Would be cheap, has the bulk, suitably theatrical. Although, I admit, another British villain.

In my opinion, Cox is one of those actors (like Hopkins, Gambon and Suchet) who would be great as either Le Chiffre or M.

However, because Brandauer has already played a villain, and the official Bond series may understandably choose to ignore the existence of a competitor, that's the reason I suggested Udo Kier as a backup.

How about Sam Neill as Le Chiffre?
Thats an interesting choice. I think I would rather see him in the role of M but I think he may work for Le Chiffre.
I think I'm in a minority that thinks he would've been a pretty good Bond, although no where near Dalton.
I also think that Neill would have been a good Bond. Of course, I'm glad that Dalton got the role, but it's a shame that Neill wasn't ever able to step into the tux and give it a try as Bond.

Interesting comments, tdalton and Andrew, because you both probably know that Sam Neill was, at one time, the top choice to assume the role of Bond, following Roger Moore's departure. How about Sam Neill as Le Chiffre?

Neill was the top choice for the role among all the Broccoli organization's executives, with the exception of one individual . . .
. . . the one individual whose vote counted most . . .
. . . Cubby Broccoli. He wanted Timothy Dalton.
And he got him.
(I still like David Suchet best for LeChiffre). (Then again, I'm really not familiar with Sam Neill's work -- but I think Suchet is an outstanding character actor).

As for the role of Le Chiffre, though, I'm afraid I don't see him as being right for the role. Neill would be good as an ally of Bond's, a fellow agent (good or bad), a henchman, or a David Dragonpol-type from Never Send Flowers or a Guy Thackeray-type from Zero Minus Ten.

I think a poll on this subject is a great idea! How to create a poll about the best actor for LeChiffre ?
Can someone please tell Adler 001 how to go about it?
Qwerty?
Only CBn team members (the staff) can create polls.
The only difficulty I see in this case is that a limited amount of choices can be added to the polls we make (and I'm sure the names we suggest would far exceed that amount).
