For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy are often interchangeable. Moreover, had I been able to award Moonraker an extra half point I would have. However silly it might be, it is still fun (unlike, say, The Man With The Golden Gun).

The first two-thirds of Moonraker contains some of the best 007 moments of the series. Its the arrival in Rio onwards that really lets the movie down IMO.

You know, Moonraker is not in the least bit serious, wholly unpretentious and deliberately silly. But I cannot help but have fun watching it, despite the pigeon and gondola (which I only cringe at a little bit nowadays). And while it has a reputation for poor humour (of which there is plenty) the three men walking in with gas masks on is a truly hilarious scene. The first two-thirds of Moonraker contains some of the best 007 moments of the series. Its the arrival in Rio onwards that really lets the movie down IMO.
Yup, I may enjoy The Living Daylights, From Russia With Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service far more, however Moonraker is nevertheless a good cheesy (though elegantly shot and scored) escapist romp to have a laugh with.

The best feature, I'd say, is Christopher Lee. One of the best villains in the entire 20 film canon, I'd say - certainly in my top 5 Bond villains ever. And my second favorite Moore film.Hey there are those of us who really like THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.
I know it is Loomis' favorite.
It's nowhere near the top of my list but it does have some redeeming features.

1.The Spy Who Loved Me- What can i say that hasn't been said a billion times before? Grand, extravagent.
2.For Your Eyes Only- A down to earth Bond that's got all the Flemingness.
3.The Man with the Golden Gun- I like the locale, photography, and the non-anchored plot. Just two guys trying to find and kill each other, i overlook the annoying sheriff and knick knack.
4.Octopussy- Very fun, like Indiana Jones, lots of wit.
5.Moonraker- Every penny from the large budget can be seen.
6.A View to a Kill- Surprise it's not a last choice! Moore grew into the role so much by now, it overcomes his oldness. Kind of a Goldfinger type copy but i still enjoy it!!!!
7.Live and Let Die- The surrealistic and slick that doesn't measure up. The chase and suspense formula wears thin. Too 70's for me (DAF is even more 70s)

2) Live And Let Die(Underrated)
Even though I myself don't rank it highly, I agree that its underrated. It's a good film, but it just doesn't stand out for me.

1) The Man With The Golden Gun 10/10- I just love how much this movie deviates from the typical Bond film, and theres nothing I like more than Bond proving he is indeed the best assassin.
2) For Your Eyes Only 9.5/10- Moves up my rankings every time I watch it. A nice change of pace from Moonraker and very entertaining.
3) The Spy Who Loved Me 9/10- Has all the makings of a great Bond film, but I dislike how much it resembles You Only Live Twice. Overall, it is an awesome film though.
4) Octopussy 8/10- Again, a great movie, but one had to be #4.
5) Live And Let Die 6.51/10- Of all Moore's outings, this is the one I've seen the least amount of times. Maybe after another viewing or two it will become more favorable.
6) Moonraker 6.5/10- I can't believe this is #6 because I love watching it, but it does go downhill after Rio. I especially don't like how easily Bond rids of Drax.
7) A View To A Kill 6/10- Unlike others, I have no problem with Moore's age in this one, but I dislike the whole fire engine chase. It has way too many American scenes for my taste as well.

Tie 1. THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (I loved Christopher Lee and the end scene with Moore pretending to be the mannequin. I still remember the first time I saw this film. Many dont like this film but I really did...)
Tie 1. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (The theme music was great here. I also thought Moore meshed with Barbara Bach really well given that she was all looks and no acting)
3. LIVE AND LET DIE (Once again, theme music here and Jane Seymour looked great. Also the scene where the villian takes off his face to reveal himself to Moore was great as well as the end of the film where Moore saves the day with his Rolex.)
4. MOONRAKER (My first theatre Bond film. I enjoyed this film and still watch it fondly, believe it or not. How did they make his face ruffle in that machine where he goes round and round and round...)
5. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (Here I think that Moore is his meanest. And that still means he was a pushover...but the acting is the most serious of the films)
6. OCTOPUSSY (Didnt really enjoy this one all that much except for the scene where they eat the Goat eyes...appetizing)
7. A VIEW TO A KILL (Sleeper for me...I realized Moore was old and he looked it. When all the girls in the film look like his daughters you know it is time to go...)
Overall what is interesting to me is how everyone has different favorites and likes different things...just illustrates the broad reach of the Bondian films.
