Good point hcmv007. Although, she is Carrie Underwood , so I can't blame Romo. I remember once, in my youth, as a guitar-player in a band, I was unprepared for a couple of gigs because of my girlfriend, if you get my drift....
Can't say I am blaming him, but he should get his head out of his backside long enough to handle a SNAP. That's his JOB. He has been the holder for a last few years, so there is no excuse for his choking. Now onto his QB play, he needs a new QB coach, defenses have figured him out. Period.

Grossman's just awful IMO yet he's on a 13-3 Bears team...

Is it me or has anyone else noticed just how mediocre to terrible NFL qbs have gotten lately? There's really only a handful of field generals that actually stood out this year.

Having the #1 Defense in the NFL, and having Devon Hester returning punts and KO's for TD's doesn't hurt either. But you do make a great point, Number 6. Some Qb's in College do not play the position on the NFL, b/c they want someone 6'4 or taller, be able to chuck the ball 80 yds a pop, etc. I even heard a pro scout say Troy Smith might be best served moving to WR?! of all positions, what a load of crap!

The way that the experts handle the Smith situation is pretty common but insulting still. I remember how they handled Charlie Ward(Florida State), who was on a championship team in college, and he was passed up totally in the draft. Vince Young's aptitude was questioned prior to last year's draft and probably hurt his standings in many eyes because of some stupid tests scores. I was so glad when he stuck it to the Texans to snatch victory from them in the waning seconds of their encounter. For me, the jury's still out on him but Young has the markings to be something special.
I'm from the old school when it comes to quality quarterbacks; Marino, Montana, Moon, Fouts and Brian Sipe were my idols when I was a kid. Even really suck teams twenty years ago had more than formidle qbs on their squads. Not so much the case nowadays...they're either par or just right out suck to me.

I really miss Young, Favre (prime), Aikman, Marino, and Elway.
The best quarterbacks today are nowhere near as good. Manning can't win big games. Donovan is terribly inaccurate and not good with managing at the line. Vick should not even play quarterback.
Only Tom Brady gets my vote as a quarterback worthy of "great". Plays extremely well and wins.

Farve is from a dying breed I'm afraid; it will be awhile before there's another Brett. I'd wish he'd just let go now before he blemishes his legacy anymore than it already is.
Brady...meh, don't get me wrong, he's good but I'm not sure if it's the system(that he's been in since the get-go) that helps him flourish or right out talent. That plays a big part in determining one's weight. At least Brett Favre still kicked butt regardless of who was coaching him or the new system he was under. Belichek has alot to do with Brady's success; the man's a modern-day Lombardi.
I frequent Philly every year via South Jersey and thoughts on McNabb are very mixed.

Absolutely terrible. This is one of the most embarassing games I've ever been a part of as Jets fan. But, this is what one has to expect from team that only defeated one winning team all season.

I should have gone to Ladbrokes.Colts over Chiefs: Payton's arm, and his career, are on the line.
Seattle over Dallas: Both at 9-7, they're playing in Seattle.
Pats over Jets: Tom Brady.
Philly over Giants: The Eagles are firing on all 8.
Well, the Seattle/Dallas and Philly/Giants games were certainly exciting, and could have gone either way.

i wonder how many times they will mention that the colts used to be in baltimore before they left and moved to indy back in 84 during this week leading up to the game. all that really matters to me is the game out on the field.

Yeah, that will be brought up more times than some of the repeated threads here at CBn.i wonder how many times they will mention that the colts used to be in baltimore before they left and went to indy back in 84 during this week leading up to the game. all that really matters to me is the game out on the field.

Well the Giants vs Eagles game was certainly a lot more exciting than I thought it was going to be!! Giants hung in there and had a shot at winning.. but Philadelphia had the edge.. Kind of a disappointing way for Tiki Barber to end his career, but I'm sure he'll do great in his ventures into televison! lol..

I sell you a 'fan share' for the Chargers.
It is interesting how all home teams won...

I'm soooo ready for Football season...it's the only thing to look forward to this fall since Bond is late...again( ).
I'm from San Diego so naturally my team is the long suffering Chargers. I really think they will win the big one this year...silly but hey, why root if ya don't believe? I don't see New England winning it again this year and the Colts always find a way to tank if they play outdoors in cold weather(The KC game they won in '03 was in the '50sF). My only concern for the Chargers is our Head coach is a classic big game choker but since they didn't lose any key players in the offseason and improved their Defense in the draft I'm gonna go with my Bolts.
San Diego over Atlanta
The battle of the 2001 NFL draft trade between San Diego and Atlanta:Vick for Tomlinson, Drew Brees. I'll take a top pair over an Ace any day.
Your thoughts?
Where are you Mr. The Dove? I know you love your Broncos but as long as Jake Plummer is the QB expect big plays, comebacks and huge mistakes . I just hope we don't send Philip Rivers to Denver in '06.
Wow,so much can change in a year and a half...when I started this thread Katrina hadn't happened, Daniel Craig was not yet 007 or even on the radar for the part, Casino Royale was just being written...now, The Falcons have a different coach, Drew Brees is playing great-for New Orleans and I'm still waiting for my SD SB...and it's looking very good so far after a 14-2 season. It's been a great time to be a Bond fan and a Charger fan!
