TWINE is definately a top ten Bond for me.

It's often right around #10 for me.

My initial reaction to it was high praise, because at the time I didnt like TND's approach to action. And I felt TWINE was a step in the right direction. While it is (I still mainain the film is decent) they just didnt want to fully commit themselves to making a low key Bond film. I place this film somewhere in the teens I think, definately not last, but pretty close.

My first reaction to the film was sort of in the middle. I enjoy it but it's not in my top ten.

I love TWINE, I look at Denise Richards now and wonder why she is an actress, she'd make a much better nuclear technician, or possibly a CIA spook herself.

eerr, wait. NOPE

I don't think I've made it past the pretitle beyond the first two times I watched this movie, I don't hate it, but I'd rather just watch the pretitle and then my version of DAD in which I edit out Halle Berry by skiping any scene with her in it. Hey! Maybe I'll combine the two and just have two hours of Pierce killing people and saying cool lines. 'The World Is Not Another Day' Electra and Miranda Frost can be in it too. :)

:) :) :)

That would be awesome!... 'The World Is Not Another Day'... although the title does not make much sense.... but still... you made me laugh out loud.

Initial reaction was great, it was my first Bond film in a theatre. Slightly dropped with repeated viewings, but still a good film.

On a serious note, it's hard to believe that it's almost five years since TWINE came out, as it seems like only yesterday (I remember seeing it at a packed showing, some even clapped at the pre-credit sequence :) )

That is my one big thing in reflecting on five years -- the 3-year wait; one film to show for it since then; and a ton of controversy as to who the new Bond will be.

I liked seeing TWINE the first time in the theater, but when it was over I liked more the hype of being another Bond movie and all the excitement that goes with it rather than anything that went on in the film.

Stop the attacks on TWINE!!! LOL

Really, it's not that bad. It had some strengths. The pre-title was cool. The only part of the movie that I don't care for is the end battle in the submarine. Brosnan is on his game in this one! While its not by any means the best, compare it to DAD and it looks damn good.

It's a sure fire rank of 23 for me. Yeah thats right, after all other 19 'offical' films and the 2 'unoffical' and the made for TV CR. I would happiliy rate it after Bond 21 as well because I can honestly not think they can go much worse.

We agree to disagree. TWINE is a fine film, but CBN tends to brutalize it.

I think it's better than DAD. I was not immediately disgusted when I left the theater after TWINE. Just dissapointed, with the attitude like I hope they get it right next time; there were some things to like such as the pre-title was awesome and it was great too see Bond on skis again despite some spectacularly weak action(the result of hiring a chic movie director). It's still the second worst Bond film.

DAD is worst than TWINE, hands down. Dr. No, AVTAK, TMTWGG especially do not have the great performances from the Bond actor like TWINE does. Pierce Brosnan delivers a performance worthy of an Oscar. Yah, I said it. And Snake Eyes, it is foolish for someone to say Bond 21 is going to be better than TWINE. That's like saying The Matador will be better than After The Sunset

Don't you mean "worthy of a Razzie"? :)

I suppose you're now going to say that Judi Dench deserved Best Supporting Actress, too, eh? :)

OK......
Saying you don't care for TWINE and saying its the worst Bond film are 2 different things. Also, I don't like DAD, but it is far from being the worst film. Settle down.

No, Judi Dench is a great actress and a great M, yes. But her plethora of screen time should not be in a Bond film. Her role could have been diminished by a good solid hour in TWINE. But yes, Pierce was great.

Crack is very unhealthy, fyi. :)

I think Brosnan gave his worst effort. Just terrible, wooden, over emotional, pretentious acting...just awful!!!! Electra, sniffle...this is a game I can't afford to play...". Bond doesn't play cards/games/take chances anymore? :) He was playing James Bond in the other 1999 release called the Thomas crown Affair. Maybe his kids swapped scripts in the trailor accidentally and he didn't notice he was playing the wrong role here... :)

Oh, and I agree with you Tarl. His role in TCA was better than TWINE, but he was great in TWINE.

Brosnan's performance is not Oscar-worthy, but he does a fine job. While I garee that he is more Bondonian in The Thomas Crown Affair he is excellent in TWINE. When he kills Elektra, it is one of his best momments as Bond.

More gems from TWINE:

I take pleasure, in great beauty.

I came prepared for a cold reception.

enough ice for today.

Our relationship is strictly plutonic now.

And the piece de resistance....

I thought Christmas only comes once a year!

Ick. and these guys who wrote this crap were not killed but actually re-hired. twice. :)

Here's a TWINE review from AICN:

http://www.aintitcoo...lay.cgi?id=4748

:)

Good review. In particular, I agree with:

Sophie's "I'm so ****able and adorable no man could kill me, I'm the most fabulous object in the universe and on top of that I'll cut my right earlobe off, just so I have a zen-esque flaw to my perfect beauty" character just made me want to retch.
Sean Connery's Bond would have ****ed her, and killed her the second he felt she turned.... and he never would have trusted her.
George Lazenby's Bond would have ****ed her, and killed her by ripping out her throat while in the chair.
Roger Moore's Bond would have ****ed her, noticed that the parachute dudes were never firing at her, then pushed her off the cliff.... while saying something like, "Bottoms up"
Timothy Dalton's Bond would have slapped her silly, ****ed her and would have left her crying for more.
Where the hell did Bond develop this, sap? He ain't no tree! This isn't Diana Rigg, this is some self-important high society twit with a severe lack of fire and adventure... the two elements that Bond is most attracted to.

And:

Another thing that really pisses me off about the modern Bond movie is the total lack of indigenous cultures. I miss the Bond that would get captured by the rebels, only to realize that the rebels in this region are actually the good guys... He'd train with them... screw a couple of their babes... then launch the gigantic attack at the end.
