Here's a TWINE review from AICN:

http://www.aintitcoo...lay.cgi?id=4748

:)

Good review. In particular, I agree with:

Sophie's "I'm so ****able and adorable no man could kill me, I'm the most fabulous object in the universe and on top of that I'll cut my right earlobe off, just so I have a zen-esque flaw to my perfect beauty" character just made me want to retch.
Sean Connery's Bond would have ****ed her, and killed her the second he felt she turned.... and he never would have trusted her.
George Lazenby's Bond would have ****ed her, and killed her by ripping out her throat while in the chair.
Roger Moore's Bond would have ****ed her, noticed that the parachute dudes were never firing at her, then pushed her off the cliff.... while saying something like, "Bottoms up"
Timothy Dalton's Bond would have slapped her silly, ****ed her and would have left her crying for more.
Where the hell did Bond develop this, sap? He ain't no tree! This isn't Diana Rigg, this is some self-important high society twit with a severe lack of fire and adventure... the two elements that Bond is most attracted to.

And:

Another thing that really pisses me off about the modern Bond movie is the total lack of indigenous cultures. I miss the Bond that would get captured by the rebels, only to realize that the rebels in this region are actually the good guys... He'd train with them... screw a couple of their babes... then launch the gigantic attack at the end.

Pierce Brosnan plays 007 as a Nancy boy in TWINE. His acting is laughably bad - easily the worst performance by any actor in the 007 role.

Even Brosnan appears embarrassed by the movie and has said on repeated ocassions that it is his least favorite outing as James Bond.

Her role could have been diminished by a good solid hour in TWINE.

Yes indeed.

Almost every other scene...

I'm curious, when did he say it was his least favorite? :)

Pierce Brosnan plays 007 as a Nancy boy in TWINE.

A weird cross between James Bond, Rambo, Princess Di and Tony Blair.

THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH - the perfect Bond film for people who care about nothing other than the beauty of Pierce Brosnan.

You mean diminishing beauty? Look at the scene when he meets Elecktra...he has so much friggin make -up on I was distracted by it and I rarely notice movie make-up(b/c you're not supposed to). :)

It's odd: THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH both came out in 1999, yet Brosnan looks about 10 years older in the latter than he does in the former. :)

You really think so? I don't think there's total drastic changes.

Pierce Brosnan delivers a performance worthy of an Oscar. Yah, I said it.

Don't you mean "worthy of a Razzie"? :)

I suppose you're now going to say that Judi Dench deserved Best Supporting Actress, too, eh? :)

No Oscar, nor Razzie for The World Is Not Enough is fitting.

Didn't it win a Razzie, for Worst Screen Couple?

EDIT: My mistake - it was for Worst Supporting Actress [you know who].

Still - Oscars nil. Razzies one. The Razzies have it.

I think it's better than DAD. I was not immediately disgusted when I left the theater after TWINE. Just dissapointed, with the attitude like I hope they get it right next time; there were some things to like such as the pre-title was awesome and it was great too see Bond on skis again despite some spectacularly weak action(the result of hiring a chic movie director). It's still the second worst Bond film.

OK......
Saying you don't care for TWINE and saying its the worst Bond film are 2 different things. Also, I don't like DAD, but it is far from being the worst film. Settle down.

Your right, I mean, haven't they seen Licence To Kill? A movie which was rated one of the turkey's it's year in the Virgin 1989 Yearbook?

Save your ire for that. :)

It scored extremely high in tests viewings with audiences though.

Denise Richards as a nuclear physcist?

Hilary Duff could have done just as good a job as Denise Richards.

I imagine Catherine Bell playing Christmas Jones. Richards wasn't convincing as the Nuclear physcist who happens to be hot.

LOL! I know the critic who wrote that review, and he told me that it actually earned him hate mail and death threats (!) from Bond fans. One letter stated: "I'm going to use my licence to kill on you." :)

Myself, I never threatened him with anything, but you'd better believe he and I had some very heated debates on LICENCE TO KILL. :)

Oooh no. Richards would still be better than Duff ever could.

Really? I've never heard him rip on it...I know he hated TND. Interesting...He always says the right things on the promo tour...

He seems to have less admiration for the previous film he did when he is promoting the next one. He went on with how comfortable he was in DAD and how it put Bond into situations he's never been in, etc., etc.

Two years later and now he says the producers want to do the same things and all that and he wasn't allowed to stretch the character and whatever. Of course actors don't go around blasting the product while on a promotional tour, but I've see Brosnan talk in roundabout terms about the previous films as to say he ultimately didn't like the finished product.

I find this point interesting too. I actually do not think I'd want her in that role because I would want a better role than Christmas for her.

That is pretty damned funny. Obvisouly I enjoy TWINE, but Brosnan's relationship with King was pitiful. That is one major flaw.

As far as the exerp, I especially like how Dalton's Bond would haved raped her!! Poor Tim, its the only way he can get any.

Whoa! Now that is a different way of looking at things. I'll agree that Connery wouldn't have been as 'nice' as Brosnan.

Eh, I've cooled towards it lately. If I need a Brosnan fix I'd turn to either TND or GE quicker than i would TWINE.

I recently watch them in order. It's odd, there just seems to be that wall of sorts between GoldenEye & Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough & Die Another Day.
