard to judge the team on just the first preseason game where the starters played very little, I was VERY impressed with Jay Cutler and Travis Henry.. Cutler dropped a long bomb to Javon Walker and scrambled out for a big rushing gain. Henry showed his speed and ability to break through into the backfield, so I am encouraged for the season.. Our defense still has some weaknesses which need to be fixed before the regular season begins, but other than that, I like what I see. :cooltongue:
