I think we all were Skudor. Trust me REVENGE OF THE SITH will renew your faith in Lucas. This episode is more in keeping with the original trilogy than the earlier prequels were

Atticus....sorry, but the dialogue in  A NEW HOPE is far, far worse than anything in this episode. I think if you view it without nostalgia tinted glasses you might see it that way too.
Really the 1977 film has some of the worst dialogue ever committed to film.

View Post

Okay, you could have a point about the dialogue. More I think about it, it's not the dialogue per se that I have a problem with - it's that it comes out of the mouths of oh-so-very-punchable characters like whiny Young Vader and his whiny wife. If the main characters annoy, then so will the film.

"I would say that no Bond movie comes as close to being so downright entertaining as REVENGE OF THE SITH."

NSNA being your favourite Bond movie if I recall, I think it's safe to say "Do give up the day job"

Ties in nicely at the end...even Peter Cushing character from STAR WARS was there in the closing minutes. The only issue is:

/spoiler.gif
in RETURN OF THE JEDI Leia talks about remembering her mother -- how is that possible?
/gen_line.gif

View Post

I'm giving Lucas the benefit of the doubt and feel that it's not Portman Carrie Fisher's character is referring to.

In RotJ Luke asks Leia specifically if she remembers her "real mother", implying that she knows she was adopted.

Grievous was a cool action gimmick, but a horribly weak character. I wish he'd been given some more weight and intimidation factor. He came across fairly goofy when he wasn't doing any lightsaber stuff.

I read the script and the novelization of ROTS before seeing the film. They try to explain that Leia had her eyes wide open when she was presented to her mother in the medical room whereas Luke had his closed. Still, this doesn't exactly explain how Leia recalled her mother as being "kind". It is, however, possible that Leia may have been told about her real mother and shown media clips of her (being she was such a public figure). I mean, JFK, Jr. had all sorts of clips of his father to try and get an idea about who he was. It is interesting that Bail Organa knows that Anakin was the father...but he wouldn't have known all those years in the Senate that Vader was Anakin.

Yep, even after twenty thousand dollars worth of film school training I'm not ashamed to say I'll take a fairly weak character as long as he's cool and/or interesting.

Oh, I'll take him at least. I just wish he'd been given some weight as well, like that other minor villain from the prequels, Jango Fett.

Lucas couldn't add weight to a character if you gave him the world's supply of cement.

The 'padawan' writer should have enlisted the 'jedi masters' who instructed him on empire.
"You will go to the writers guild system. There you will learn from Kasdan, the master who wrote for me..." *Lucas reaches out to the ghostly figure of fan satisfaction then collapses onto the floor*

Still, I did like ep3 as a bit of fun and adventure, it's just not on the level of empire or jedi.

I finally saw Episode III. It's a good SW film. Sets up 4-6 and ties everything up well.Effects and action were off the charts.I think the movie didn't sabotage itself like the last two. I'll own it someday.I'll have to see it again for sure...

*spoiler comment*:

I think The much mailigned "Nooooooo!!!" scream fit within the story. After all, Vader was just placed into armour and is still 22 and just days removed from seeing his wife for the last time...people are so horrified buy that but this isn't Vader circa OT films. I wasn't bothered by that at all.He should be upset by her death. It would have been stupid if he didn't react in some way.

RESPONSE TO SPOILER COMMENT!

For me it wasn't the fact that he responded, it was the way he responded. His "NO!" was just way too50's Hammer Studios (I imagine that entire scene was Lucas's homage).I would have expected a scream that come from near madness, one that rattled the theatre walls, the sound of all "good" leaving a soul (I think I'm beginning to sound like Harry at AIC :) ). It was a big moment, and I feel that Lucas blew it. Even Superman's scream at the death of Lois Lane was better IMO.

Went to see it last night. When Padme died it got to me a bit. dully large to JW music score when they hand over Luke and Leia. I wasn't all impressed with the 'Darth vador gaining his armour'. could have been lot more dramatic. largly due to the score. Anakin vs Obi. fantastic.

If you have the film's soundtrack. You would have probably noticed, well i did that the 'battle of heroes' wasn't heard instead we get music from phantom menace.

Overall it was excellent. well done george.
