Rant about The World Is Not Enough,

The ham-fisted exchanges between Brosnan and Marceau felt like they had been lifted out of "The Bold and the Beautiful," and Renard could have been used way more effectively. He ended up as little more than a henchman. The whole film was low-key and reserved, almost as though the writers wanted to make a "realistic James Bond." They ended up with a 007 fit for daytime TV.
It brought back memories of such boring adventures as DAF and OP. With DAD, they abandoned the whole idea of realism in favor of ultra-unrealism, though I wish they'd all learn some subtlety.

Yes, just about everybody in TWINE was a poor actor at some point in the film. Brosnan seemed to be perfect for the first half, then took a sharp dive (along with the film) during the second. Denise Richards seriously screwed up this movie, and it was her fault! I don't care how badly the character was written--she was awful! I imagine that she had been written to be like Dr. Goodhead, but why the hell cast Denise Richards, an actress famed for her inability to act?

Everyone who has anything to do with TWINE should be blamed collectively for releasing this abnormal mess on the world...

Well, they really were not refering to Renard, but Elektra. TWINE is a piece of angry feminism.
Elektra: Symbolizes the woman whose been abused by men and wants revenge, which she finds in different ways with Bond, Renard, Sir Robert and even M.
M: Symbolizes a mother who has let the father sexually abuse the daughter.
Sir Robert King: Symbolizes the father who has sexually abused his daughter.
Renard: Kidnapper/Rapist
Bond: The lover whom the woman wants to hurt as well.
I don't hate this picture, but it could easily air on the Lifetime Channel.

TWINE does have some really boring moments in it, case and point being David Arnold using the James Bond theme when Bond takes the hook and slides down the wire, during the caviar factory scene. The theme should be used when something exciting happens on screen, not when he is sliding down a wire. It's very boring to look at something like that, unless the person is 500+ feet off the ground.
However, I still like TWINE, and I think the score is great, but its certainly not the best Bond movie.
Just while we are on Brosnan's movies for a sec, I still think Tomorrow Never Dies is his best movie, and I would place it 3rd on my list for favorite Bond movies. It was the perfect Bond movie for the 90's. Bond must stop a media mogul from starting a war just so he can get great television ratings. That was abosolutely perfect for the world in the 90's and even today (coughs) Bill Gates, Ted Turner. The movie has a great pre-title sequence, great action, and a great score. It reminded me a lot of the Bond movies from the 60's.
Sorry I kind of went off topic there.

As M climbs the steps to where Bond / Elektra are - she sees Bond kill Elektra in cold blood. Bond sees M. Why is this 'unlawful killing' been somehow passed over between Bond and M?

I hope the next Bond film follows this formula rather than DAD's. I thought it was entertaining, but it doesn't have the re-watchability of The World Is Not Enough.
