Colts over Chiefs: Payton's arm, and his career, are on the line.
Seattle over Dallas: Both at 9-7, they're playing in Seattle.
Pats over Jets: Tom Brady.
Philly over Giants: The Eagles are firing on all 8.

I should have gone to Ladbrokes. :cooltongue:

Well, the Seattle/Dallas and Philly/Giants games were certainly exciting, and could have gone either way.

Wow great predictions!! Now what do you think about this weekend's games?
I think:
Baltimore over Indianapolis
New England over San Diego (The Chargers can win this game if they rush Tom Brady but the Patriots offensive line is too good).
Chicago over Seattle (Even if Grossman don't play well).
Saints vs Eagles: I don't have an idea who can win but the winner of this game is going to beat the Bears.

Okay.. I predict Kansas City to beat the Colts, the Seattle Seahawks to beat Dallas, the Eagles to beat the Giants and the NE Patriots to beat the Jets (though I'm being cautious about that one!!)

As a Jet fan, I havn't say a thing all season. But, I hope you are wrong. :cooltongue:

I guess you were right. Oh well, now I can wait for pitchers and catchers. (go Yanks)

I'll make another try at predicting this weekend's games. I was 2-2 last week (got the NFC games right and the AFC one's wrong), so I'm not off to a great start.

Baltimore Ravens over Indianapolis Colts: I think that the Ravens defense will be a bit too much for Peyton Manning and the Colts to overcome.

New Orleans Saints over Philadelphia Eagles: The homefield advantage will be very significant for the Saints as I think that they will prove to have too much offense for Jeff Garcia and the Eagles to keep pace with.

Chicago Bears over Seattle Seahawks: I think that the Bears will regain their swagger here against a Seahawks team that should have lost to Dallas last week.

New England Patriots over San Diego Chargers: Bill Belichik's defense will be set up to stop LT and the running game, and will force Philip Rivers to beat them, and I don't really see that happening.

Two former Chargers, Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison, who now play for New England are OUT for the game on Sunday.. Must be bitter sweet for them, eh Tarl? I'm sure they would have loved to sqare off against their former team.. It still doesn't seem right to me that Junior Seau retired with a full blown ceremony in San Diego, and then three days later unretires and joins New England!! lol

My picks:

San Diego over Pats :cooltongue: : Pats can try to stop LT all they want but so did everyone else and to little success. They do have Micheal Turner too, who could easily start for 25 teams. That pressure of stopping two backs will be hard enough and SD has Gates and up and coming Vincent Jackson, a fast 6'5 wr who gets open downfield. Rivers has been very effective for a first year QB and he has plenty of weapons(just ask Cincinatti). The Pats defense is getting older and slower and the brilliance of Brady/Bellichik won't be enough to overcome a talent mismatch.

Colts over Baltimore. I just think someone has to win an upset on the road and the best QB in football has the best chance.

Saints over Philly. Brees, Bush, homefield advatage will be too much.

Bears over Seahawks: Grossman must play well...it will be colder sunday than the recent balmy weather we've been enjoying(Al Gore was right).

Saints
Bears

Well what do you know? Tarl_Cabot was correct!! Those pesky Indianapolis Colts knocked off Balitimore 15-6!! The Ravens played good defense but the offense was very poor.. they had their opportunities, especially when McNair threw that INT at the goal line!!. Oh well, the AFC championship game should be very intriguing.. Tarl, I hope your Chargers are up for the game tomorrow.. I hope that the week off doesn't have the same effect on them like I think it did to the Ravens!

i was disappointed at the ravens game. the defense did their part but the offense just couldnt get anything going. our fans hyped it up to way beyond a playoff game since it was the colts returning to baltimore.
i
just hope that whoever plays them in the championship beats them so they stay out of the super bowl. i like peyton manning and i like tony dungy but i will never root for the horseshoe

But of courshe I was ! I shoulda went to Vegas! :)

SD will be ready...anything can happen...god, it's gonna be a tough night to sleep! :D :D

'Grats to the Saints and Drew Brees... :D

I have no idea. What a weak choice. Garcia makes the 4th and 10 throw without resistance (just a flag) so why not give him another shot?

I didn't know Marty is the one that missed the FG, or dropped like 10 passes, or the one that fumbled the Brady int that would have ended the game. Let's look for better reasons as to the way a team loses then the easy, "it is the coach" reason, shall we?

NE, of course, gets every brake to go their way. It really is uncanny.

Until Marty can overcome the ineptitude of whatever team he coaches, he's still in "choke mode". 14-2 is a fine regular season record but that doesn't guarantee you an automatic Super Bowl; gotta work for it.

New England manned up and took care of business plain and simple.

Do you realize 3 of Marty's post season losses are due to a missed FG kick at the end? (When did NE ever miss a game winning kick??)

He has also lost to John Elways's drive, and a Byner fumble at the goal line.

Fate can be cruel.

All a coach can do is put his team in the right situation to win the game. The game I saw had that. SD receives dropped 7-10 passes. They had the INT on Brady. They had NE stopped on 3rd and long (the play where Brady fumbled) but the ball was recovered by NE and they got the gift 15 personal foul call (despite both players shoving each other)-- that led to a FG btw.

People like to blame one player (or a coach) for a team's wins or losses. It is easy to do that. However, after watching so many football games, you know there is much more to it than that.

As for Marty, you cannot win 200 games in this league by accident. He is not the reason why they lost.

NE got everything to go their way in the fourth quarter. That's not under despute. When a playoff team gets that many chances, they will win every time.

Hey unfortunately that's just the way it is. San Diego had their chances but blew it. And I'll say it again that until Marty can prove that he's much more than a regular season coach, this is a burden that he'll be most remembered for.

Fate may be cruel but you can change it.

that was an exciting game. the three things that really killed the chargers were the fumbled punt, the fumbled interception, and the headbutt.

Yes,Fate can be cruel...Marty is a L-O-S-E-R. I don't care who did what...he made TWO really horrible calls. He absolutley has to go or I can be a fan no more. The guy is a freakin post season LOSER. If a tsunami occurs, if a freakin asteroid lands, if hurrican katrina returns for a rematch, I blame Mary Shottenhiemer. The guy just courts disaster. That his children are still breating is dissapointing to me.

Go Colts! Or Saints... whatever...

I am so extremely dissapointed...and it's becase of this cliche spoutting L-O-S-E-R coach we gave a chance after he's a proven failure...OMFG! :cooltongue:

Wow!! thats too bad Tarl.. I'll admit San Diego should have won that one.. but way too many turnovers, unsportsmanlike penalties and dropped passes let New England hang around.. Also, if it were up to me, Nate Kaeding should be let go.. thats twice now he's let them down in the playoffs ( once against the Jets in '04, and now yesterday's miss..) Still, you guys had a great year... should Marty be let go, I wonder if the Chargers might try and get Bill Cohwer as a coach for '08?? How about that??

I think Keading should have been give the chance to kick a 48 yarder in the first quarter but Marty went for it on 4-11.:cooltongue: That absolutely killed the Chargers...and dropped passes...I like Kaeding. He's rebounded from that playoff disaster and one miss is forgivable...Marty loosing 2 home playoff games in 3 years is not. That challenge he made in the 4th was beyong stupid.

Yeah, I don't understand that 4-11 call myself, Tarl!.. Perhaps you're right about Kaeding... I withdraw my previous statement.. he should have never been put in that position to win the game anyway.. San Diego had plenty of missed opportunities to put New England away..i.e. the Brady INT that was fumbled and recovered by the Pats??... Well, given how frosty Marty's relationship with the Chargers GM is, I wouldn't be surprised if Schottenheimer gets canned!! :cooltongue:

I certainly hope so. I'm also a Bears fan and I like Drew Brees for his Charger days but I think I'd like to see Peyton Manning get the ring and validate his legacy as a hall of famer.

No predictions here, because I have a history of jinxing teams, but I'll tell you how I'd like to see it shake out...

The up-to-now serviceable Peyton Manning explodes with a four hundred plus yard game and finally beats Brady and the Pats in January, "exorcising the demons" and advancing to his first SB at the expense of the team that has kept him out of the Big Dance in the past.

Then he goes on to face his daddy's old team, the Saints, in the SB. As much as many people would like to see the Saints cap off their miracle season with a championship, Manning and company do not waste their chance at immortality and play their best game of the year when it counts the most.

Again, not a prediction. Just what I'd like to see happen, as a football fan and a lover of fine sports drama.

I predict that the Indianapolis Colts will positively, absolutely defeat New England in the AFC championship game and go on to win the Super Bowl.

See you next year.
