Oh I just remembered... if it's really hot out and I need some alcohol (I'll have this if I'm on the beach or on a cruse), it's really good...

Miami Vice
5oz Bacardi 151 proof rum
Frozen Pina colada mix
Frozen Daiquiri mix

First: Mix pina colada with 2.5 oz. of rum w/ ice (set aside).
Second: Mix daiquiri with 2.5 oz. of rum w/ ice.
Third: While frozen, add pina colda mix then daiquiri mix in glass (Making sure they do not get mixed together).

That sounds good. You like to cruise? That is a great place to try some new drinks!! I love to go on cruises! I have three 7 night cruises booked this year, first one in May.

Travis

I'm one of the few who have never seen that movie, but don't really care to. But anyway, I never thought I would be someone who would enjoy cruising, but they have all been my favorite vacations. I can't wait until May!

Cruises are great Travis.

There's a notion going around for the next BCW to be a cruise.

I'd dig it.

Now, back to drinks -

Back while I was in Boston and spending one day with one of my Muses, she introduced me to a bit of Holiday cheer.

A Pointsettia (sp?).....damn flowers.

In a tall Collins glass -

2 oz. Champagne
1/2 oz. triple-sec
Topped with Cranberry juice and a splash of midori (creating that cool red/green Christmas colors effect)

Yummy, refreshing and after about three can lead to many games of pool in a loud Irish bar and the requisite amount Guinness.

That sounds like a very tasty drink. I love champagne drinks! I'll have to try it...

Hey Trav... I've only been on 2 cruses but have enjoyed both immensely :)

One cruse was in the Mediterranean, lasted about a week or so... going to all the Greek Islands. :)

The other cruse was just down the Cali coast to Mexico for 3 days.

I finally, I finally had one. A vodka martini.

Thanks Athena for the article, and recipe. I had a person who has expertise in mixing drinks made the Vesper Martini, and the Medium Dry Martini too see which do I like. I love the Medium Dry Martini shaken, though I would like to try with a twist the next time. My mother couldn't understand why, but I never was a fan of fruity drinks like coladas, or daiquiris. Too some this drink would be an acquire taste, but for me it was love at first taste. Once again Muchisimas Gracias Senorita Athena.

I just have Bacardi Breezers myself.

Can't be bothered with all that alcohol business.

But to quote my old creation, which can be found in the Humour section of CBn, Jimmy Blonde 008.3's preference would be:

Gin and Tonic; straight up, no twists.

I will one day have the elusive Vodka Martini, though, as all Bond fans do...

As I choose not to drink alcoholic beverages (not since high school at least) I don't have a "signature drink" as such. The closest would be a lemon, lime & bitters, which is still slightly alcoholic.

Having said this, I was tempted to consume a drink in a Jakarta night spot a couple of years ago because it was called a "Blofeld's Cat," an invention of the resident cocktail barman there.

It was white, of course, but not to my taste so I couldn't finish it.

A while back there was a thread on signature drinks. Just wondering if anyone has any new drinks they would like to share. I'm always game for a new drink! I'm still partial to my vodka martini and Jack & Coke.

Recently when I haven't been in the mood for my Vanilla Vodka Cosmo Martini's... I've been turning to a Screwdriver (Vodka & Orange juice). Simple, but satisfactory. :)

I didn't know you like screwdrivers Athena. That's what got me though college...No, really. I pretty much drank screwdrivers, cape cods (vodka cranberry), and greyhounds (grapefruit juice and vodka).

These days when I want a very strong and good drink I order Rasberry Vox shaken over ice straight up. Regular Vox and Mezaluna are also good shaken until the shaker frosts over and served up. The bar at Red Square in Mandalay Bay is made out of ice so the drinks stay colder. No vermouth, no twists, no ice...just vodka. It helps to get a few lighter drinks in first and then make the switch. During a trade show I drink vodka and Red Bull for my first couple rounds.

Mornings...4 shots of espresso dropped into a large cup of coffee. Keeps you going until lunch.
