Interesting to note the alterations in the sequence of events early on in the story.

Noting that this is all your opinion and you're perfectly entitled to it and I'm not here to change it for you...
...and I agree with you about Brokenclaw...
...but what's so bad about Colonel Sun? Story? Characters? Style? I'm not here to defend it - just interested.
NB - be wary of The Man from Barbarossa. It is weird.

I was deceived by this book when I read it in the 70s. Because my only point of comparison was Fleming books.
But now that times as gone by, now that Wood, Gardner and Benson have written many Bond books my opinion regarding Colonel Sun has changed.
And now, I consider this book has one of the best nonFleming book.
And as Jim, I would like to know why IndyJones doesn't loke it at all?

Ah! Another Ambrose fan. I have read most of his books, and also purchased the Band of Brothers DVD box set.
I really enjoyed his two non-military books: Undaunted Courage about Lewis & Clark, and Nothing Like it in the World about the building of the transcontinental railroad.

Here is the order I have re-read, which was based on bookstore availability:
Casino Royale
Moonraker
Diamonds are Forever
From Russia with Love
Doctor No
Live and Let Die
For Your Eyes Only
The Spy Who Loved Me
Goldfinger.
Fleming was truly a genius with his literary Bond. I will continue on after finishing Cussler's Golden Buddha, which I interrupted for TSWLM and GF.
Cheers,
Derringer

Still haven't picked up those books by Ambrose though. I loved the Band of Brothers series and want to read his books now..... Should I start with D-Day or Band of Brothers the book? And my bookstore has the one about B-24 bomber pilots in hardback on sale!

We weren't trained to read at Camp X, sir.
You know, its just too much effort to pour and hold a book at the same time.
