I thought about this last year... What do you people think of Goran Visnjic (Luka Kovac in TV's ER) as a possible Bond? (Again, I am new here and this may have been discussed.) He is not British, but he could fit the mold. He also has the ability to portray a type of "dark side." My wife and her friends tend to think that he is very attractive. He kind of reminds me of Tim Dalton (who I liked as Bond).
What are your thoughts??

I've seen him on ER many times and he just doesn't jump out at me.

I can't say that I have seen anything that Dougray Scott has been in. Any suggestions of movies I can rent to see him? I like that he is a Scot.

He's a little dour in Enigma but you also get Jeremy Northam.

As far as Goran Visnijc goes, once you get past the nationality, he's not such a bad idea. I'd like to see him as a supporting character except there's the risk that he'd be more interesting than whoever plays Bond

Thanks folks, I'll check out Enigma and possibly MI2. Midshipman, thanks for the Visnjic pics. I think that he has that same cold stare that Dalton has. Why did Dalton "bow out" anyhow?

Whoops, gave props to the wrong person (also wrong name--Daltonfan I know, I know midshipman is something else). Thanks KB007 for the pics. (Remember, I'm just a dumb recruit).

No problem. And since you've never seen Dougray Scott in any movies, here's what he looks like:

I'm sorry. But Scott is not how I picture Bond. He would make a good KGB agent though. I'll still check him out in the movies.

He's physically convincing, but doesn't seem like he could shake the accent well enough for him to be an acceptable Bond.

He may not be accepted by the public right away, but the producers may think otherwise if he made the short list. I do remember that Mel Gibson (Born in NY but grew up in Australia) was offered the part in the 1980's. Also, Burt Reynolds claimed that he was offered the part after Connery said "Never again." It would have been comical to hear Reynolds attempt at the accent.
Also about Visnjic: he was a paratrooper, practices Kung Fu, was People Magazine's sexiest import and one of their 50 most beautiful people.
I know I may sound like I'm hung up on this guy but he does have some good credentials.

DOUGRAY SCOTT WILL BE BOND
He was on the Jonathan Ross radio show last weekend and during the interview Ross said and after your stint in Beckett you will be doing Bond (Much silence a little snigger and straight onto the next song)
For those who are not familiar with Jonathan Ross he does have a reputation for being mischievious and the prelude in the interview claimed that the two of them were well socially acquainted and I feel that Ross knows, after this statement they moved on to other things and Ross only flirted once more with the subject stating that if Dougray didnt do it he(Ross) would.

I am sure that he knows and was teasingly trying to make Scott squirm as there will be no doubt an insistence of silence imposed by the Broccolis on the next incumbent.

Plus hes a Hibs supporter so no doubt its him.

Dr Blockbuster is right and I have posted many times in the past year on countingdown.com in the James Bond thread stating that it is him

Surely not anymore deliberation !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott as Bond is the ideal choice.

An American couldnt cut it as Bond as he is soooooo British and Scottish at that he was educated at Fettes in Edinburgh and has to be a Scot.

Brosnan was a great Bond and so was Dalton but the movies in Moores era took a ridiculous turn latterly and were almost comedic.

The Dalton era was sparse with output but it did last 9 years and there was a great desire from the public to see Bond back on the big screen , Goldeneye through to DAD have shown the love for the character and the love for all things Bond.

To move on they need an actor who can take on the mantle and continue for at least 3-4 movies (9years) to give continuity .

The actor should have experience and presence and a good deal of ability.

Although by all accounts Bond should be a British man unequivocally, saying an American CAN'T be Bond is really selling the art of acting short. Plenty of Americans get their dramatic training in Britain. People with a good sense of character immersion can do wonders. Don't tell me an American couldn't act like a British man or emulate the public school aire and sensibility. Give me a break. There are plenty of actors that could do it. Maybe no 'names', but there are people out there.

Whoever thought Daniel Davis - a southern boy born and bred - could play a prim British butler or even Sherlock Holmes' nemesis Dr. Moriarty with such perfection? Well, he did. When 'The Nanny' was in production Charles Shaunessy said repeatedly how surprised he was by Davis' accuracy.
