Here is a teaser poster for The Matador:

Posted Image

I saw two others. One with just Pierce Brosnan's name and one that only had the title.

Simple, but effective.

That poster makes the film seem a little darker than it actually is.

Just found out today that the movie's main song will be a reworking of the 1982 hit "Heat of The Moment" by the 80's super group ASIA, one of my all time fave bands. :)

About time there's a release date for this film. Ironic that it's coming out in November, as that would be the time Casino Royale would've been released had it begun filming in January with Pierce as 007.

November 18 could be a luck day for Brosnan.I bet Matador will do good business at Box Office and score few awards.

Composer Rolfe Kent has a 2 1/2min selection from his score of the Matador on his site called "Manila Fiasco". http://www.rolfekent...lms/matador.htm

His accompanying notes:

MATADOR (2005)

Dir: Richard Shepard

A wonderfully entertaining and twisted plot written by Richard Shepard, this is my fourth collaboration with him. The score consists of a mixed bag of instruments including duduk and middle eastern drums as well as very traditional orchestral layers.

Elaborate programming and producing by Trevor Gilchrist, Synthestration by Stephen Coleman, and Mixing by Scott Cochran and Trevor Gilchrist

I like the exotic instruments and atmosphere of the piece. Did I detect a slightly twisted version of the 007 theme in there?

Just heard it...not bad, different - there are some similarities (the upbeat part) to Kent's score for Sideways

Can't wait for the movie

The French site Allocine.fr has two clips from the film. This of course means they're in French, but one has no dialogue and needs none.

Just a quick question - I think (note that) that BoxOfficeMojo has this listed as NC-17. Is that right?

Wow, you're right, Jim... Everywhere I can actually find a MPAA rating for the film it's NC-17 :)

(NC-17), for aberrant sexuality including violence

Box office mojo made a mistake on the rating .That NC-17 rating is for an old Almodovar film which has the same title. Brosnan Matador is a R rated film.

At first I was thinking that, templer1972. But then I was running across other sites with the same NC-17 rating for Brosnan's film. I forget which site I saw it on, but it said, "NC-17, rating adjustment" [???]. Guess the mistake is floating around the net.

Ugh I hated this trailer! Don't get me wrong, I still want to see it, but the voiceover and music were really annoying. Its like they were trying to make it look more like a wacky screwball comedy or something, when everything I've read about it suggests that it is more black comedy/drama.

I think the departure is:

It's a good movie amidst the mass of filmic dreck we've had to contend with the past few years.

I think that's what it is.

:)
