Choosing any other actor than Goran Visnjic would be 100% politics! Ok, he is from beautiful Croatia and from slavic origin, not english. Even better! Ok, he is an actor. Don˙t you think he can learn how to speak more brittish? Of course he can! He won˙t be speaking russian english anyway. Apart from that, his role in ER was intentionally chosen and his accent id forced in order to better outline that he is from Craotia 8Luka Kovac).

Sorry, other actors are not charismatic at all. Apart from having accent, they are far behind Goran.

New Bond for new Millenium.

See ya

Welcome to CBn CRObond.

Yeah. Just look at Brosnan's terrible Russian accent in The World Is Not Enough.

I'm sure Goron could lose his accent completely with a on-set voice coach. It worked for Tom Hanks in 'The Terminal'. :)

Cheers,

Ian

I saw Goran Visnjic in a drama/thriller called The Deep End a few days ago and it's one of his better performances I think. I just do not like him from what I've seen on the show ER.

Good point. :)

Yeah but at least there an Englishman impersonating a Russian was part of the story, so all we were asked to believe was that James Bond didn't do a very good Russian accent -- no one asked us to believe he was Russian.  With Goron we're asked to believe that this guy who sounds like a Croatian doing a bad English accent really is English.

I'd rather have Pierce the pensioner back then mr. Goran as Jameski Bondeski. :)
But that is just my personal opinion and taste.

I'm with you on that. As indifferent I am to Pierce Brosnan's interpretation of Bond, I would support him 100% if the choice came down to either him or Goran. Goran just isn't right for the role.

The only news is SUPPOSEDLY Goran is having an audition. BUT who knows if that is true. Anyway when news like that is coming out that sort of makes me think if that is in the news it is either false or means that person is not likely to be Bond since Eon doesn't like the actors publicizing such things.

Maybe he's auditioning for another part in the film. I just can't see EON even considering such a radical change to the Bond character by casting someone who would have a difficult time being passed off as a British agent.

I agree, tdalton. I hope so anyway. I can't see him as Bond when they have very good candidates already who won't have to work at the accent.

And it is funny how a Bond film will have many characters and yet, every time it's rumored an actor is being auditioned....oh, it must be for Bond! LOL

A Croatian website: http://www.24sata.hr...icles/view/5418 ...is now claiming GV is auditioning next Wed. Here's a translation from the google board:

GORAN VISNJIC OFFICIAL AUDITION FOR BOND.

Goran Visnjic will be in London next wednesday for the part of the James Bond. In the end, the buzz from the internet was true: our most famous actor is one of the top candidates chosen by the producers of the highly popular movies based on Ian Fleming's books.

Yesterday, after the ceremony for the "Vladimir Nazor" award, Goran spoke for the first time about his contacts with the producers and the director, and confirmed that his "in" for the role of the world most famous secret agent.

Croatian theaters once again have tried to put him on cotract, but the talented actor from the city of Sibenik had to apologize telling that is fully booked with various ingagements in USA and UK, including the audition for James Bond, the one that could launch him in the ultimate stardom.

I'd be more open to a Black Bond who's British than a Croatian.

I'm actually warming to the guy - he does have a look that I could accept. I doubt he's actually up for Bond though - the accent is most definitely in the way.

Doesn't "going public" rule him out anyway, using EON's tight confidentiality rules?

Besides the accent.

I hate for my first post here to be a negative one, but...

Goran Visjnic? Come ON! Enough is enough here. We've had some pretty ridiculous rumored actors lately, but this is just getting comical now! If he plays Bond, he'll be laughed/booed off the screen (perhaps both) as soon as he opens his mouth. Unless Casino Royale is going to be a silent movie (Hey, wouldn't that be something?), we'd be looking at a massive flop, with Sony panicking and throwing $30 million at Pierce to return for a DAF style Bond 22. One can only presume, and hope, that Visjnic is just the latest in the long line of inappropriate candidates, and there'll be someone else mooted for the role next week. It is highly suspicious that a Croatian news source appears to be the origin of this rumor, but still...just the thought of it. Anyway, hello!

I think that he has the right look, but I think it would be a very bad idea to cast him. I'm still sticking to the same people I've stuck to for the past two years...CLIVE OWEN and CHRISTIAN BALE!!!

I agree. If only Clive Owen were a few years younger (even though Brosnan started out at 42 and was one of the most successful Bond's) or if Christian Bale wasn't Batman (even though he could be Batman and James Bond at the same time...) ah..., I guess everything will fall into place in the next few months.

They don't want a 'successful' movie right now, they want to make a movie a surefire hit, which is hard to do with an actor who isn't extremely well known (up until 2004, Clive Owen or Christian Bale wouldn't have worked very well, but both of them are instant A-listers now.)

Little difficult to say for absolute certainty from the fan's POV at this stage IMO.
