Looking at the marketing strategy which is quite slow by the distributor ,I think it will do average business like Tailor of Panama.

How well will this film do at the box office. will it be a surprised sleeper hit or just another very good movie that no one see. boxoffice report website predict it will open around 4 million during weekend .

They're doing the Sideways/Lost in translation strategy which is to release it slowly and let word of mouth build up. If it works, it could be a hit that plays well into 2006. I still think the trailer is all wrong though, they're trying to sell it as 'wacky'.

Looks like the release date has been pushed back to December 23, 2005.
That's interesting, usually the REAL Oscar bait comes out around then. A sign of confidence? This is probably a good delay rather than the usual pushed-back-cos-its-crap release date shuffle.
I was all ready to see it on my Thanksgiving break tho...I'm a little annoyed.

When looking at it in that view, I would say the two dates don't make much difference. In my opinion.

I always thought Oscar season started at the beginning of December.
I wasn't positive myself.
Generally a lot of big Oscar contenders are released on a couple of screens right at the end of December so they can just qualify as being a 2005 release, and they roll out in wide release in January, right when the Oscar ballots are being distributed...this year, Munich and The New World will be going that route

(the PB is a cheerleader scene shows up at the end... lol)
Plus one photo of Pierce with a Margarita in hand looking as if he's just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

The thing is Brosnan can act. In Evelyn he totally left behind his Bond character persona.
That said, I can see this movie as quite difficult to market. I don't think the title will help and Brosnan's non-Bond movies don't take much money. Thomas Crown did well but that was a few years back and Brosnan was playing to type.
Brosnan's problem in the future is being recognised for his acting, shaking off Bond and still making movies that make money, but I think he will do okay.

According to the official site, the film is now set to open 23 December in New York and Los Angeles, and January everywhere else.
A bit more info :
23 Dec : LA and NYC (to qualify for the Oscars)
6th January : Top 20 markets
20th January : Nationwide release
Looks like they are really serious about Oscar chances here. By a strange coincidence, another movie that's doing the same limited/wide release pattern is...Munich. This could mean a potential Bond vs Bond showdown at the Oscars!

If Brosnan won an Oscar that would put a jetpack on his career. His image, status and future as a film actor would be transformed, because nobody would ever expect it to happen.
