That stupid bit in The Living Daylights where Bond is driving around with the barn on his roof. Come on. Brought down the whole movie with that idiotic stunt. (Still my favorite movie but come on!) Why didn't they just have it blow up just as he drives out through the doors. No? I want a re-shoot!

i love that fight and I especially like the fact that Bond tires, it makes the fight more of a challenge. I hate it when heroes can just walk over their enemies.

I thought that made the fight (against arguably one of the most dangerous henchmen in the series) all the better.

That fight is one of the best in the series. The tension from the nuclear weapon is *high* and the fight is excellently choreographed. It's quite clear Bond's out of his league.

There was a distinct sense of danger to Bond in that scen - something lacking for more recent movies. I would hardly describe it as poorly done...

Let's see: Bond mis-matched against a apparently near invulnerable foe. No gadgets on which to rely. Keeps on fighting despite the odds and getting severely pummeled. Who wouldn't be tired? Finally able to defeat Oddjob by using his wits and turning Oddjob's own weapon against him. And this is poorly done? I'd be interested to learn what secret_007 considers to be well done in the series.

How about the whole split in fandom period? This whole thing is just as silly as when all the Harry/Hermione shippers said they'd boycott the seventh book because Hermione might (gasp, shock!) not hook up with Harry :D

It may sound arrogant, but I don't see a split in fandom. There are two groups:
1) Fans who are willing to give Craig a chance (whether they, at this point, think they like the casting or not)
2) Those who only claim to be fans.

This is not a division between fans; it is mice and men. Gender neutral, of course.

It does sound a bit arrogant, and a bit demeaning to assume that those who arent open to Craig are not fans. While I'm firmly of the opinion that Craig will be an excellent Bond, I don't think it's fair to speak down to the anti-Craig crowd.

I'm not speaking down to the anti-craig crowd. I'm speaking down to the "I only like Pierce Brosnan and will piss on anybody else they try to cast in his place and to prove it I now claim to boycott Bond forever" crowd. More simply, how can you claim to be a Bond fan while saying "I hate Casino Royale" before you've ever seen it!?!! If you claim such things, your fandom has been reduced to the fandom of only a particular actor [or a particular something or other] but not to BOND. Call yourself something other than a Bond fan.

(obviously when I refer to 'you' in the above I'm not really referring to YOU, JB.)

Roger Moore in AVTAK driving a firetruck erratically in the middle of a downtown area with his face in plain sight. Pierce Brosnan doing essentially the same thing in GE in a Russian army tank. Don't secret agents want to keep the identities secret?

The identity doesn't seem to be too secret in many of the movies.

Hmmm, maybe the fact that every hotel manager in the whole world knows him by name strengthens the "code name"-theory...

The weakest moment to me? My all-time-low probably will forever be the invisible Aston. When I first read about it I thought "Can't be serious the bloody journalists. Must have mixed that up. Certainly its meant to be some kind of stealth-gadged that is invisible to radar, heat-seeking missiles or some such thing.

God, was I wrong.

That one killed DAD for me. Almost as much as that code-name-thing did. :D

Octopussy - clown suit, "Siiit", Tarzan yell, tennis jokes

DAD - Invisible car, CGI

DAF - Blofeld in drag

FYEO - only the ending with the parrot and Mrs Thatcher

MR - Jaws finds love, Jaws turns to the good side, Space fight, double-taking pigeon, Jaws flapping his arms after a great stunt in the PTS.

TMWTGG - Sheriff Pepper in Thailand, Goodnight being inept

LALD - Sheriff Pepper

AVTAK - Stacey, the whole Robert St.John Smythe bit

GE/TND - Wade

DAD - when Bond revives Jinx and she says "What took you so long?" and Bond is just happy and laughs. Jinx should have died, she's the worst Bond girl ever. I guess Bond was lonely during his time in prison, because I can't think of any other reason why he would want to save such an annoying [censored] like Jinx. And you would think she would be really appreciative when Bond saved her and would say "Oh James!" like any other likeable woman would. Instead, she just acts like she could've saved herself and didn't need Bond's help. If only she hadn't woke up during that scene, the movie would have been much, much better.

I have to agree with you there Harmonica!!!

I wished she would have died then, aswell!! That line annoyed me at the time, but it was kinda in keeping with her character I suppose.

LOL - it must be bad when he hope the Bond girl dies!!!

Thanks - it's always encouraging when you have a fellow ranter at your side.

But I think Bond realized at the end that Jinx should've died. When he's on the plane and looks down at Miranda Frost's body, the look on his face says "Dang, I was hoping it would've been the other way around!" I bet he wanted to kick himself at that point for saving Jinx and thus ensuring the death of a much more attractive and engaging woman, even if she did betray him.

LOL, I know what you mean.

I mean Miranda Frost had a much nicer outfit on didn't she?

I know it is bad if a woman betrays you, but if she wears little boob-tubes like that, you forgive her, don't you?

 :D
