Sony is a huge corporation with its fingers in so many pies, it probably ain't Bond related. If it is, it's the end of the franchise, because McMahon would be terrible.Interesting tidbit from a poster at Mi6 showing an IMdb story which tells that Sony has exclusively bought out all the advertising for the season premiere of Nip/Tuck on September 20.
Hmmmmmm.......Julian McMahon and Sony on September 20. Can we say Bond?It seems quite the coincidence--who knows? I've started warming to the idea of McMahon as Bond(though not near my top choice) and this would be better than the final four with the possible exception of Alex.

But let's not get carried away: for all we know the Sony thing may have nothing to do with 007 at all.

For one thing, McMahon isn't the most attractive guy. He isn't ugly, but there are much better-looking candidates out there. More to the point, he's a second-rate actor with no charisma. I've seen him in Nip/Tuck and he comes off as sleazy, arrogant, and annoying.
I haven't seen the show yet, but my impression was he plays a sleazy, arrogant, and annoying character? Is that show serious stuff or more of a comedy? I simply don't know enough about it.

He's gotten respect and good reviews for his acting in Nip/Tuck and the traits you find annoying are the traits he effectively acts according to his character. As to his looks, he doesn't do anything for me

McMahon is way down my list, in the "I really hope it's not them" area.
I really like Nip Tuck, and McMahon does a great job of playing the sleazy surgeon. But I would REALLY prefer he not get the 007 role.
This Sony news is disturbing, as such.
Sigh. [begins to prepare self for the Forehead Era of Bond-dom]

That would also hurt Goran's chances as well, wouldn't it?

My take: If McMahon is the new Bond, the franchise is done. It will devolve into a direct-to-video series or a TV show.I'd be willing to accept McMahon in the role, provided Daniel Craig, Clive Owen, and Gerard Butler all turned it down first.
I second that.
Actually I think McMahon would be quite good - he'd be a much colder bastard than Brosnan ever was.![]()

McMahon's red flag -- he's commited to at least another season of Nip/Tuck. If the Broccolis are sticking to some of Cubby's rules, wouldn't that put him in pretty much the same position as Brosnan was in '86 where they wouldn't hire an actor for a film when people see him on television every week for free? Cubby didn't want that conflict.
That would also hurt Goran's chances as well, wouldn't it?
Remington Steele was on a network (NBC). Nip/Tuck is on Cable, you would have to pay to see it. Since ER is on NBC, that would affect Goran, but not Julian.

I want a dollar for everytime someone says that in relation to ANY choice of cast, crew, etc.

Excuse me, but McMahon was considered a second-rate actor when he was on "Profiler" and "Charmed". However, he was reconsidered a first-rate actor when he starred in "Nip/Tuck".

"Nip/Tuck" is a drama series but with a very nasty, dark humor. McMahon plays a character that is arrogant, strong, darkly funny, tough as nails yet also at times vulnerable, a sexual predator who can get almost any woman he likes, drives fast cars - actually, he shows off a lot of character traits Bond has.
I think he would be a safer choice than an unknown but still a good choice. McMahon definitely has a lot of potential. The only thing that is against him is "Nip/Tuck" is already being renewed for a fourth season. (The third season is currently shooting and the season premiere is on September 20). However, "Nip/Tuck" never plays it safe. Killing off McMahon

It doesn't matter. Broccoli didn't want to share his star with anybody. If you're Bond, you're Bond. You can't be in a TV show. If they're following Cubby's rule then McMahon is "red flag" and he's out. Same with Goran.
